I went to Sprog #2's Flute Recital up in Seguin then up to Sprog #1's place in College Station.
I took some ammo up to Sprog #1 for "JIC" I forgot to pack the extra 12 and 20 gauge. Or rather Sprogs #5, 6, and 7 forgot to take the 100 shell bulk boxes of 12 and 20 ga out of the safe room to load in the Suburban. I had planned on taking her 3, 12 ga bulk boxes and 2, 20 ga bulk boxes so she and her fiance could get some practice in with shooting some trap or skeet.
My trip between Seguin and College Station was very fun in a really bad rain storm. Between already being in a lot of pain from the weather, I had to deal with idiots who seemed to think that the laws of man and physics didn't apply to them.
The red Prius that almost ran me into the ditch about 14 miles outside of Bastrop was somewhat funny. Ten miles further that same Prius went head to head with a Mercedes. The Mercedes won. About five miles further up the road a white Chevy Aveo went head to head with a BMW, it looked like a 5 Series. Surprisingly, the Aveo looked like it could be driven off. Granted without it's headlights and front clip, but the BMW, from the front wheels forward was just G-O-N-E, gone.
I thought BMW's were more resilient than that.
I got to Sprog #1's apartment a little after 1800 and with the rain, I could barely see enough to park in front of her door. I'm very glad I replaced the reverse lights with super bright LED's. However, I'm considering adding a rear view camera.
My daughter made me her special spaghetti, and I have a large tupperware with leftovers. (YUM!!) {I love her spaghetti with jalapeno's, black olives, mushrooms, and chorizo)
I left this morning about 0815 after topping off the tank. My trip up there I got almost 19 mpg. Not bad out of a 1/2 ton 4 wheel drive suburban with a 5.7L V-8.
On the way back, there was only 1 idiot on the road that came near me. But I don't care how much skill you have, you don't go in excess of 75 mph in the rain in a construction zone. The state police had something to say to them when I passed them about 8 miles up the road and the Trooper had the driver in handcuffs and was putting him in the back of his Tahoe.
The only real problem I had was my drivers window has popped out of it's channel in the door so it wouldn't close all the way.
I'll have my mechanic fix that next week. I already set up an appointment for monday, so he can fix that, change the oil and give it it's yearly inspection.
Now to finish going through my e-mails.
So be prepared for a bunch of posts, probably I'll have to schedule them every 15 minutes to get caught up.
And if you haven't already.
GO VOTE!!!!!
I voted last week during the early voting period.
