Texas Constitutional Carry Bill Passes House, 84-56, Senate Fight Next - Ammoland.com

U.S.A. –-(AmmoLand.com)- On Thursday, 15 April 2021, the Texas House passed CSHB1927, one of the bills otherwise known as Constitutional Carry, 84-54. Democrat opposition to the bill was fierce, in spite of 19 other states have passed similar legislation without adverse effects.

Texans are already able to carry rifles and shotguns around the state without any permit.

A Texas state constitutional amendment passed after the Civil War, during Reconstruction, was how handgun carry was allowed to be infringed in Texas.  The Texas Amendment was aimed against minorities and freed slaves.

Restoring Constitutional Carry for handguns in Texas has been a slow, incremental process.

Legally armed Texas has shown itself to be extremely law-abiding. They have been more law-abiding than police in Texas.  Gradually, slowly, incrementally, more and more restrictions on the carry of loaded handguns have been removed. There have not been any adverse effects.

She was reacting to former Texas State Representative Jonathan Stickland’s reminder that “constitutional carry” is advancing  in rebuttal to her contention that Second Amendment advocates are “losing power.”

“This is exactly why these people are dangerous,” the website Mom-at-Arms observed. They use things like gun control to advance other agendas.” As an aside, if you’re not familiar with this website, set some time aside to rectify that. They’re innovative and observant, often exposing gun-grabber screw-ups and/or offering insights that no one else has thought of.

In this case, they focus on the “systemic racism” that defines the way Mom Demand Action’s benefactor, Everytown for Gun Safety (the name itself advances two bald-faced lies), operates.

As we’ve told you before, Chuck Schumer needs 60 votes to pass a cloture motion, the procedural step required to end debate on a bill and hold the actual vote. With 50 Democrats in the Senate, that’s a tall order, even with some Republican betrayals.

Congressman Raskin Despises Guns, Loves Gun Tax Dollars - Ammoland.com

 

U.S.A. -(AmmoLand.com)- Congressman Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) sure loves some of that sin-tax money. That’s the kind of money when a Member of Congress wants to ban things but can’t. So they go to their second favorite activity. They tax it.

U.S. Rep. Raskin likes his gun policies both ways. If he can’t restrict Americans’ ability to lawfully purchase a firearm, he’ll gladly accept the tax dollars paid on them by Americans while at the same time trying to price them out of their Second Amendment rights.

Fee for Thee

Rep. Raskin isn’t deterred by gun control bills already passed by the House of Representatives. He introduced tax increase legislation as an end-run gun control effort instead. It’s nearly the next best thing for a gun control politician.

FBI’s NICS Indices Shows Increase In Prohibited People, But Huge Drop in Drug DQ’s - Ammoland.com

 

U.S.A. –-(AmmoLand.com)- There are 23,657,951 prohibited people in the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) Indices as of March 31st. This number is up from 16,754,593 as of July 31st, 2017.

The NICS Indices breaks down why people are prohibited (or disqualified or “DQ”) from purchasing firearms. It is no surprise the number one reason someone would find themselves on the NICS Indices is that they are in the country illegally. That number grew from 7,180,669 to 10,079,990. This statistic is expected to grow as migrants flow over the border due to Biden’s immigration policies.

Texas LTC Instructors Distance Themselves From Letter Against Constitutional Carry

HOUSTON, TEXAS –-(Ammoland.com)- Did Texas Gun Sense submit a letter to the Texas legislature with forged signatures to oppose Constitutional Carry?

That is what some of the instructors listed on the letter sent by license to carry (LTC) instructor and Texas Gun Sense board member Raul Camacho are claiming.

The letter which AmmoLand News obtained allegedly showed a group of 54 LTC instructors that opposed the current Texas Constitutional Carry bill that just passed the House and is on the way to the Senate. The letter claimed that the Constitutional Carry (permitless carry) bill would make the state less safe and hurt the instructors financially by removing the requirements that residents take classes to conceal carry a firearm.

