ultimaratioregis over at Bring the Heat, Bring the Stupid, has a post about Joint Chiefs Chairman Major General Martin Dempsey's comments about the current squall over a group of former and retired Special Operation Personnel, who are speaking out about the current Administrations leaks of classified information.
"Disappointment. That is a very good word to use. Joint Chiefs Chairman General Martin Dempsey applied it recently. It seems the General, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the senior Officer in our Armed Forces, is “disappointed” that former service members have strongly expressed opinions regarding the conduct of Administration officials, including the President."
General, my message to you as a former soldier.
Who are you to decide how I or anyone else no longer in the service, can express my opinion on matters which I feel are detrimental to the safety and security of this country? I have the "RIGHT" to speak my mind, when and where I so desire. A "RIGHT" you swore an Oath to Defend, as did I and millions of other servicemembers. So where do you get off telling me or others that we cannot express our views? Maybe you need to read 3 documents again. First the Oath you and I and countless others took. The Declaration of Independence, and The Constitution. I made those as Hyper Links in case you cannot find them on your own. Read those General, and then try to tell me why I as a former soldier and private citizen, no longer under the Jurisdiction of the UCMJ, cannot speak my own mind. Your actions and words bring dishonor to our military, for you forget the Oath and what it means.

I find this very disturbing
"Town Plans to Raise Revenue By Combining Drug-Sniffing Dogs With Asset Forfeiture
Orin Kerr • August 22, 2012 11:33 pm
They say a dog is man’s best friend, and the town of Henry, Tennessee is hoping that dogs can help the town raise revenue in tough times:"
Cities and towns are looking at asset forfeiture laws as a checkbook or a credit card for the Police departments. What part of "To Protect and To Serve" do they not understand? Evidently the new motto they adhere to is "To Seize and Disburse"

I only question
the caliber involved.
And there it is.
Depending on where I am in the house, it could be a .38 Special, 7.62X25 Tokarev, .45 ACP, 12 Gauge or .22LR. Again it all depends on where I am in the house when it happens. Those however are just until I get to the safe and get a rifle. Then it becomes 7.62X51.
And for the record, we have LOTS of Rattlesnakes and Coral snakes where I live, hence there are firearms available to deal with them. And a .38 loaded with 2 snakeshot rounds then 4 Golden Sabers will ruin anyone's day, especially Mr No Shoulders.
Also for the Record, the local Sheriffs office knows me, and know all they have to do is pull in the driveway and honk the horn. I'll come and talk to them any time they want, and do, as the Deputies in my county are really nice and very competent fellows. I just wish the county could afford a few more of them.
So anyone who kicks in my door is going to be assumed to be a goblin and they will get what they deserve.

Technology, Prosperity and Governement
AM had a comment over at his blog and he felt a proper answer to it should be answered in a separate post.
And it is a very informative one.
"Dedicated Dad left this comment. I found my reply to this section simply so long that it deserved a post about it.
Our system of Government - the first TRULY limited government in history - brought on the greatest explosion in technology and prosperity that the world has ever seen!
Having a passing interest in history, I think that I should tell a story, specifically the story of the industrial revolution. There has been a lot of talk about "Pax Americana" and the prosperity brought on by free market principles. This is true, however if you look at the prosperity of Hong Kong from 1950 to 1997 you'll find that they shot up faster than we ever did, and so the observational evidence starts to chip away at the idea that our government has much to do with prosperity and technology."

New/Old Technology helping to secure Southern Border
"U.S. Testing Surveillance Balloons on Mexico Border
ROMA, Texas (AP) - Floating 2,500-feet above scrub-covered U.S. ranchland near the Mexico border, the payload of high-tech cameras onboard a balloon being used by the Border Patrol can easily see a cluster of reporters and the make, model and color of their vehicles a couple of miles away."
Aerostats and Balloons have been used by the military since the time of the Civil War. From use as Artillery Observation to Airborne Radars to help secure the borders. This technology has been around for hundreds of years. Not the Radar, but the Balloons. In World War II Barrage Balloons kept low flying strafing attacks off of our troops, and installations, and were pivotal during D-Day while our troops and supplies got to shore.
Now they are being pressed into service again on our Southern Border, however I question the use of only two of them, considering just how large our border is, and how large the unsecured areas actually are. Considering the much reduced cost of operation and the ability to maintain surveillance 24/7 with just minor downtime for maintenance, you would think we would have dozens of these on the border to help our over burdened Police, Sheriffs, Border Patrol and ICE agents.

Death of a child left in hot vehicle
I am watching the news and this story just came across the news.
"CORPUS CHRISTI — A 15-month-old boy was killed Wednesday after being left strapped in a car seat for hours inside an SUV, police said.
Police were called about 3:45 p.m. to a house in the 3700 block of Grassmere Drive. Officers were told the boy's mother had driven to a store about 1 p.m. with six other children in the vehicle and returned home.
When the boy's father arrived about 3:45 p.m. he asked about the missing toddler, who was found unresponsive in his car seat."
This is something which is very horrible. I have 7 kids and I know just how hard it is to keep track of my kids. This woman had to keep track of 6 kids, and I know that the thinking "Oh, such kids will take care of it." can bite you in the butt.
This breaks my heart and all my sympathies, prayers and condolences are our for this family. The mother will have to live with this for the remainder of her life, and the guilt will eat at her soul. I'm not sure if there should be a punishment for the terrible tragedy, but I do believe this family will need some counseling to help them with their grief.

