Bull Chicks - 1-4-2017

I took Sprog #2 and Sprog #4 to Corpus today to get clothes for Sprog #2.  She starts Student Teaching next week and needs professional clothing.  We stopped at Cato's for her clothes and afterwards, after the ladies at Cato's recommended them, we walked down two doors to Bull Chicks, for lunch.

I got a delicious chef salad and General Tso boneless chicken wings with waffle fries, Sprog #2 got a sandwich which I can't remember what it was, also with waffle fries, and Sprog #4 got a chicken teriyaki  wrap with waffle fries.  All of the food was very good, and made up very fast.

These two were taking care of us, and I forgot to get their names, however I got top of the line service, extremely good food and it didn't cost an arm and a leg.

The restaurant was clean and organized, the employees were super friendly and helpful.

So if you are in Corpus and want to get some good food for a good price with good service, I recommend Bull Chicks on SPID in front of the Walmart next to the old DOT office.

Let 'em know you heard about it from me, so they know I told you about them.

And no, I'm not getting anything in return for posting this.  Although I really liked the salad and their wings (hint hint ;) )

B.O.L. Be On the Lookout!! Gun Theft Corpus Christi Gun Show

These two people are on video of stealing one handgun and possibly a second handgun and a notebook computer. They are also suspected of hitting a friend of mine's pickup truck outside in the parking lot.


"Corpus Christi police detectives need the public's help identifying a couple they believe stole a firearm at a gun show.

The owner of a the gun told police a man and woman collaborated to steal a stainless steel Derringer pistol from a display table at a gun show Sunday at the Al Amin Shrine Temple.

Surveillance video, released Wednesday by police, shows a man walking up to the table while talking on a cellphone, according to a police news release."



In that video the lady in the back right wearing the pink shirt is my friend's wife. They had their own table at the show.

I had a Doctors appointment today.  On my way back home I stopped and took some picture of the Lady Lex with my Cell Phone.

Guns Show and Air Show this Weekend

This weekend down the road from me in Aransas Pass, there is a Gun Show at the Aransas Pass Civic Center.  Entry is $5.00 for adults and kids free.  9:00 am to 5:00 pm Saturday and 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Sunday.

I will tell you, that because of all the rain we've had down here in the last 2 months, parking WILL be hard to come by.  Normally there is plenty of parking on the grass however the fields are too wet.  So you might be best advised to carpool in or get there very very early.

ETA:  I forgot about Fiesta De La Flor, a celebration of the life of Selena Quintanilla Perez.  There are 2,000 tickets available for tomorrow however they are first come first served.

Kidnapping and Sexual Assault of an Eleven Year Old

This piece of filth and his two friends kidnapped a girl, who was out riding her bike, took her out to the island and he raped her and left her on the island.  They had the foresight to bring a lubricant and a blindfold with them when the perpetrated this attack on that young girl. That to me sounds as if the had Pre-Meditation.  Does that enhance the penalties for these 3 scumbags?

I hope so.

I know quite a few people, who are willing to help the State avoid the cost of a trial.  I'll leave that to your own imagination what I've been hearing.

But either way, none of these three should EVER see natural daylight again, as long as they still draw a breath.

These ships area physical piece of history.  Something our children can actually touch as they hear about the journey that brought Christopher Columbus and his men to our side of the Atlantic Ocean.

It is sad that the Santa Maria may have to be razed.

Pat Benatar and Neil (Syder) Giraldo in Corpus Christi Texas 4-16-2013

UPDATE: I didn't notice when I wrote this I worte Ms. Benatar's name in the title as "Benatart"  That was a mistake I have corrected.  Ms. Benatar if you read this I apologize for not catching it.

My friend and neighbor John loves listening to Classic Rock, and he loves trying to win the various contests for tickets to local concerts.

Well he won 2 tickets to Pat Benatar.

2 NICE tickets as in row A seats 1 and 2, just off the Orchestra section about 15 feet from the stage right in the center.

Which means I got to go, as John doesn't drive.

WAY COOL!

The opening Act, a young Lady by the name of Brynn Marie, was very good, her accompanist on an acoustic guitar was also very good.  I do have one small complaint about her.  Please pick one genre or another.  Your mix of genre's was a little confusing to me.  You sound good in the rock, country and pop genre's but please stick to one.

After a brief intermission while Neil's Guitar Tech and the rest of the crew did some final adjustments, Pat And Neil came out and proceeded to rock the house.