Fabricated The Signatures?

Although most instructors listed on the letter did admit to signing it, there is still a good number that claims they didn’t sign the letter or were hoodwinked into signing onto the letter. It could be these instructors are seeing the damaging blowback to their businesses and are going into damage control mode, or it could be that the Texas Gun Sense or Raul Camacho of Safety Measures, LLC fabricated the signatures?

FPC Responds to Proposed Federal Ban on Standard Capacity Magazines - Ammoland.com

 

U.S.A. –-(AmmoLand.com)- Senate Democrats introduced yet another unconstitutional and outrageous bill attacking the right to keep and bear arms and personal property rights, this one aimed at banning standard capacity firearm ammunition magazines that are commonly possessed and used for lawful purposes by the millions.

S. 1108, introduced by the corrupt and power-hungry Senator from New Jersey, Bob Menendez, is just the latest attempt by authoritarian politicians to infringe upon American’s natural rights. The bill seeks to ban the sale, manufacture, transfer, possession and importation of constitutionally-protected magazines holding more than 10 rounds.

The ironically-named “Keep Americans Safe Act,” a shameless attempt at misdirection to conceal the intended government-enforced disarmament of the American People, would ban individuals from purchasing and possessing arms which are protected by the constitution. Worse, the bill specifically exempts law enforcement and other agents of the state, exposing the bill for what it is: A vehicle to disarm those that are not part of the government’s ruling class.

“Earlier today, a small contingent of License to Carry instructors sided with Bloomberg-funded organizations and opposed pending legislation to restore Texans’ right to carry a handgun without having to obtain a permit. We find it unconscionable that anyone in the firearms community would betray our liberties based on an obvious financial interest.

“As Chair James White and Representative Matt Schaefer stated earlier today, ‘Experience shows that residents will continue to voluntarily seek out training and licenses in permitless carry states, recognizing the benefits of instruction as well as acquiring and maintaining a license, for reciprocity with other states while traveling and other purposes.’

“We agree with Wallace Dunn, President of the Texas Concealed Handgun Association, who stated: ‘Training should not be a condition to exercising a constitutional right.’

“And we applaud instructors such as Jerah Hutchins, firearms instructor, GOA member, and Director of Training at Tier One security company, who stated: ‘Supporting Constitutional Carry as an LTC instructor is the difference between capitalism and greed. As instructors, our job is to teach and influence Texans to be responsible gun owners. This can be accomplished without an infringing licensure.’

“While Gun Owners of America encourages gun owners to obtain quality training, we would hate for any Texas gun owners to give their hard-earned money to the tiny fraction of instructors who actively fight against their core values. We urge our members to seek training from those who advocate in favor of our liberties and support Constitutional Carry.”

Below The Radar – Firearms Safety Act - Ammoland.com

 

United States – -(AmmoLand.com)- These days, the phrase “gun safety” has become something that makes Second Amendment supporters clench their teeth in frustration, mostly because anti-Second Amendment extremists have co-opted the phrase in order to inflict injustice on tens of millions of Americans for crimes and acts of madness they didn’t commit. Not only that, the hijacking of “gun safety” has obscured real efforts to help Americans safely and responsibly exercise their Second Amendment rights, notably from the National Rifle Association.

One of those real efforts is S 788, the Firearms Safety Act introduced by Senator Roger Marshall (R-KS). Senator Marshall is a Second Amendment champion whose efforts we have covered here before, notably the Home Defense and Competitive Shooting Act, which he introduced in the House of Representatives in 2019. Marshall rightly deserved the backing of Second Amendment supporters for his 2020 Senate run.

The Firearms Safety Act provides for a $100 tax credit for a gun safe (eligibility is limited to one claim every ten years) and a $100 tax credit for firearms safety training (each year). Senator Marshall has even taken a precaution to ensure that these credits can’t be used as a form of backdoor gun registration.

