Well that was fun

We survived Hurricane Harvey.  My house was basically destroyed.  My Suburban was destroyed.  My main computer was destroyed.  I'm typing this on my netbook that I set up to make KTD drives since it wasn't really good enough or fast enough for anything else.  I doubt my house is repairable, I KNOW my Suburban isn't repairable.  When Salt Water Surge basically buries your car to the roof top, there is nothing salvageable in that.

I was able to recover my firearms.  If you have been watching my twitter feed you'll know that my youngest son and I tried to clean up 3 of my Mossberg 500 barrels.  However that is about impossible.  The salt water did too much damage.

My Beretta 71 also came very close to that state, however I was able to get to it sooner.  My sons didn't bury it in the bottom of the pile of stuff like they did my Mossberg 500 barrels.  It's slide however will need a re-blue in it's future.  Dozens of magazines however may be beyond all help I can give, which is slightly upsetting since Tokarev Magazines are a little hard to find.

I also have to deal with over a thousand 12 ga. shells with corroded bases.  That is going to be fun.

Now on to the pictures.  I won't be able to give proper descriptions as this netbook is acting real goofy about certain HTML coding.

back of the house taken from 1 street over.

see that pile of stuff in the fore ground?  That was my ex-wife's house and it's gone.

according to a neighbor, the flood water were to the top of my suburban

he said the only part of it he saw was the roof rack

the water blew out the back window of the suburban

it took 2 days before I could actually drive on my street.  Between the water still being 3-5 feet and the downed power lines

you can see some of the flood water which was still over my street in places.

I lost windows, siding, parts of the roof.  The ceilings fell down inside raining insulation everywhere.

I was standing in almost a foot of water taking this photo.

That WAS my bathroom window

and I used to have a walkway and steps in front of my house.

My Rubbermaid shed that held parts of my solar setup is in pieces, 2 of my charge controllers and one inverter is just flat out gone.

So you can see, I'm in bad shape.  I need to replace my suburban and a whole bunch of other stuff.

I'm really concerned because I had to register my sons in the school district almost 25 miles away, and there is no bus service, and I can't have them ride in the bed of the S-10.

If you can help us, any help would be appreciated.

My PayPal quick link is paypal.me/greylocke

If someone has a real inexpensive minivan or a car big enough for 3 big teenagers my 21 year old son who has Aspergers, plus myself, I really really could use it as quickly as possible.

My boys need to get back to school.  For now we have a roof over my head, although sleeping on the couch and air mattresses on the floor isn't exactly comfortable, it's more than some people have.

My oldest daughter, you might know as Sprog #1 has started a Go Fund Me campaign to try to help, if you can help here is the link.  https://www.gofundme.com/help-for-anderson-family

The picture shown there is my Ex-Wife's trailer shoved against my storage shed.  My daughter took it from her car window as she still couldn't get out of her car because of the water in the driveway.

Please if you can help out, anything would be appreciated.

My kids and I and my Ex- Wife Michele, we have lost almost everything.  So if you have it to spare, please consider donating.

Thank you for reading my scribbles.

Bull Chicks - 1-4-2017

I took Sprog #2 and Sprog #4 to Corpus today to get clothes for Sprog #2.  She starts Student Teaching next week and needs professional clothing.  We stopped at Cato's for her clothes and afterwards, after the ladies at Cato's recommended them, we walked down two doors to Bull Chicks, for lunch.

I got a delicious chef salad and General Tso boneless chicken wings with waffle fries, Sprog #2 got a sandwich which I can't remember what it was, also with waffle fries, and Sprog #4 got a chicken teriyaki  wrap with waffle fries.  All of the food was very good, and made up very fast.

These two were taking care of us, and I forgot to get their names, however I got top of the line service, extremely good food and it didn't cost an arm and a leg.

The restaurant was clean and organized, the employees were super friendly and helpful.

So if you are in Corpus and want to get some good food for a good price with good service, I recommend Bull Chicks on SPID in front of the Walmart next to the old DOT office.

Let 'em know you heard about it from me, so they know I told you about them.

And no, I'm not getting anything in return for posting this.  Although I really liked the salad and their wings (hint hint ;) )

The Death Spasm's of OPEC and the Rise of American Energy Independence.

"It isn’t often you see the death of a major worldwide industry. Last week I saw the death of the “Big Oil” economic model. It just died at the hands of Texas oil frackers who have developed a new “disruptive technology” that has made obsolete all the pillars of technology underpinning large, vertically integrated oil companies. More importantly, the same is true of all the petro-states that nationalized Big Oil’s assets in the 1960s to make all the state oil companies around the world today.

