Sniper Challenge- Note work in progress offer your suggestions : Updated

Andrew has a review of the 2013 Competition Dynamics 24 Hour Sniper Adventure Challenge.

Give that a read.  Then I'll give my thoughts on a sniper challenge that if I could ever find the range and the backing, I think many Riflemen and Women might actually like for the Challenge.

Are you back? Good.

Ten, two man/women teams.

15 Miles

10 Mandatory Stages

6 "Bonus" Stages

You don't know about "Bonus" Stages until you get to a certain Mandatory Stage.

Check in, you get a key for a padlock and a topo map.  There are 20 padlocked boxes on the start table.  Your key fits 1 of them.  Your time starts as soon as you get your key.

Find your box, open it.  Inside is 2 keys and your compass heading and your grid coordinates.  Each box has a different set of coordinates.

You take off and get to your coordinates.  You find a wooden stake with a second set of grid coordinates plus a code #  Write down you coord's and code #.

Get to your second set of coordinates.  There is a table with 20 padlocked boxes  Find and open the box your key opens.  Inside is your fire mission. and your next set of coordinates.

Fire your mission according to your mission orders, head to your next set of coord's.

You get to your next set of coord's, there are 10 padlocked boxes, but you don't have a key.  The locks are combination locks.  Remember that code?  It will open one of those locks.  Find your box, inside is your mission maybe you have a "Bonus"  maybe you don't.

"Bonus" stage:  you have two keys.  One for you, one for your spotter.  Each of you have a separate set of coord's.  Find your coord's there is a small field full of stakes.  Each one has a different code on it.  Make sure you choose right.  They all have the same coord's but different codes.

Travel to your coord's, there are 6 boxes with two padlocks on each.  Note each of these locks are paired with another that has the same combination.  you need to find the box that you can open BOTH locks on.  On some of the boxes you can open one of the locks with your code but not the other.

And I'm taking a bit of a break.  If you have a suggestion please leave it in the comments.

Aaaaaannnnd I'm back

You get your box open inside is your mission, one for the primary the other for the spotter.  Each of you have certain targets to take out in a certain order with a certain number of rounds. If you hit you targets properly you will get the coord's for your next check point. ie: primary shoots his 3 targets as they fall they pop up part of coords.  If hit in order you have long or lat or next coord's, same thing for the spotters targets.  Those coord's take you to your next stake with your key and you next mission.

And I'm taking a break again.   I had this whole thing written out in my head, but when I started to put fingers to keyboard, OOOoouuuuuttttt it went.

Again leave a comment if you have a suggestion.

Sounds like that one got thrown together without any pre-running/checking in actual conditions... Sucked to be them obviously!
