Specialization

I have spoken many times of the saying I have over on the right side of my blog.  And I've referenced them many times.  I got an e-mail from someone who reads my blog through the mobile version on their cell phone, so all they see is the main posts.  They can't see any of the sidebars.  So they asked me to post all of the sayings I have listed under Specialization.  Well Darna, here they are.

And yes a couple of them are from me.

Specialization

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.
-Robert A. Heinlein

Any man who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the Government take care of him; better take a closer look at the American Indian."
-Henry Ford

I don't want repeat offenders, I want dead offenders
-Ted Nugent

We see, therefore, that war is not merely an act of policy but a true political instrument, a continuation of political intercourse carried on with other means. What remains peculiar to war is simply the peculiar nature of its means.
-Carl von Clausewitz

Reality doesn't care about your feelings

When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

Needs Must, When The Devil Drives

Life is not a race where you acquire things.  Life is a journey where you acquire experiences to share with others.

-Mark (GreyLocke) Anderson 12/29/2013

“Political tags–such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth–are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire. The former are idealists acting from highest motives for the greatest good of the greatest number. The latter are surly curmudgeons, suspicious and lacking in altruism. But they are more comfortable neighbors than the other sort.”
– Robert A. Heinlein

“Men by their constitutions are naturally divided into two parties: 1. Those who fear and distrust the people, and wish to draw all powers from them into the hands of the higher classes. 2. Those who identify themselves with the people, have confidence in them, cherish and consider them as the most honest and safe, although not the most wise depositary of the public interests. In every country these two parties exist, and in every one where they are free to think, speak, and write, they will declare themselves. Call them, therefore, Liberals and Serviles, Jacobins and Ultras, Whigs and Tories, Republicans and Federalists, Aristocrats and Democrats, or by whatever name you please, they are the same parties still and pursue the same object. The last one of Aristocrats and Democrats is the true one expressing the essence of all.”
– Thomas Jefferson (Letter to Henry Lee, 1824)

Pretty... What do we blow up first?
-Myn Donos - Wraith Squadron

We have a finite amount of time on this planet. When the Lord’s going to take us, we don’t know, but every second of your life is a second gone forever. Someone who doesn’t have respect for your time has no respect for you. This is something all young men should learn by puberty.
-Wraith

Life and Freedom is too precious to give it up without a fight, no matter what. When you meet the end of that road, make the ghost of Death EARN his Prize.
-Exiern 6/5/2014

Death is not the enemy. Death is never the enemy.  The ones who deal it for their own convenience are.
-Gallstone 6/5/2014
