This pissed me off so much when it happened. I was P-3 Orion enlisted air crew at the hangar next to these guys. There are parachutes on board for this exact reason. The crew KNEW they were supposed to bail out and ditch the aircraft into the ocean. Unbelievable they just handed it over to the Chinese. The pilots and mission commander should've been court martialed, not decorated.