Judge states Civil War is coming
if Obama is reelected.
"On Wednesday, Judge Head explained his remarks in a video interview with the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. He said his original comments were taken out of context. But as the county's emergency management director, he said he has to keep a "worst case scenario" in mind if Obama returns to the White House and Democrats control the Senate.
"I have some opinions what they're doing and what they're trying to do if they stay in power," he said. "And I have to prepare for that."
The Lubbuck-Avalanche story
Now, I don't know this Judge, I don't agree with him, and while I do have concerns for our country if Obummer is reelected, I'm not sure screaming that there is going to be a "Civil War" is being helpful.
Granted the Judge now has some major attention for his claims. I feel it will become more and more negative attention from Obummers defenders in the media.
Also he is saying that they need more money for more deputies so people need to vote for a tax increase so they can hire more men for the sheriffs office. Methinks there be something fishy there, that has a bit f a smell.
But what do I know? I just a small blogger reading this reports from the media.

Something that will make you mad
and warm you heart that ARE still good people in the world.
"After having his car vandalized four times, Jordan Addison said it would cost $2,500 to fix the damage. And Addison says he believes he was targeted for being gay.
"The first time there were some homophobic slurs keyed into the side of it," the Roanoke, Virginia, college student told WDBJ7-TV. "Then the second time I had [die] keyed into it."
Addison says the vandals damaged his car both when it was parked at his home and on campus. And despite wanting to have the car fixed, Addison wasn't sure he could afford it. "[F]or a college student that's a lot of money," he said.
But the manager of a local auto shop stepped in and not only repaired Addison's car for free but also enlisted the help of several other auto specialists to give the car a substantial upgrade."
Be sure to watch the video.

Obama's False Flag - Tampa Police find suspicious items
Associated Press story in the Star Tribune.
"Tampa police find 'suspicious' bricks, pipes on rooftop just days before Republican convention"
TAMPA, Fla. - Tampa police said Tuesday that they confiscated pipes, bricks and other "suspicious" items from the rooftop of a downtown building located about a mile from where next week's Republican National Convention will be held.
Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor said she believes the items were put there by protesters for use during RNC demonstrations. She added that some RNC-related graffiti was also found at the building, but wouldn't elaborate.
"It is disconcerting but it's not surprising," she said. "This is normally how things proceed leading up to a large event."
Tampa will host the RNC at a downtown stadium from Aug. 27-30."
And just because I'm the suspicious type and feel that if something DOES happen this little story might go down the memory hole, I am including a screen shot of it. Actually 2 because if I shrink the page to show the whole story you can't read it.

With all the various rumors and speculation going on about a False Flag Operation by the Obama Administration in an effort to maintain power, I'm not taking any chances. As I don't trust the Administration as far as I can thrown an M1A1 Abrams Tank.

Anarcho Tyranny in America
Click on over to Borepatch's to read something which is rather illuminating.
"Anarcho-Tyranny is defined as "we refuse to control real criminals (that's the anarchy) so we control the innocent (that's the tyranny)." Here it is in action."

3D printing and a Warning from Peter
Peter has two stories, well maybe two and a half. The first has two stories in one, one neato wow the other very heartwarming.
"We've spoken about 3D printing here on several occasions. I'm fascinated by the potential of this technology, which may replace a great deal of manufacturing as we know it. It's not unlikely that in a couple of decades from now, you'll literally 'print out' spare parts for your appliances or vehicles right at home, if you're into doing your own maintenance."
That is the two in one, then we have:
"In December last year I predicted that a major war would break out sometime in the next year. We're two-thirds of the way through that 12-month period, but I see no reason to change my prediction (in fact, I'm astonished that we haven't seen open hostilities yet!).
In line with my earlier predictions, note these recent developments in the Middle East."

There's an APP for that
Actually there are two of them. And neither is good.
Borepatch has the skinny:
"Romney app more obnoxious than Obama app
Riddle me this, GOPman: why does Romney's app need to turn on your camera (CAMERA) or microphone (RECORD_AUDIO)? Riddle me this, Obamabot: why does your app grab contacts (READ_CONTACTS) or your GPS location (ACCESS_*_LOCATION)?"

Too much Government
Not enough Common Sense:
"PHOENIX - The City of Phoenix could face a lawsuit if the city doesn’t apologize to a Valley woman for telling her she could not hand out free bottled water to people in the summer heat."
Really? I mean REALLY? It's a hot day and someone is giving out free bottles of water, and you are going to give them a citation? Are they charging anything for the water? Are they forcing people to take the water? No. So get your nose back in joint and go about your business.
