The first deals with the military budget and the sequester.  Peter tells it straight including his misgivings about the report, but if he says it's important to read, you really should read it.

And what they discovered was that the president, in his 2013 budget, had proposed to cut $58 million from the program. The administration claimed that the money could be saved through greater efficiencies and would not involve any reductions in vaccinations. (The proposed cuts never took place.) What stunned Rep. Harris and others was that after claiming in the 2013 budget last year that $58 million could be cut without harming vaccinations, the CDC this year claimed that sequestration cuts to the same program, estimated at $30 million, would have devastating effects. When the CDC Director is confronted with the facts and figures, he become rather evasive in his answers.

Just who we need running a Federal Agency, some one who dissembles and obfuscates the facts in an attempt to hide his political masters wishes for an exaggerated confrontation with Republicans.  Trying to score points against one political party or the other.

I think Dr. Tom Frieden needs to find a different job.  One OUT of government or public service.

Making the Sequester hurt

"A 2011 Government Accountability Office report gave a sampling of the vastness of what could be cut, consolidated and rationalized in Washington: 44 overlapping job training programs, 18 for nutrition assistance, 82 (!) on teacher quality, 56 dealing with financial literacy, more than 20 for homelessness, etc. Total annual cost: $100 billion-$200 billion, about two to five times the entire domestic sequester."

"House Speaker John A. Boehner announced on Wednesday that members will no longer be allowed to travel by military aircraft on Congressional delegation trips.

The Ohio Republican told members that because of the spending cuts mandated by sequestration, he will cut the costs of the taxpayer funded trips by suspending the standard military aircraft and making members fly commercial." 

I have to fly commercial when I fly.  I haven't won the lottery yet so I cannot afford my own private plane.  So why not make all the Government employees fly commercial?  Yes, congressmen and Congresswomen and Senators are Government Employees.  they just seem to forget that they are.

We need to remind them.  Often.

President Transparency denied Senate Sequester Compromise

"I received word from a source who works with the “other side” on the Hill that a handful of Senators was preparing a sequester compromise to be worked up and presented to Reid’s office by today. Word of that compromise got out and reached the White House. I am guessing it was someone working for Reid who relayed that information. Regardless, it was the very next day that a staffer for one of the Senators working the compromise deal received word from Legislative Affairs to not under any circumstances continue to produce a compromise, or publicize any such deal."

Now we KNOW that Obama is trying to use the Sequester to "Punish" Republicans.  He doesn't care about anything else, just that he has to beat down on the Republicans and destroy any integrity they have.

Obama blames GOP for HIS idea

"Conjuring up the specter of fired teachers, furloughed FBI agents, idled Border Patrol agents, sidelined firefighters, criminals freed by cutbacks and "hundreds of thousands" of lost jobs, President Barack Obama pressed congressional Republicans on Tuesday to agree to increase tax revenues as part of a plan to avert "brutal" across-the-board spending cuts set to take effect one week from Friday."

And he keeps hammering at them  constantly.  The GOP needs to hold a press conference to lay out the facts and say "Mr. President if you didn't want this to happen, then why did you suggest it?"

And then keep hammering back at him about "HIS" idea.  Not lay down and take his garbage.