If there is anything to quibble about, it is the paltriness of the tax credits, particularly for gun safes. A look at the Cabela’s site shows that of 77 gun safes and vaults, 43 are over $500. Furthermore, the safes are very different in terms of need. Some are meant for storing long guns, but others are meant to have a handgun available relatively quickly for home defense. It would seem logical to up the limit to twice in a ten-year period, and maybe to boost the gun safe credit to $250.

For training, the issue is not as severe, given that the $100 tax credit is available every year. The question, though, centers around what sort of training. The NRA has an online basic pistol course for $60. But some of those who anticipate using their firearms in a personal-defense situation may want more advanced training, like what the Massad Ayoob Group provides, and that can easily reach $2,000, plus lodging and other expenses. Here, the training tax credit should be upped, and not limited to one course.

It isn’t enough for Second Amendment supporters to publicly beat back the attacks from anti-Second Amendment extremists, they need to make being a responsible firearm owner easier, and in visible ways. The Firearms Safety Act is one of those ways that will benefit all of us down the road, but with the current anti-Second Amendment regimes, it will have a hard time passing.

Second Amendment supporters should politely urge their Representative and Senators to support this legislation. In addition, they need to support the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action and Political Victory Fund to ensure that the current anti-Second Amendment regimes in the House, Senate, and White House are defeated at the ballot box as soon as possible.

Joe Biden pushed several incorrect statements as to our first amendment rights and our second amendment rights. Republicans don't fare much better as they tend not to fight on behalf of conservatives all that often but Democrats take the cake here. To use obvious misconceptions to manipulate the ignorant in order to push authoritarian policy is shocking.

It is a sweeping package with the following executive actions that appear designed to avoid being mired down on Capitol Hill:

The Justice Department, within 30 days, will issue a proposed rule to help stop the proliferation of “ghost guns.” The administration claims “criminals are buying kits containing nearly all of the components and directions for finishing a firearm within as little as 30 minutes and using these firearms to commit crimes.” Biden-Harris lament that such firearms “often cannot be traced” because they lack serial numbers. Biden wants the Justice Department to issue a proposed rule to stop this.

The Justice Department, within 60 days, will issue a proposed rule to make clear when a device marketed as a stabilizing brace effectively turns a pistol into a short-barreled rifle subject to the requirements of the National Firearms Act. The Colorado shooter used such a gun in his rampage last month. Many disabled shooters use such devices legitimately.

The Justice Department, within 60 days, will publish model “red flag” legislation for states. Red flag laws have been debated ad nauseum, with gun rights activists contending they can be abused. Biden wants Congress to pass a national “red flag” law, and legislation providing incentives to the states to adopt their own laws.

The Administration is investing in evidence-based community violence interventions. This is in response to a homicide spike during 2020, and Biden-Harris will take the following steps:

• The American Jobs Plan proposes a $5 billion investment over eight years to support community violence intervention programs. A key part of community violence intervention strategies is to help connect individuals to job training and job opportunities.
• The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is organizing a webinar and toolkit to educate states on how they can use Medicaid to reimburse certain community violence intervention programs, like Hospital-Based Violence Interventions.
• Five federal agencies are making changes to 26 different programs to direct vital support to community violence intervention programs as quickly as possible. These changes mean we can start increasing investments in community violence interventions as we wait on Congress to appropriate additional funds.

I remember going to the Kroger on Natural Bridge Road in Normandy, with my mother. My favorite was always getting the stamps from the cashier. When we got home, I grabbed the book and started putting the stamps in. Licking then pasting them in while my mom and my older brother put the groceries away. Lenora S. 9 months ago (edited) To those confused by this clip, it is from a movie "Our Shining Days" on Netflix. The basic premise of it is that in this school the students who study traditional Chinese instruments are looked down at, while those who study western instruments get better treatment. The students who study traditional music form their own orchestra to match the western one, and this scene is both of the groups facing off. This clip is NOT showing that one group is better than the other. It is actually showing that both groups of instruments are good, and even can be more similar than one might think. As you can see in the clip, each instrument has a similar equivalent in the other group. However the Traditional instrument group should not be dismissed so easily, because they have the unique horn shown at the end that does not have a Western orchestral equivalent. That is why the horn player's entrance was so shocking, because the Western group did not know how to "compete" with this unique instrument. Its a really interesting scene that has a more complex story than it might appear, I would highly recommend watching the movie to get a better understanding!

