In my neck'o the woods - Firearms in Schools

"KRIS-TV - AGUA DULCE

Out with the old and in with the new. That's what the Agua Dulce Independent School is doing with the warning signs on the school campuses. The old signs on used to read gun free school zone. Now, they have a new warning. The signs say: Please be aware that the staff of Agua Dulce ISD may be armed and are willing to use whatever force is necessary to protect our students.

"We had been looking at a guardian plan, arming trained individuals on our staff," said Wayne Kelly the Superintendent of Agua Dulce Independent School District.

The new signs provide a way to keep the students safe in case of an active shooter situation.

"Response time for a police officer in this area can be up to 30 minutes," said Kelly."
