These ships area physical piece of history.  Something our children can actually touch as they hear about the journey that brought Christopher Columbus and his men to our side of the Atlantic Ocean.

It is sad that the Santa Maria may have to be razed.

Three Sisters Update

"The Nina will soon be receiving her blessing and officially her restoration will be complete.  The local TV station, KRIS TV, has run a story about the Nina's completion and the plans to restore the Pinta and the Santa Maria.

"CORPUS CHRISTI -- One of the three Columbus replica ships -- on display in Corpus Christi -- is restored and ready for public tours.

But, it was no easy task getting to that point.

The history behind the ships plays out like a movie.

There's drama, disaster and it all revolves around money.

Rick Stryker, with the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History, said, "It was a bad decision because it didn't work."

Sailing officials tell us a private, non-profit organization initially paid Spain $1 million dollars for the ships in 1994.
The same organization was also supposed to pay for the area at the History and Science Museum used to repair and display the ships.

That costs around $4 million."

Testing of the Blogger video service.

I was down at the Nina today, and tried to do a little filming. The real camera I had decided to have a hissy fit so this is a cell phone video of me talking a little bit about the Nina and the Columbus Sailors. I know it doesn't look to good, but this is a test of the blogger video interface. If this works ok, there will be more original videos from me coming.
