NC Shooting Highlight Dangers of Swatting & ‘Red Flag’ Responses - Ammoland.com
U.S.A. – -(Ammoland.com)- “The raid on [Jason] Kloepfer’s home, a camper trailer on a 3-acre parcel along a winding road 20 minutes outside Murphy, was prompted by a 911 call from the next-door neighbor placed just before 11 p.m,” Smoky Mountain News reports.
“’My neighbor about an hour ago started shooting off fireworks, screaming yelling he’s going to kill the whole neighborhood, yada yada, he’s discharging a firearm,’ the neighbor told dispatch. ‘I’ve been videoing all of this, but I was just gonna let it go. But I just heard his wife screaming “stop it,” and then a bunch of shots went off and now I can’t hear her over there at all.’”
Thus began a series of flawed assumptions leading to the shooting of a disabled man by the Cherokee Indian Police Department SWAT team.
This produced a shocking video that was reported on in this column last month and followed up on with a look at additional unanswered questions in this more recent column.
As part of an ongoing investigation into what happened and how it happened, AmmoLand Shooting Sports News has obtained the Calls for Service (CFS) [aka:911] dispatch recording of events as they unfolded, along with the accompanying report, both embedded below.
The above-quoted excerpt, along with the recording and transcript, offers explanations for why law enforcement responded to the scene anticipating the worst. Actions on the part of Kloepfer, the man who was shot, explain the motivation for the neighbor calling the cops on him and for the first responder mindset throughout the series of events.
What these actions don’t mitigate or excuse is the police opening fire on him immediately after he emerged unarmed from his trailer with his hands raised and his wife directly behind him.
What’s apparent is that this is not the first time Kloepfer made noise by revving motorcycles, shooting fireworks, and playing loud music without consideration for the hour or for who it might disturb. Indications are the sheriff’s department had been called about him several times before, and law enforcement was familiar with him. However, the previous times appear to have been resolved without any citations or arrests, and deputies would have known that, too. Records of those previous calls, and how many may have been made by the neighbor who made the latest call, have not been obtained at this writing, but records show they were requested by the SWAT commander and “printed in [the] squad room.”

Constitutional Carriers, Warning: Gun Free School Zone Trap Ahead - Ammoland.com
Florida – -(AmmoLand.com)- Now that 25 states have passed constitutional carry laws, there are millions of law-abiding Americans who have chosen to exercise their Second Amendment rights by carrying a defensive firearm, either openly or concealed, without permission slip from the government.
Unfortunately, federal law has not kept up with the national constitutional-carry movement, especially the Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990. (GFSZA ) The Act prohibits possession of a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school – of school property. Motorists who drive by a school likely fall well within this 1,000-foot gun-free zone.
The GFSZA does not recognize constitutional carry or any other form of permitless carry. There is one exception: gun owners who possess a valid concealed-carry permit or license issued by their state are exempt from the law. To be clear, constitutional carriers are not.
To comply with the GFSZA, permitless carriers are supposed to stop before they enter the gun-free zone, unload their firearm, and secure it in a locked container or rack within their vehicle. If they do not comply and are caught, the GFSZA is punishable by a $5,000 fine and up to five years in federal prison.
In the mid-1990s, the U.S. Supreme Court found that the GFSZA was unconstitutional because Congress had “exceeded its authority under the Commerce Clause.”
President Bill Clinton turned to his Attorney General, Janet Reno, for a fix. Reno produced an amendment that required the government to prove that the firearm has ‘‘moved in or the possession of such firearm otherwise affects interstate or foreign commerce.’’

DHS about to kill the Concert Tour by foreign performers
From NME.com;
US proposing rule changes that would hike touring visa costs for foreign musicians by 250 per cent
The increases are needed due to high demand and insufficient staff at the Citizenship and Immigration departmentThe US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is planning to raise touring visa fees for foreign acts by more than 250 per cent.
DHS has written in its proposal that applications for a P visa, which is for acts arriving in the US to perform temporarily, would increase from the current rate of $460 (£375.23) to $1,615 (£1,317).
The O visa, which is a longer term work visa, would jump from $460 (£375.23) to $1,655 (£1,349).
Both increases include a $600 (£489) surcharge to fund the US government’s asylum program.
The proposed hike for the O visa puts it at a 260 per cent jump. The fee for P visa, meanwhile, marks a 251 per cent increase.

‘Expert’ Explanation for Why California Still Has ‘Gun Violence’ Misses the Obvious - David Codrea - Ammoland.com
U.S.A. – -(Ammoland.com)- “Experts explain why California is still rife with gun violence despite some of the most stringent gun laws in the country,” a Thursday hit piece on the right to keep and bear arms by ABC News promises. “Many of the current laws were enacted within the past several years.” Why, indeed.
A photo included in the article gives all of us non-experts a clue: Candlelight vigil protestors with a sign that screams, “THE PROBLEM IS GUNS!”
No, of course, it is not, and you don’t need to be an expert to demonstrate why. Take the combined membership of all the national and state “gun rights” groups and you have a population of several million, arguably the most heavily-armed civilian population on the planet – and inarguably the most peaceable. Acts of armed violence attributable to their criminal activities – and rates – are virtually non-existent. With the desperate push on by the government and the “mainstream” media to smear heritage Americans as hate-filled extremists, if an NRA member were involved in an armed robbery, a drive-by, or a mass shooting, we’d know about it.
That said, a real expert has weighed in, and his findings confirm this. As noted in my previous report, economist and author John Lott of the Crime Prevention Research Center has a new paper demonstrating a fundamental reality those behind the citizen disarmament agenda refuse to acknowledge:
“Murder isn’t a nationwide problem. It’s a problem in a small set of urban areas…”
To paraphrase Democrat strategist James Carville’s slogan about the economy, it’s the criminals, stupid.
