Former President Obama Howls About ‘Cancel Culture’ He Started - Ammoland.com
Former President Barack Obama has a suspiciously – and conveniently – short memory. He’s crying foul over Disney’s and Nexstar’s decisions to suspend Jimmy Kimmel for the provably false and inflammatory lies he spread about the late Charlie Kirk. Former President Obama, though, ignores the fact that he brought “cancel culture” – with the full weight of the U.S. government – against the firearm industry.
It even had its own name: Operation Choke Point.
While he might ignore it, those in the firearm industry can’t – and won’t – forget. Nearly 15 years later, firearm and ammunition manufacturers, distributors and retailers are still reeling and cleaning up the mess from the illegal scheme to debank and ostracize a Constitutionally protected industry. Former President Obama for short term political gain attempted to cancel an entire industry that provides the means for millions of law-abiding Americans to exercise their Second Amendment rights.

Seriously, I really, really enjoy Band-Maid. When I first heard their music, I was stuck in a rut and listening to the same 8 or 9 bands over and over again. RUSH, The Who, Styx, Boston, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, just the same old classic rock artists on repeat.
Then I found Band-Maid, in particular, their song Freedom.
I rewatched that video over a dozen times. In the recommended next over on the top right of the page, was their song Onset,
And I wanted to watch ALL of their videos. Then I found Domination.
And I was HOOKED!!!
I am now a Confirmed Maidiac, I own their entire library on digital, and I'm acquiring it all on CD and DVD as I can afford them. I am also ordering all the various trade magazines that have articles about these extremely talented and competent musicians.
Here is another banger song by these Ladies just to prove just how good they actually are.
And now for a couple of ther newer songs

The Left Blames Their Violence on Others and Guns - Ammoland.com
It’s human nature to assume we know what others are thinking. We watch someone’s behavior and instantly assign a motive. We think we’d feel a certain way in that situation, and we assume they must too. But we don’t really know what they’re thinking. At best, we’re guessing. Sometimes we get it right, not because we’re mind readers, but because we got lucky.
Picture someone sobbing in a hospital bed, clinging to a loved one’s hand, hooked up to wires and machines. Why are they crying? Your instinct may be to assume tragedy. But what if they are tears of joy? What if they’ve just been told they’ll make a full recovery? Same situation, completely different interpretation, filtered through your own expectations.
Sigmund Freud called it “projection.” It’s a psychological defense mechanism that allows people to externalize their own fears, flaws, and impulses while assigning them to others. It is the man who feels emasculated and insecure, labeling masculinity itself as “toxic.” It’s easier to accuse someone else and attach your own anger and toxic personality traits onto others than it is to confront yourself.

Colorado’s New Gun Laws Create Chaos: Citizens, Sheriffs, & Trainers Overwhelmed - Ammoland.com
Colorado’s latest wave of gun restrictions has left law-abiding citizens scrambling, sheriff’s offices overwhelmed, and firearms instructors stretched thin. Supporters of the measures claim they will promote safety, but critics say they were designed to make it harder for ordinary Coloradans to exercise their Second Amendment rights.
Rush Before the Deadline
House Bill 24-1174, signed by Gov. Jared Polis in 2024, went into effect July 1 of this year. The law forces anyone applying for a concealed handgun permit (CHP) to jump through new hoops: eight hours of in-person classroom training, a written test with at least 80% accuracy, and a live-fire requirement of 50 rounds shot at 70% accuracy.
The effect was immediate. Weld and Larimer counties saw a flood of applications in the weeks before the law kicked in. Weld County reported an application spike of more than 324% in June compared to the year before. Captain Matt Turner of the Weld County Sheriff’s Office described scenes never witnessed before:

Anti-Hunters Try to Hijack Florida’s Bear Hunt Lottery, But Will It Backfire? - Ammoland.com
Florida is preparing for its first regulated black bear hunt in a decade, but the season has already turned into a political fight. Instead of arguing in court or rallying outside government buildings, anti-hunting groups are attempting something new: flooding the permit lottery in hopes of keeping hunters out of the woods.
The Protest Tactic
Groups like the Sierra Club, Speak Up Wekiva, and Bear Defenders are openly encouraging their supporters to buy as many $5 lottery entries as possible. The plan is simple—if they win one of the 172 available tags, they won’t use it. Every permit they sit on means one less hunter can legally participate.
“We’ll put in a few times or a few hundred times. It’s an equal opportunity to enter this. I must admit, I’m not a good marksman. I may kill a bear with kindness,” said Chuck O’Neal, president of Speak Up Wekiva, in an interview with Naples Daily News.
O’Neal admitted to submitting more than 100 applications himself, saying he plans to “hunt with a camera” if selected.

Gun-Free School Zone Act Challenge: Ninth Circuit Reverses Montana Indictment - Ammoland.com
The federal case against Gabriel Metcalf in Billings, Montana, under the federal Gun Free School Zone Act of 1990 (GFSZ), has been resolved in Metcalf’s favor. In a split decision, the three-judge panel on the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit has ordered the case remanded to the district court and has ordered the case dismissed. From the Summary by Judge VanDyke (purchased on PACER account):
The panel reversed the district court’s order denying Gabriel Cowan Metcalf’s motion to dismiss an indictment charging him with possessing firearms within 1,000 feet of a school in violation of the Gun-Free School Zones Act, 18 U.S.C. § 922(q)(2)(A), and remanded with direction to dismiss the indictment.
In a split decision, the three-judge panel found that the District Court in Billings, Montana, had erred by taking the case and that the indictment should never have been issued.

