Field rations

By now you've probably seen the series of pictures of military field rations from around the world.

Here is my question.

Why can't the regular joes like you and me buy those ration packs?

I mean, I personally would love to try them all to see how they tasted.  And I'm sure some people would like to buy them for long term storage just to liven up their diets in case of an emergency.

    Buy Mountain Home, MUCH better than MREs etc. trust me!

    I have tried Mountain House, other than needing to be rehydrated they aren't bad. My main thing is I really just want to try all the other field rations.