St. Louis Memories - Sunday Brunch at The Parkmoor

As some of you might know, I was born and raised in St. Louis Missouri. Until I was about 4 years old we lived on South Kingshighway next to Tower Grove Park. When I was 4, we moved up to a small municipality across the road from UMSL aka The University Of Missouri - St. Louis. Where I went to school in the Normandy School District. One of my best memories of St. Louis comes from Sunday Brunch with my family at The Parkmoor Restaurant in Clayton, Missouri. Earlier today, I saw a video about "Burger Chef" restaurants which reminded me of "Big Bog" Restaurants which in St. Louis were known as "Shoney's Big Boy", and that reminded me of "The Parkmoor" I thought some of my readers might like to know about a St. Louis Institution which was jammed packed every Sunday morning until about 3:00 pm with church goers enjoying brunch with their families after attending services. I'm back online as you may have noticed.

I moved into my new home Christmas Eve 2020. My daughter and Son in Law moved in at the other end of the house, and they are helping with the bills and the pay for the internet. I finally have high speed internet, whereas before I had DSL or cable internet at the low bandwidth plan. 

 We made it through the big freeze, although having to repair my water line where the county turned off the water and the lines froze wasn't fun after they turned water back on and flooded the rear half of my property. I'm afraid of what my water bill will be next month.  

I've finally gotten 3 of my lowers built and 1 of my uppers is done. I need to get my vise bolted back down to finish the other one.  And I need to get the parts to build the third upper and finish the 4th lower.  I lost so many parts after the hurricane.  People not knowing what things were, me being injured so I couldn't be there to supervise and enough parts to build 2 rifles either got thrown away or someone pocketed.  NOT any lowers.  THOSE were secured in one of the safes.  But I'm missing two collapsing butt stocks, one a 4 position the other a 6 position, a stripped A3 upper.  A Lee Load All in 12 ga with it's 20 ga conversion disappeared in addition to about 170 lbs of lead ingots and my melting pot, bullet molds and other reloading gear.

But I have a new home.  I have food on the table and my bills are mostly paid, although property taxes and some vehicle repairs are are making it hard to pay things.

So for the most part.  Life is good.  And I have the creator to thank that none of my kids are in a bad way.

Over the weekend, my family went hiking in Beaver, UT. Beaver is a small town of about 3,000 people. We ate at one of the local diners and I picked up their newspaper called The Beaver County Journal. Inside, there was a letter to the editor about the coming Communist takeover in America. The author wrote about the 10 Rules of a Communist revolution that were supposedly found in 1919 in Germany by the allied forces. Take a look and see how many of them are currently playing out… 

1. Corrupt the young, get them away from religion. Get them interested in sex. Make them superficial. Destroy their ruggedness. 

2. Get control of all means of publicity. 

3. Get people's minds off their government by focusing their attention on athletics, sexy books, and other trivialities. 

4. Divide the people into hostile groups by constantly harping on controversial matters of no importance. 

5. Destroy the people's faith in their natural leaders by holding the latter up to contempt, ridicule, and obloquy. 

6. Always preach true democracy, but seize power as fast and as ruthlessly as possible. 

7. By encouraging government extravagance, destroy its credit and produce fear of inflation with rising prices and general discontent. 

8. Foment unnecessary strikes in vital industries, encourage civil disorders, and foster a lenient and soft attitude on the part of government toward such disorders. 

