Jay on the guy who intentionally defaulted on his College Loans

Jay G the Gun Blogger turned Gun Writer and Editor still has his blog and is still knocking them outta the park.

"We're two paragraphs in and he's already bashed the banking institutions and laid the groundwork for his pity party. Oh, those evil banks, making you sign your life away - you know, on the big pile of cash they just handed you. And your parents got divorced? Shucks, that's tough, I understand. But lots of people meet hardships. My freshman year of college, one of my friends' dads dropped dead of an aneurysm. Bet his mom had trouble affording tuition, too."

Now way back in the 80's when I went to college The University of Missouri at St. Louis cost $250 a credit hour.  Two Hundred and Fifty Dollars per Credit Hour.

Went I went to Community College for EMT I paid $125 a Credit hour.  Checking now, my old Community College has actually gotten CHEAPER.  One Hundred and One Dollars per credit hour currently for District Residents.  One Hundred and Forty Seven Dollars per Credit Hour for Non district Residents.  Why can my rather LARGE Community College with 5 Campuses spread all over the St., Louis City and County, and I do mean LARGE Campuses is Cheaper than my daughter's College which isn't even the same size as ONE of the campuses of my old Community College.

I just did some quick math.  My Community College 101 per Credit Hour, my daughters college, IF the student takes 12 credit hours per semester, costs 1,150 per credit hour, if they only take 9 credit hours which is the minimum for a full time student the cost per credit hour is 1,533 dollars per credit hour.

And yet even the local Community College close to me costs 117 per credit hour if you take 3 credit hours, if you take 12 it costs less than $100.00 per credit hour.  And Delmar College in Corpus has three campuses spread out over Corpus Christi, and is talking about spreading out to cover even more of the area.  And they are NOT talking about raising their tuition costs.

I tried to get my daughter to go the local Community College, however she wanted a particular professor for her studies and after some research, I said ok.  Still my daughter is already TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS in Debt due to loans.  And she is only a Sophomore.  I personally have spent almost 5 THOUSAND dollars paying for books, fees, extra stuff in the last 2 years.  I have 3 loans I have taken out I am paying back $125 a month on, to make sure my daughter has what she needs.

Now I'm not saying my daughters college is bad, it isn't.  It is VERY good.  So is the Local Community College, but the Comm college doesn't have the same courses my daughter needs for her Degree.  (She is a Music Major and wants to be a Band Director/Teacher, and has already been admitted to the Educators Program which is VERY HARD to get into at her school)  What I AM saying is that the Tuition Costs ARE HIGH, higher than they really should be.  Considering that many Community Colleges serve a larger number of students, have larger Campuses, and considerably lower Tuition costs.

And YES I know that most Community Colleges are subsidized by the State.  However the State Subsidies when you really look at them, aren't that much as compared to per student costs.

As Jay said in his post, Liz warren was paid $350,000.00 a YEAR to teach ONE class a semester.  Excuse me?  ONE Class a Semester?  For $350K she should be teaching a minimum of 3 classes a day EVERY day, Monday through Friday, PLUS during the summer semester. and still be available to her students the remaining 4.5 hours a school day.

I know of a Community College Professor who teaches SIX classes a day on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays and 4 Classes a day on Tuesdays and Thursdays, PLUS he teaches TWO classes every Saturday.  And he is only paid $57,000.00 a year plus his health insurance benefits.

What makes Liz Warren so special she got Paid $350k?  And according to many reports she wasn't even that good of a teacher.

So the racket ISN'T the Banks, it is the Schools.
