"Unfortunately, as she has learned, Dillard Smith’s view of the ACLU bears little relation to reality. The ACLU’s goal — like that of the LGBT movement — is to shove a radical agenda down the throats of the American people, not to balance rights and find reasonable accommodations.
A transgender activist — a biological male who goes by the name Cheryl Courtney-Evans — responded to Dillard Smith’s resignation by calling her “lazy,” “ill-educated,” and a “b–ch” who needs to sit down and “STFU.” No one who has seen LGBT activists in action will be surprised by this charming response.
Actually, Dillard Smith is well educated. She earned a degree in economics from Berkeley and a master’s degree at Harvard.
She’s also a liberal Democrat. And until she resigned, she was one of the youngest ACLU directors in the nation and one of only three African-Americans employed by the ACLU in that role."
When it affects her and her children, NOW she's concerned. And yet when "WE" are concerned she and others like her label us as Bigot's, Racist's etc ad nauseum.

More invasions of our Rights
"Cecilia Abadie, a technology entrepreneur, was stopped for speeding in October and handed a second citation by an officer who claimed she violated California law by using a visual "monitor" while driving. However, a judge dismissed the citation after ruling there was a lack of proof her device was turned on at the time."
The first part of the story about the gentleman who was pulled out of a movie theater by Immigrations and Customs Enforcement Agents. Since when does ICE enforce intellectual property and copyright laws?
We have more and more instances of government agents overstepping their authority and their supervisors in D.C. are doing NOTHING to rein it in.
I think it is a calculated plan, the more they step on our rights without howling like a banshee, the more they will continue to do it, until there comes a time we can't even turn over in our own beds without filing for permits and having environmental impact statements taken.
So contact your representatives and senators and ask them how and why this is happening.

One of the reasons I got out of Law Enforcement
"Ever wonder why so many police across the country in separate cities, departments and even agencies display much of the same behavior?
~~snip~~
Your job is to ensure that you always remain in a position to exert complete control at all times. In order to accomplish this you must inform all subjects involved in any stop or enforcement action that they must not move, they must keep their hands where you can see them, and they must not place their hands inside their clothing or inside any compartments for any reason unless you instruct them to do so"
I'm sorry but while I did have to ensure I went home after my shift, I saw no reason to treat every person I interacted with during my shift as a possible criminal out to harm me. People I worked with were of the mentality from Blade Runner. Deckard is told by Bryan "If you ain't cop, you're little people". I'm sorry but everyone should be treated the same. And it got to the point that I couldn't trust the people who were supposed to be my backup, so I got out.

War on drugs? Or war on Civil Rights?
"LEAWOOD, Kan. (AP) — Two former CIA employees whose Kansas home was fruitlessly searched for marijuana during a two-state drug sweep claim they were illegally targeted, possibly because they had bought indoor growing supplies to raise vegetables."
It finally clicked.
The war on drugs and the war on terror and the war on poverty. All these little political wars are really 1 war. And that war is against our Civil rights, our Constitution and our future generations.
With the Patriot Act, several of our civil liberties were made easier to restrict and violate. With the war on drugs, this erosion of our civil rights has been a slow steady progression.
Now with the technology available through drones, satellites, FLIR and who knows what else, the legality of their use off of the battlefield and by the civil government instead of the military still being questioned. The current authorities seeming to use the Miles Vorkosigan Dictum of "It's better to ask for forgiveness, than to beg for permission", in their pursuit of information about everyone in this country.
How many drones are flying over us now gathering information, where is their warrant? What is the probable cause that allows them to even FILE for a warrant? They don't have one, other than "For the greater good" Whose good?
Why will it require multiple expensive lawsuits to force the government to follow the laws it is supposed to enforce?
Who watches the watchers?

A "Discussion" about Civil Rights
"He believes in protecting a woman's right to choose. He has called
on Congress to require waiting periods and ultrasound before
abortion..."
"He believes in protecting our First Amendment rights. He has called on Congress to regulate bloggers to prevent hate speech..."
"He believes in protecting the rights of gays. He has called on Congress to strengthen the Defense of Marriage Act..."
"He believes in protecting our right to worship freely. He has called on Congress to pass laws challenging the tax exempt status of churches who argue against science..."

This is why we DON'T need Gun Control
So people can protect themselves from deranged people.
"During a court hearing Oct. 12, Mrs. Kristofak begged a Cobb County judge not to release him from jail. “I fear for my life,” she told Superior Court Judge Adele Grubbs, telling the judge that a court-issued order of protection would not stop her crazed ex-spouse."
And when seconds count. The police are minutes or evens hours away.

The death of the 5th amendment?
"What everyone must understand is that American politics doesn't work the way you'd think it would. Most people presume that government officials would never willfully withhold penicillin from men with syphilis just to see what would happen if the disease went untreated. It seems unlikely that officers would coerce enlisted men into exposing themselves to debilitating nerve gas. Few expected that President Obama would preside over the persecution of an NSA whistle-blower, or presume the guilt of all military-aged males killed by U.S. drone strikes. But it all happened."