9. By specious argument cause the breakdown of the old moral virtues, honesty, sobriety, continence, faith in the pledged word, and ruggedness. 

10. Cause the registration of all firearms on some pretext, with a view to confiscating them and leaving the populace helpless. 

Well, what do you think? Pretty scary, right? Notice that two times they mention the word "ruggedness." Soft and weak people are obviously easier to conquer than tough people with awesome guns like this. And so are people who don't have faith in God. Remember, some of our most important duties are to defend truth, defend God, defend freedom and defend the family. I believe it was Albert Einstein who said… "The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything." With inauguration day being tomorrow, it will be up to you and me to share our voices and not cower over the next 4 years. And, of course, it is up to us to continually prepare to be self-reliant, because you and I know it will be an "interesting" 4 years. (If I used foul language, I would change the word "interesting" to something else.)

Now on the the e-mail _________________________________________________________________________ I am a registered Democrat, and I found this interesting. This is an open letter to all Democrats from a Democrat. I did not write this, but it needs to be shared... I just have a few questions for you....Let me start with, I already know you don't like President Trump...that's a given, SO let's move on from that... How about the division of America.... Do you really blame Trump for that? How about when NONE of the DEMOCRATS showed up for his inauguration? Don't you think that started the division? He hadn't even been president yet, and EXCEPT for Clinton and Obama, not one democrat showed up....Is that when Trump divided America? Can you imagine if the REPUBLICANS didn't show up for Obama's inauguration because they lost??? Can you even start to imagine what would have happened? How about when 19 minutes after Trump was inaugurated, the Washington Post declared the IMPEACHMENT CAMPAIGN has STARTED? Was that when Trump divided America? How about when Nancy Pelosi ripped up Trump's state of the union right in front of the world, showing complete disrespect for the President of the United States? Did that bring the country together and is THAT when Trump divided America? How about when America had to endure, 3 years and over 30 million dollars spent on trying to PROVE that Trump only won because of RUSSIAN COLLUSION and NOT because America voted him in and 17 democrats did EVERYTHING in their power to PROVE that there was Russian Collusion...and came up with ZERO...? Was THAT when Trump divided America? I can't even start to go over the NEGATIVE PRESS he's received since his surprise win... Remember, the DONORS, the likes Bloomberg, who gave 27 million, Tom Steyer who gave 17 million, George Soros who gave 9 million and MANY MORE that gave MULTI-MILLIONS to Hillary, wanted a return on their investment... Do you really think that donors give MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS just because they love Hillary? NO, these weren't campaign donations, they were INVESTMENTS into what HILLARY had promised them when she became president.... They were so sure she would win and they would be SHOWERED with HUGE RETURNS, and when it didn't happen and they LOST all those millions, they went all out to TAKE TRUMP out of OFFICE by any means possible... DID YOU KNOW that 90% of the Mainstream media and the corporations that own them, are owned by or run by BIG DEMOCRAT DONORS? You can verify all of that for yourselves...I did... Since the moment Trump won, even before he was inaugurated, the mainstream media's reporting was 92% negative on Trump, do you know why? It was those big donors that lost their dream of MILLIONS of dollars, on their returns that they were going to receive when Hillary was president and they weren't going to take that loss lightly...They needed to PUNISH TRUMP and those that VOTED HIM IN... I've said this since the night he was elected... "There is NOTHING the left won't do to take down our President", our country and us, no low they won't go to, to get their power back", and sadly, we have seen this every single day since his election. Let me ask you this...Have you ever listened to Trump or appreciated any accomplishment or campaign promises he's kept, have you ever gone to one of his rallies or have you just closed your mind to ANYTHING he does? Please ask yourselves the following questions, if you dare... What has Joe Biden done for America for the last 