Ukraine has a population of about 32 million. While 600,000 dead is a large number, it is less than 2% of the total population.
Nobody wants a war, but any Ukrainian in lands that Russia controls when the fighting stops will be killed. They'll either disappear into mass graves locally, or they will be transported to gulags in Siberia and to be killed.
Their population will be replaced with Russian settlers, similar to past Russian expansion. This is nothing new for the Russians.
The Ukrainians must fight and win, or they will die. Anyone who says that Ukrainians should lay down their arms and give up is advocating for genocide.
