Quotations

Over there ---------------------------------------------------->

on the right, near the top of the page there is a heading that says "Specialization", and underneath it are some quotes I think everyone should know, if not by heart by the general idea.  Several of those quotes are properly attributed and correct.  Not the cliff notes version or paraphrases of them.

There is a final quote with no attribution.

The Spartans at Thermopylae might have said that, or to be more precise King Leonidas might have said that.  Many people use the quotation Molon Labe or to be even more precise "μολὼν λαβέ".

Both of these have similar meanings to me.

Molon Labe, No Retreat, No Surrender, No Quarter

Well Molon Labe basically means "Come and get them" in reference to someone trying to take my yours, or someone elses weapons.

No Retreat, No Surrender, No Quarter, means the same thing.

It means, I will not back down, I will not quit and I will NOT show mercy.

It is a declaration of your willingness to stand up and defend that which is yours.  Be it a weapon, or an Ideal.

For me it is both a weapon and an Ideal.

My weapon is the Truth.  My Ideal is the Constitution and the Bills of Rights means more than just words on a page.  They are the very principles this nation is founded upon.

The right to join in an assembly and be able to speak your mind and say your piece and to petition the government for redress of grievances.  The right to worship or not to worship, any Diety you choose to.  And no one can say spit to you about it.

The right to own a firearm in our own personal defense, or the defense of the lives, rights and liberties of others, and if necessary the defense of the this nation against the tyranny of a despotic central government.

The right to be free of government troops to be placed in your home, business or property.

The right to be secure inside our lodgings, conveyances and on our property from an illegal, unreasonable search and or seizure of our belongings and property, without proper due cause and the affirmation of such through an oath attested warrant for such search to describe in detail the item or items being searched for.

The right to not be tried for the same crime more than once, and to not be compelled to offer evidence against ourselves, nor allow our properties, belongings, or other effects be taken without just compensation.

The right to a speedy trial by a jury of our peers, and to confront our accusers.  And if we are unable to afford an adequate defense, in the interest of Justice we can be provided adequate counsel.  No secret tribunals or courts rendering secret verdicts or issuing classified or protected warrants or writs.

The right to have a jury of our peers determine the rightness of law in civil litigation, and no fact tried by a jury shall be examined by any other court of law save the rules of common law.

No bail or fines deemed to be excessive shall be imposed or required, nor punishments deemed cruel or unusual be inflicted.

The protection of rights not specifically stated or enumerated shall not be construed to deny or disparage other rights which we retain.

The government shall not take on powers not specifically detailed to it.  Those powers are reserved for the states or the people

I've gone through and reworded this slightly.  The intent of the document is still clear.

We as the people of the United States have certain rights GUARANTEED to us.  Not GIVEN to us by the Constitution as some would wish you to believe.  But Rights that have been granted to every human being on this planet.

The Constitution doesn't give or take away ANY rights we have.  It is simply a written guarantee by the founder of this country that they will honor those rights and not infringe upon them.

But they have infringed on our rights.

The Patriot Act

NDAA

Gun Control

The prosecution of people in federal courts AFTER they have been found innocent in State Courts.

Asset Forfieture

Environmental regulation which deny people and companies the use and/or enjoyment of their property

excessive punitive fines and fees

excessive bureaucracy which keeps people from earning a living

excessive taxes

no government accountability

Free Speech Zones

Selective Prosecution

Backroom sweetheart deals for campaign donors in violation of laws and regulations

How many pages do you want me to go through?

Our government is corrupt and broken, and is continuing a course which will destroy us.

There are some who say that now we must stand.

I'm sorry, that time is long past.

It is time for you to prepare for the coming fall.  If you are just starting now, I'm afraid it might already be too late.

It is also a time for everyone to pray.  Pray to whatever Deity you wish, or just meditate if you have no Deity.

Calm minds are needed for what is coming.  And I fear there are too few of them with the polarization of the socioeconomic and political situation we are in.

Soon there will be little to no food in the cupboard, no fuel for a vehicle, no amount of scrip will buy your family medicine if you can even find a Doctor who is willing to see them. No medicine, no textiles, no power from the grid to run the industrial engine of our country's economy.

I'm afraid it will be less than 2 years.  I pray I'm wrong.  But I don't see any way to stop the train from being derailed before the 2014 elections.

The decay and the rot has already taken a foothold, and there is no one willing to face the hard real truth to root it out and fix the problem.  Everyone is just throwing a patch here, and a patch there.  When the whole machine needs to be stopped and torn down and fixed properly.

And before you think I'm advocating something I am not.

I'm not that foolish nor am I stupid enough to get put on ANOTHER government list

I don't know how we as citizens can fix the problems facing us.  Both side of the political coin are for the most part rotten to their core.  And more interested in lining their own pockets at the expense of the rest us.

Understood and taken to heart long before the internet. I'm not as prepared as I wish I was, but none of us with a critical eye ever will be.

Glad to see that I'm not the only fan of McMaster-Bujold on the 'net.

Bujold, McCaffrey, Moon, May, Heinlein, Asimov, Clarke, Ringo, Weber and I can go on for at least another 30 or 40 lines. They all through their writing espouse ideals based upon freedoms that the Constitution guarantees us. It's not a utopian society, but it closer than anything else in the world.

And it's being destroyed from within.

I've advocated on my blog many times that people need to read certain books. The Road to Damascus is one, Freehold is another. Everyone should read those books and then take an honest look at what is going on in our country. Drop the rose colored glasses for some, for others they have seen the parallels. And they like me are terrified of what is happening.