47 years that he's held an office? What did Joe Biden ever do for BLACKS when HE and Obama were in office? What has Joe Biden ever done in his entire life to create a private-sector job? What has Joe Biden done to help the American middle class worker? Let me also ask you this...Why do you think there are so many people tearing down statues, our burning flag, beating up police officers, disrespecting our founders and hating our country? It comes straight from our SCHOOLS that have slowly been tearing down our history... If there is a teacher out there, please tell me the following: Do you teach the truth that it was the DEMOCRATS that were the KKK? That the GRAND LEADER of the KKK was Robert Byrd, who was elected to congress and served for decades, and that it was Hillary, Bill, and Obama that gave his EULOGY praising him? That the DEMOCRATS fought the Civil war to KEEP SLAVERY? That the inner-city ghettoes were created by DEMOCRATS to keep control of slaves after they were freed? That planned parenthood was founded in inner cities to CONTROL the BLACK POPULATION? Is any of this in your history books? Let me ask you this as well. Can a student speak up when he/she disagrees with a teacher when they say that Trump is a horrible president or the electoral college has to be eliminated? I don't think so? Well, I know a student that actually happened to...When the teacher said it had to be eliminated because Hillary lost, and he stated the reason it should stay, She ripped him apart and gave the entire class a 5 hour test, and stated it was because he DARED to disagree with her... Is that happening in your schools? I'm only asking questions....I'd like your answers.. President Trump and his entire family has been vilified, demeaned and disrespected, for one reason and one reason only.......HE WON... Have you noticed the DEMOCRATS only throw tantrums and OBJECT to everything he does and have NEVER ONCE gotten behind him to make America the best it can be? WHY? They can't afford to get behind him...he would WIN AGAIN, and they can't let that happen....if he wins again, the Democrat party will be destroyed and they know it... Did you notice that the "CAGES" the left claimed that Trump built to put Illegal children in, WERE BUILT BY OBAMA for the very purpose of PUTTING ILLEGAL CHILDREN IN? Was THAT all over the news when Obama did it? The very same "CAGES"...but the media was silent!! How about when Trump commuted Roger Stone's sentence, and was DEMONIZED 24/7 but NOT A WORD when Obama commuted 1715 inmates, which included 330 that he granted on his last day in office... DID WE EVEN HEAR one WORD about it? >Were there reporters even reporting it...NO! Just look at the difference in the reporting. By the way, since Trump's been in office he's commuted 10 people...compare that to Obama...Is that reporting fair? How about when Biden and Obama allowed the H1N1, the SWINE FLU, to INFECT MILLIONS of Americans before declaring it a health emergency.... Was the press losing it's minds and calling it the OBAMAFLU AND BLAMING OBAMA and BIDEN for the spread ? SILENCE! Compare this to the NEGATIVE COVERAGE that Trump got when, he immediately halted travel from China when, in February, Nancy Pelosi went to Chinatown and said come on down, or when DeBlasio, in March, said ride the subways and go to broadway...BUT those same people are blaming Trump for the spread of coronavirus.. A FINAL QUESTION: What have the DEMOCRATS done to help make America the best, to get behind a president that works tirelessly to care about WE THE PEOPLE instead of using us as political pawns.. What have the democrats done for people of color EXCEPT for GIVING ILLEGALS more rights than citizens and having us pay for it... JUST imagine what this country could accomplish if the Democrats worked with him on the economy, the coronavirus, the inner cities where he's created opportunity zones, job training etc. When Trump tried to get school choice for inner-city students they ran Betsy Devoss out!! The dems running those innercity schools wanted no part of school choice. Have you ever wondered why it's cities that have been run, for decades, that have the MOST HOMELESS, the MOST CRIME, the most MURDERS, the worst INNER CITY schools, ARE ALL RUN BY DEMOCRATS??? If you haven't started asking yourselves those questions, maybe you should.. As I said, my entire family used to be democrats, but NOT ONE will ever vote for a democrat again....They asked themselves the same questions and the answer was clear.... I'm not looking for debates on this. I'm a Christian, and will not support the Democrats in Nov.
