I will say, that I have used wire from some romex that I stripped the insulation off of, to find water lines, and to find sprinkler lines for my septic. I was within 8 inches, locating a 2 inch pvc waterline that was buried 4 feet down. My friend was very impressed and thought I was full of excrement when I did it.
