New Acquisition - Generation 2 Glock 23 - .40 S&W
My local Sooper Sekrit Gunstore had a good deal in the display case. A Gen 2 Glock 23 with Factory Night Sights and two extra mags for $375.00. Now it resides in MY gun safe.
They let me test it at the range and at 15 yards, rapid fire I put 49 rounds all inside the 8 ring with one flyer at 3 o'clock in the 9 ring. Recoil with 185 gr FMJ's was a little bit more than my Hi Power with 124 gr +P's, but not as much as my 3" .357 firing full bore 158 gr JHP rounds.
My only complaint with this is that my high grip caused me to get a little slide bit on the web between the thumb and forefinger of my right hand. So I'll need to either modify my grip or I will get a grip adapter to force my rather LARGE hands lower on the frame.
I'll be wringing this out with Ken and Sam hopefully this Sunday, so I'll be taking some pictures and shooting some video for posting up on YouTube. I do need to get some more ammo for this beast though, as Academy only had 250 rounds of the inexpensive brass cased Barnaul in stock for .40 S&W.
My further plans for this particular Glock however involves calling Wheaton Arms and ordering a custom 9mm conversion barrel that is threaded for a suppressor. I'll also have to replace the extractor so I won't have issues with extraction. I'm also considering a trigger job, since the trigger on this 23 is a little mushy with a inexact break. So the trigger will definitely need to be improved.
So if you're a Glock aficionado and have a few ideas and suggestions, please leave a comment.
ETA: Using the lookup feature at MujGLOCK.com according to the three letters on my barrel and slide, they were made April 2, 2002, so, I have a 14 year old Glock. That after cleaning, because it was FILTHY, looks like it was hardly fired much. There is more holster wear, than any other type of wear I can find.
However, I ordered a new Extended Mag Release, Extended slide stop for a 2-pin glock and an extended take down pin for it.
