Forgotten Weapons - M1 Enforcer Carbine Pistols at RIA

I had posted the following comment over at Full30.com where the video was originally posted.

"In the late 80's and early to mid 90's the North St. Louis County Drug Task Force comprised of officers and detectives from several municipalities, used these on Raids in addition to shotguns and their normal sidearms.

When the Task Force was reorganized, the weapons were sold to individual officers.

On the 7 Enforcers I saw which were then owned by the officers, they all had had the rear sight replaced with a simple buckhorn style sight and the front sights were painted white, and the rear sights were painted red. My friend who had one of these, said they used white out and fingernail polish on the sights to make them easier to see.

I was told, but never saw, that the St. Louis County and St. Ann Police, Tactical Teams, had M2 Enforcer, pistols fully automatic, that they trained with. I don't know if they were ever actually used on busts.

All of the officers I knew who had carried these on busts all said they would never use the 30 round magazines, as the pistols became very unwieldy, so they would only use the 10 or 15 round magazines. The only other modification, I saw on the Pistols was some of the officers had attached the M2 style flashhiders.

All of the pistols I saw were the Iver Johnson models, as the Universal Models were not very liked by the department Armorers. Another tidbit, several departments would carry full size Iver Johnson M1 Carbines in the trunk of their patrols cars, although a few departments would carry Savage 99's in .30-30 with a scope."
