Back 15 years ago I got a police trade-in S&W Model 65-2 .357 stainless K-frame with a 4" barrel for $300. On the outside it had scratches and lots of holster wear. Internally it looked new. I spent a good 6 hours on a polishing wheel and got most of the scratches and wear polished away. A new Crimson Trace Hogue style grip finished it out. When I bought it I was looking for a Speed Six with a 4" barrel. I always prefer stainless over blued because they are easier to maintain and don't have the rust issues. A 357 shines with the 4" barrel. The 65-2 was just too good of a deal to pass up and it has been a great pistol. The SAR 38 with a 6" might be interesting.