I found this out doing my day job last week as a Defense Department quality auditor visiting a mid-sized oil service company diversifying into federal contracts. The meeting was about issues with the contract they won and touched on others they have bid on. As a side bar at lunch the following points about their main business came up:

1. Oil field spending has died. Rig count in the USA is the lowest it has been since 1940.

2. One oil rig controller company these folks worked with saw a year over year drop of 72% in its business.

3. Another company they supplied had their “Cap-X” budget drop from ~$400 million for 2015-2016 to little over $30 million for 2016-2017.

4. One drilling company they supplied went from 120(+) new wells last year to _12_ this year.

5. This supplier sold a lot of copper tubing for “frack-log” drilling. That is the drilling of holes in good oil-bearing rock without fracking rock for oil immediately — and here is the new part — to take advantage of a new long-flow fracking technique.

While most of the points above are due to the Saudis’ oil price war on Texas frackers. An ex-Big Oil geologist I know put it this way —

The entire reason for the price drop was because the Saudis wanted to destroy fracking in the United States in order to keep us dependent upon them in order to keep them getting a free defense. The Saudis will have to diversify and start spending money on defense before the price goes back up, or they will be in serious trouble.

The technique in Point #5 above marks another “fracking revolution” that is of growing importance to the USA. This new fracking energy revolution will upend the world order as we know it. Political winds willing, America may well be a net hydrocarbon exporter in five to eight years."

What this means, is that the possibility that America, might be able to knock down the influence of not only Saudi Arabia, Russia and China, but also, Iran and it's proxies ie: ISIS

If the US can dominate the Oil Markets and Dictate the price of a barrel of oil, America can make it so Iran, Saudi Russia China and all the other rabble rousing countries can't AFFORD to bankroll their proxies anymore.

There was an active shooter near me last night

About 9:50 pm CST a call came over my scanner for a domestic disturbance.  Less than 4 minutes later it was shots fired, then it was more shots fired and a possible hostage situation.  I e-mailed the information to my local TV Station KRIS-TV, and kept e-mailing them as I heard updates come over the scanner.  There was confusion as to whether or not he was holding his own child as a hostage.  Finally when I heard the Police were closing down the road and were moving residents of the apartments that they had evacuated to the main fire station I loaded up my cameras and headed there myself.

I got to the station, got interviewed myself by the KRIS cameraman, then went down and took some video of the entrance of the complex and some of the fire fighters blocking the road.

As I was heading back around to try and get some video from the other side of the complex I heard over my HT that the police were using a suppressed .22 to shoot out the lights in the complex.  It was weird, I heard them setting up a Designated Marksman spot, who could shoot into the apartment.  I heard the police calling the fire department to cut down a section of the fence around the complex so they could get a better angle on the apartment.  And I kept hearing officers calling out where more lights needed to be shot out.

Around 0145 I heard the Site Commander tell all of the officers to get ready, 5 minutes later I heard him call for the perimeter units to hold position.  Then 8 minutes later came the call for EMS FAST.

The shooter was dead, I don't know if the police shot him or he shot himself, but the child he had as a hostage was fine.

Now I'm listening to the aftermath of them collecting evidence, evidently several of the adjacent units have bullet holes in their walls, several cars were shot by the subject and the J.P. had to come declare him dead.

If I do actually make the news, I'll post the video on this post later when I wake up.

From KRIS TV's website: Road shut down for police standoff

KRIS-TV's last report :Identity released of armed suspect in Rockport-Fulton standoff

I'm going to lie down.

They just confirmed the shooters name over the scanner.  I'm not going to post it out of respect for his family.

Foggy night last night

Sprog #2 Daughter #2 came down from her school on the last days of her spring break.  She and several friends had a motel room in Port Aransas and after she had dinner with me and the rest of the kids, she asked if I could give her a ride to Port Aransas, to her motel.  Her motel was literally 300 yards from the ferry landing and in the 10 minutes it took for me to drop her off at the motel and get my hug then drive back to the ferry, the fog rolled in thick.

The ferry I was riding on had just pulled away from the ferry dock on the east side of the ship channel when I thought it would be fun to record the rest of the trip.  We were maybe 20 yards away from the east dock when I started recording and we had maybe 150 to 175 yards to get to the other dock on the west side of the channel.

So you can see just how foggy it gets down here living so close to the water of the Gulf of Mexico.

