A Mosquito Bite away from an epidemic

I've written before about just how fragile and how easy it is for there to be a major epidemic not just in our nation, but worldwide.

Now we have a few rather disturbing stories which you really should read and take into consideration.

Mosquito-borne virus sickens 20 in NJ

Ebola outbreak: Victim who sparked fears of global epidemic was on way home to US

Ebola is carried by fruit bats and pigs. Can it be transmitted by mosquitoes?

There are many viruses and parasites that can be transmitted by mosquito bites. Who is to say it might not be possible to transmit Ebola that way? With our porous border and thousands of unscreened people getting in to our country that just puts us more at risk of an outbreak.

Can we prevent it? Yes, but the politicians in D.C. have to want to do so. Instead we have a leadership that is exploiting our border problems for political gain. Disregarding the possibility that we could have a major outbreak of many communicable diseases.

What do they care? All they will do is blame the Republican party, and the media will support that.

Scamming and stealing from our Troops

"USA Discounters files lawsuits against service members based anywhere in the world, no matter how much inconvenience or expense they would incur to attend a Virginia court date. Since 2006, the company has filed more than 13,470 suits and almost always wins,"

I once fell into this same trap.  I was young, married and my wife and I had recently had a child.  A $350.00 washing machine wound up costing me over $2100.00 once everything was said and done.

Even with special laws aimed at protecting our servicemen and servicewomen and their families, there are always some companies that will use any loophole they can find to take advantage of them.

And our young troops and their families pay the price.

Hmmm new gunstore and some other interesting things

A friend of mine just told me about a gunstore in Rochester, PA.  He said his hands itched with every firearm he handled.  He didn't purchase any new firearms but he did get a few other things.  So if you are in the area gives these guys a visit.

John Brown's Armory

Then another friend, actually group of friends, always use these next people for their home security  needs.   When I say a group, I mean over a dozen people.  Many of them Engineers or in the field in one way or the other.  So if they recommend these guys, that's good enough for me.

And finally a friend dropped a link to this forum about budget helping ideas/tips and tricks

Prayers for recovery for WiscoDave

I had to find out from Kenny that WiscoDave tore up his arm.  I already sent him a nasty gram to be sure he lets me know stuff like this.

But he was supposed to have had the surgery on his arm yesterday.

Kenny's post WiscoDave’s done it again

Explains it in more detail, when Davegets back to me I'll let everyone know.

So some prayers he recovers well would be appreciated.

More terror attacks?

How they make Ramen Noodles

The first thing you see is the dough coming out and going over a series of rollers to ensure the dough is the right thickness and to allow the dough to rest.

Then you see it get cut into strips and cut again into the smaller wiggles.  Yes those are actually cut, not forced through die to form the noodles.

Then through a steam oven to cook the dough into noodles

After they are steam cooked they are cut and put into trays and baked/dried slightly for the next step.

Which is frying to get rid of the remainder of the water and make the noodles crisp and preserved for packaging.

After frying they are inspected and head down to packaging where they sauce packet is placed on the noodles and it runs through the packager.

After it goes through the packager and the ends are heat sealed the noodles are boxed up and sent out..

I found this video through a video posted at The Ramen Rater

Now I can tell you about how this is done because many many years ago I worked at an Onion Ring Factory.  Which was owned by Foodbrands, then Tyson then 2 other companies I can't remember.  I think one of them was USF.

But part of my training as a Fryer Operator was watching a video of a Ramen Noodle Plant where they showed the entire making of Ramen noodles.  However they had a fire in the fryer hoods and my training was on how to deal with that as the people at the Ramen plant didn't do it properly and they lost their building to the fire.

We had a few fires in our hood system as well, but we had those put out before the Fire Department even left their station.  All we needed was the Fire Marshal to sign off on our repairs and ok us to go back to work.

Border Crises - How soon until our Agents are getting killed?

"RINCON PENINSULA, Texas -- U.S. Border Patrol agents on the American side of the Rio Grande were forced to take cover Friday night when high-caliber weaponry was fired at them from the Mexican side of the river, sources told FoxNews.com.

The weapons were fired at the U.S. side of the riverbank in the area of the Rincon Peninsula across the Rio Grande from Reynosa, Mexico, at about 8:30 p.m., sources said. Bullets ricocheted into an area where Border Patrol agents were positioned, Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, told FoxNews.com.

Border Patrol sources confirmed Gohmert's account, and said the shots may have been fired by .50-caliber weapons."

They don't know how many people got across.  They don't know what if anything they were carrying.  They don't know if it was Central Americans or others.

They don't know SQUAT.

I'm just praying that a biological weapon or something else did NOT just come across our border.

This is unusual -

Normally there are anywhere from 30 to over 100 military vehicles available for auction at any time.  And yet when I go to check the auction page you see the above notice and NO M35's, M818's or any of those types of vehicles are listed.

I wonder why....
