HELP US RESCUE A HUP RETRIEVER HELICOPTER TO DISPLAY ON OUR DECK
Help us preserve this amazing artifact and preserve the memories of our Korean War veterans before it is too late. History MUST not be forgotten! The story of the Korean War MUST not fade away!
This Korean War-era Piasecki HUP Retriever will be proudly displayed on the historic decks of Battleship IOWA. As an invaluable artifact, which tells the important story of battleship-based helicopter aviation, it is a moving memorial to rotary-wing aviators of that period chronicling helicopter aviation during the Korean War. It is also a perfect addition to our public education programs, such as Day of Discovery and Camp Battleship.
The Battleship IOWA Museum is operated by the Pacific Battleship Center (PBC), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Over the course of 70 years, from the Second World War through the Cold War, the USS Iowa (BB-61) has served the country by safeguarding democracy and promoting American diplomacy. As one of the last surviving battleships of her kind (the most powerful naval vessels ever to sail) and as the West Coast's only battleship museum, Battleship IOWA continues her service as a museum and a tribute to America's enduring legacy.
The mission of the PBC is to celebrate the American spirit through the preservation and interpretation of the Battleship IOWA, to educate the public on the accomplishments and sacrifices of American patriots, and to engage our guests in unique and exciting ways that bring the ship to life by connecting the past with the future.