Neil came out showing his punk punk roots styling like an older 50's greaser.  I don't know how many of the audience understood his style, but John and I both thought it was great.

Then Pat, sweet Patricia, picked up the Mic, and that voice, the voice that kicked the idea that no woman can rock in to it's grave, let loose.

MY WORD!  That woman, despite being 60 years old can STILL rock the house and show any young thing what it means to have a voice of power.  Pat may not be hitting the really high notes like she used to, but with her maturity and her tour schedule, she may just be saving her voice, but she STILL hammered the songs and made me sit up and listen to her.  Just like she did to the rest of America back in the 70's.

Pat and Neil ran a small more intimate band, for what Pat called a warm up tour to the big summer tour.  All I know is she rocked that auditorium with her voice and energy, backed up by Neil whose own energy radiated off of him and combined with Pat's.  The two of them are a powerhouse of energy and music, that should be tapped by the power industry.  Last nights show had enough energy it probably could have powered the entire city of Corpus Christi for a week or two.

Now since Axl Rose and the riot in St. Louis many many years ago which I actually worked security at out in the parking lot, cameras are not allowed in the concert venues.  And while there were many signs posted saying this, many people brought cameras and were taking pictures.  Venue Security were only stopping people who were blocking the aisles and were obviously recording the concert instead of taking photos.  And Neil and Pat both would pause on stage looking directly at the fan with a camera as if to say go ahead and take my picture, I don't mind.  And many people did take pics.  Myself included.  Even if it was with my cell phone.  I wish I had brought the good camera.

Obama kills more jobs in my neighborhood - Las Brisas

I saw this on my local evening news.  So Obama's EPA is destroying the several thousands of jobs, with their accompanying revenue plus the tax revenue, AND forcing the loss by the companies involved their funds already spent, plus the state and local governments are losing tax revenues as well.  It's a WIN-WIN for Obama!!

Death of a child left in hot vehicle

I am watching the news and this story just came across the news.

"CORPUS CHRISTI — A 15-month-old boy was killed Wednesday after being left strapped in a car seat for hours inside an SUV, police said.

Police were called about 3:45 p.m. to a house in the 3700 block of Grassmere Drive. Officers were told the boy's mother had driven to a store about 1 p.m. with six other children in the vehicle and returned home.

When the boy's father arrived about 3:45 p.m. he asked about the missing toddler, who was found unresponsive in his car seat."

This is something which is very horrible. I have 7 kids and I know just how hard it is to keep track of my kids. This woman had to keep track of 6 kids, and I know that the thinking "Oh, such kids will take care of it." can bite you in the butt.

This breaks my heart and all my sympathies, prayers and condolences are our for this family. The mother will have to live with this for the remainder of her life, and the guilt will eat at her soul. I'm not sure if there should be a punishment for the terrible tragedy, but I do believe this family will need some counseling to help them with their grief.

Texas is changing photo lineups

"CORPUS CHRISTI — Starting Sept. 1, area law enforcement agencies will change the way they conduct suspect lineups.

District Attorney Mark Skurka gave a presentation Thursday afternoon at the Nueces County Courthouse for area agencies to review policies in legislation, passed last year, that details how law enforcement must conduct eyewitness identification policies."

The changes come after many errors in identification that have resulted in many exoneration's from DNA evidence. So under the new policy, the photos must be in separate individual folders and must be presented by a detective not on the case. Also the witness must confirm their reasons for identifying the photo in question on video or audio.

My personal belief formerly being in law enforcement, this is a good idea. It should help cut down on on witness contamination due to the witness taking cues from the detective's body language. Also since each photo is in a separate folder, the witness has to make a definitive decision. I have seen where a witness talked themselves out of id'ing a perp because she felt that the one young man looked clean cut, and she chose the photo of an undercover officer because he looked 'mean'. Anything which will help officers get the right perp, quicker, I'm all for.

Ohhh what an idiot

This recently happened in my neck of the woods.

A guy wanted to get off work early, so he called in a bomb threat. One leetle problem, he works at a refinery.

"CORPUS CHRISTI — A 26-year-old Robstown man pleaded guilty Monday to enticing another man to make hoax bomb threats to a Corpus Christi refinery.

During a hearing in federal court, Luna admitted he convinced his cousin to make several calls Oct. 25 and Oct. 28 to the Valero Refinery claiming there was a bomb on the property."

Uuhhmmm I thought any type of threat against our infrastructure, such as a refinery, is considered as a terrorism threat. I hope he like prison.....
