When I was growing up in St. Louis, Missouri, it wasn't Thanksgiving, until KSHE played Arlo Guthrie's "Alice's Restaurant". As the years progressed, many of the Rock Stations in St. Louis played Alice's Restaurant, most of the time simultaneously.
It was weird to go from station to station and hear the EXACT same song on the EXACT lyric.
Granted there were a few that were a little bit out of sync, a few of those stations sped up their turntables or they weren't right on the beat when they dropped the stylus.
But I remember in I think it 1976, our Nation's Bicentenial Year, that 8 radio stations in St. Louis all played Alice's Restaurant all at the same time.
So here is hoping that tradition of Alice's Restaurant still lives on in your neck of this world.
