Sootch00 - Bug Out Bag - Be prepared

I have seen many Bug Out Bags over the years and I have assembled many BOB's as well.

The largest issue I have seen with the bags is too big and too heavy.  You need a bag small enough and light enough that you carry it with you EVERYWHERE.

Remember, when something happens, it is ONLY what you have on you and directly WITH you, that you can rely on.  A BOB can't help you if it's in the trunk or back seat of your car, when a riot, or tornado, terrorist attack, earthquake, flash flood or any OTHER type of disaster happens and you CANNOT get to it.

What you need to do is build several small kits.

One you have with you at ALL times which should hopefully get you to your second kit in your vehicle which is larger, which should have enough for 48 hours at a minimum, which should be enough to get you back to your home which would have your main kit.

IF you are already at home you would already have all 3 kits available to you.  PLUS any other things you might need.

As Sootch00 says, Bunkering In/Up IS the preferred method.  However if you were in something like what is happening in Baton Rouge Louisiana right now, you can only have what you can grab RIGHT THEN AND THERE.

If the weather cooperates with me I will dig mine and the boys gear out of the suburban for some photos.
