Painful day today

This weekend has been productive.  Yesterday the boys and I took one of the trailers to the county transfer station and dumped a bunch old furniture and other stuff, then after we got back to the house we switched to the other trailer and went into town to pick up a bunch of pallets and ran by my sooper sekrit gun store and picked up the Savage Model 24S that I bought off of Gunbroker.

Then it was back to the house to drop the pallets off with my neighbor who needs them for his bucket gardening project,   The boys and I brought my new to me Savage in and I got it entered in to my Firearms Log and it now resides in the safe until I can get to the range, hopefully later this week.

Today, I dropped the boys and their laptops off at their grandmother's house so they can use her WiFi to update all of their software. And I could hook up mom's car to my battery charger, she forgot to turn off her headlights last night and ran her battery down.  Mom's got Cable internet, which is about 20 times faster than my slow DSL, so the boys like going to grandma's house.

Then my oldest son aka Sprog #3 and I went to O'Reilly's in town and picked up some new brake pads for the front brakes of the Suburban.  Then back to mom's to be sure the boys have their computers updated and mom's car battery is charged, then my Ex comes and picks up the three oldest boys to go to their Church Youth Group.

Youngest Son/Child aka Sprog #7 and I then come back to the house and we change the front brakes on the Suburban.  Or at least we START to change the brakes on the Suburban.  We first had to find all the tools we needed.  SOMEONE went through my toolbox and removed certain tools.

Sprog #7 and I spent almost an hour just locating my Hex Sockets and just in case my Torx Sockets.  Finally we have all the tools we need, we have the wheels choked, lugnuts loosened and are jacking up the Suburban.

Get ready here comes the painful part.

Sprog #7 is jacking up the burb, when his hand slips.  He is fine, my knee however took what I will call a haymaker.

Well, we got the burb jacked up, changed the front brake pads, put it all back together, then switched to the other side and repeated the process without my knee getting smashed this time.

But Sprog #7 did 90% of the work on the brakes, I mostly just had to explain how to do it, although he did need my help getting the piston collapsed for the new pads.

All in all, not a bad weekend.

I'm going to put my knee brace on now and lay down while son #3 Sprog #6 finishes making dinner.