Second Circuit Upholds New York State’s Sensitive Area Restrictions - Ammoland.com
A three-judge panel for the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit has upheld the “sensitive area” provision of New York State’s Concealed Carry Improvement Act (CCIA).
The CCIA bans the carrying of firearms in Times Square and on public transportation. Shortly after New York State lost at the Supreme Court in New York Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, the state legislature held an emergency session to pass a response to the historic defeat. Because of Bruen, the Empire State’s “may issue” concealed firearms carry scheme was struck down as unconstitutional. SCOTUS stated that a gun law must be consistent with the text, tradition, and history of the Second Amendment from the founding era. All states had to become “must issue.” The court stated that certain areas could be designated as “sensitive,” such as court and government buildings, but the designation must be used sparingly. It cannot be applied simply because a large number of people gather in a location.
The CCIA did just that and banned firearms in Times Square because of the large number of people gathered there. Many other places were included in the law as “sensitive.” Various lawsuits have emerged, suing New York State over what some have called “thumbing their nose” at the Supreme Court due to the Bruen decision. One of the cases was Frey v. Cheng. The case challenged the CCIA provision that banned the carrying of guns in Times Square and the Subways.
At the District Court level, the judge ruled that the plaintiffs did not have standing to sue over the restrictions imposed by the CCIA. The plaintiffs appealed to the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. The case was assigned to a three-judge panel, which consisted of two Republicans and one Democratic judge. With a favorable makeup of the panel, many were hopeful for a pro-gun ruling.

How Many Leftist Murders Will It Take? - Ammoland.com
North Carolina – “Hey fascist! Catch!” So inscribed Tyler Robinson, age 22 and described as “becoming more political,” on the 30-06 ammunition he used to assassinate Charlie Kirk. Unsurprisingly, Robinson was also involved in a “romantic relationship” with the transsexual male with whom he reportedly shared an apartment.
Bill Maher tried to claim “We don’t know sh!t” about Robinson’s motives, of course. Meanwhile, leftists and their ostensibly Republican apologists are claiming we need to tone down “divisiveness” in our political rhetoric. This, of course, from the lying left that started branding Donald Trump and, indeed, all conservatives, as “fascists.”
But never mind that. I’m sure it’s all a coincidence.
Also per usual, the left immediately engaged in victim-blaming as a University of Pennsylvania professor drew (metaphorical) fire for claiming “white on white violence has gotten out of hand” while retweeting various derogatory posts about Kirk.
MSNBC anchor Matthew Dowd got fired for saying: “Hateful thoughts lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions … You can’t stop with these sort of awful thoughts you have and then saying these awful words and then not expect awful actions to take place.”

Santa Clara Slaps $2K Price Tag & Mandatory Psych Exams on Gun Carry Permits ~ Gun Activists Sue Their Ass - Ammoland.com
Santa Clara County, CA — Gun-rights advocates are taking Santa Clara County to court over what they call an “outrageous” concealed-carry permit process that makes it nearly impossible for average residents to exercise their rights.
The California Rifle & Pistol Association (CRPA) and the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF), joined by five local residents, filed suit against the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department in federal court. Their complaint argues the county’s CCW system is unconstitutional, combining excessive fees, invasive psychological exams, and even political contribution disclosures into a process that chills both the Second Amendment and the First Amendment.
The Price Tag on a Right
Santa Clara’s process is one of the most expensive in the state. To get a CCW permit, applicants face:
A $976 county application fee
About $400 in training costs
A $500 mandatory psychological exam
Extra charges for fingerprinting and renewals
In total, residents are paying around $2,000 upfront, with $850 in renewal costs every two years .

YouTube Backs Down on Political Speech Bans — But What About Gun Channels? - Ammoland.com
Washington, D.C. – YouTube has agreed to reinstate creators who were previously banned from posting content on COVID-19 or elections, following intense pressure from House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH). The move represents a major victory for free speech advocates—but raises a glaring question: why doesn’t the same principle apply to lawful Second Amendment content?
Rep. Jordan celebrated the reversal on social media, declaring:
“BREAKING: Due to our oversight efforts, GOOGLE commits to offer ALL creators previously kicked off YouTube due to political speech violations to return to the platform. BUT THAT’S NOT ALL.” — [Jim Jordan on X]
A Shift Under Oversight
Alphabet, YouTube’s parent company, admitted in a letter to Jordan’s committee that the Biden administration pressured the company to remove content that did not violate YouTube’s own rules. The attorneys called that pressure “unacceptable and wrong,” and pledged that “no matter the political atmosphere, YouTube will continue to enable free expression on its platform, particularly as it relates to issues subject to political debate.”

U.S. Secret Service dismantles imminent telecommunications threat in New York tristate area - USSS
NEW YORK – The U.S. Secret Service dismantled a network of electronic devices located throughout the New York tristate area that were used to conduct multiple telecommunications-related threats directed towards senior U.S. government officials, which represented an imminent threat to the agency’s protective operations.
This protective intelligence investigation led to the discovery of more than 300 co-located SIM servers and 100,000 SIM cards across multiple sites.
In addition to carrying out anonymous telephonic threats, these devices could be used to conduct a wide range of telecommunications attacks. This includes disabling cell phone towers, enabling denial of services attacks and facilitating anonymous, encrypted communication between potential threat actors and criminal enterprises.
While forensic examination of these devices is ongoing, early analysis indicates cellular communications between nation-state threat actors and individuals that are known to federal law enforcement.
“The potential for disruption to our country’s telecommunications posed by this network of devices cannot be overstated,” said U.S. Secret Service Director Sean Curran. “The U.S. Secret Service’s protective mission is all about prevention, and this investigation makes it clear to potential bad actors that imminent threats to our protectees will be immediately investigated, tracked down and dismantled.”