The reason the ferry hand and the captain are having so much of a problem getting hooked into the ramp is the tide is coming in and the current is actually going rather fast.

He needed Killin

As a viable defense.

A case in Angleton Texas has brought up the Old "He Needed Killing" Defense.  Possibly.

"ANGLETON, Texas (AP) -- David Barajas denies killing a drunk driver in a fit of rage after his two sons were fatally struck in 2012 on a rural road in Southeast Texas.

His defense attorney says Barajas is a good man, a grieving father and not a murderer. At the same time, his defense hasn't publicly suggested who else might be responsible for Jose Banda's shooting death."

A drunk driver struck and killed two boys pushing s truck less than 100 feet from their own home.  Allegedly, the boys father came, saw that his children were dead/badly injured, went home got a firearm came back and shot the man who had stuck his kids.

How would you handle it?  If you were on that grand jury?

In 2012, a man beat his childs molester, who he had caught in the act, to death.  The grand jury "No Billed" him. refusing to return an indictment.

In another case in 2013 a man shot and killed a Law Enforcement Officer who was part of a team executing a "No Knock" Warrant on his home.  The man doesn't deny shooting the officer, but said he was in fear of his life and his pregnant girlfriends life.  The Grand Jury declined to indict him as well.

One thing you may notice about these cases.

They are for the most part in rural/suburban areas.

Makes you think?  Doesn't it?

Looks like I may have a new neighbor

"Rumors About Ammunition Plant Spread Through Rockport

ROCKPORT - There is lots of anxiety this week in a neighborhood on the western end of Rockport about the possibility of an ammunition plant being built down the street.

The area of Copano Heights in question is currently undeveloped land, but it's right next to a neighborhood with dozens of homes.

Naturally, neighbors were alarmed to hear rumors about secret plans to build an ammunition plant and all sorts of negative impacts that come along with it."

This is only about 4 miles from where I live.

My opinion?

Bring it on!!

I'd LOVE to get an ammunition plant in the area.  It would bring in at least 30 full time jobs, and the area where they are planning on building it is just undeveloped lots with brush and pin oaks.  Plus I have 4 boys who are mechanically inclined who might be able to get hired on as they get old enough.

Can you say "Employee Discount"?

I knew you could ...

Respect my Authoritah

"New Roads, La. - An investigation is now in progress following the news of a police officer detaining a firefighter Monday night while in the middle of answering an emergency call."

Also.....

"A video of an incident at West Brook High School in Beaumont, Texas has outraged countless Americans concerned about police brutality. The footage, taken on March 7, shows Officer Steve Rivers breaking a student’s arm so violently that the bone can be heard cracking."

No they are no longer Cops.  They are thugs.  Who think the law doesn't apply to them.

Update with more;

This third one is VERY disturbing.

Is Dallas County expecting war in the streets?

"Dallas County sheriff's deputies traveled to Fort Hood earlier this month and picked up their very own International MaxxPro MRAP. This particular truck has never seen any actual combat, having only been deployed stateside for training exercises, so it doesn't have any cool battle scars, but with the dealer's $600,000 price tag knocked down to nothing, and with just 10,000 miles on it, the deal was too good to pass up."

I don't see any reason for that vehicle to be used by anyone other than the military.  Remember my post connecting various points? Obama wants a separate "Civilian Security Force".  One that is just as well armed as the military, but doesn't isn't under the authority of the constitution.  In other words, he wants a private army that only answers to him under his personal direction.  What strings are attached to these "gifts" from the Federal Government?  What conditions have been set for local law enforcement, that they have to meet in order to get these new "Tools"?

You and I know, that there is always a condition for local law enforcement agencies  to meet, to get these cool new toys, I mean tools.

So what did Dallas County have to agree to, to get their new MRAP?

Kidnapping and Sexual Assault of an Eleven Year Old

"'Ok. You don't know why you wanted to kidnap this little girl. Let me ask you, why did you want to have sex with her?' The answer: 'I guess I'm just perverted,'" said Dimick's lawyer Kenneth Botary."

This piece of filth and his two friends kidnapped a girl, who was out riding her bike, took her out to the island and he raped her and left her on the island.  They had the foresight to bring a lubricant and a blindfold with them when the perpetrated this attack on that young girl. That to me sounds as if the had Pre-Meditation.  Does that enhance the penalties for these 3 scumbags?

I hope so.

I know quite a few people, who are willing to help the State avoid the cost of a trial.  I'll leave that to your own imagination what I've been hearing.

But either way, none of these three should EVER see natural daylight again, as long as they still draw a breath.
