"Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” Gov. Jerry Brown (D-CA) said Californians will face heavy fines for taking long showers.
Brown said, “This executive order is done under emergency power. It has the force of law. Very unusual. It’s requiring action and changes in behavior from the Oregon border all the way to the Mexican border. It affects lawns. It affects people’s — how long they stay in the shower. How businesses use water."
California is going to FORCE your compliance. What else is a State or Federal Government going to do to ENFORCE your Compliance?

California considering mandatory access to your cars OBD Computer.
But what if the traffic cop were a computer that always is transmitting data about our driving habits to a government agency? That question increasingly is being asked given technological advancements and a new proposal by the state's air-quality control agency to expand the information your car's computer would be required to collect and potentially transmit to officials.
Currently, drivers get red-light citations via mail because of cameras placed at intersections. USA Today reported that some eastern states have suspended drivers from using toll lanes after their transponders showed them to be speeders. Private fleets often closely monitor, control and punish the behavior of their drivers. What's next?
The On Board Diagnostics computer systems on all of our late-model cars now collect a wide range of information mostly related to a car's emissions. When something is amiss, your dashboard flashes with a "check engine" light and you head to a repair shop to fix it. The goal is to assure cars aren't polluting the air.
What part of NO, doesn't California understand? This is just one more little step of their planned intrusion into every facet of our lives.
How else can the Government wriggle it's way into controlling our lives?
And it always starts in California. California puts a law into effect and soon it gets picked up by the Fed Gov and the rest of the country has it imposed on them.
So this needs to be nipped in the bud.
You WILL NOT surveil my vehicle or driving WITHOUT a valid warrant signed and issued by a judge.
So until you have that go take a long walk off a short pier.

Common Core Backlash
"A school in Sacramento, California, has suspended a mom over her stance against Common Core.
You read that correctly, the Mark Twain School in Sacramento has told the mother of a 12-year-old student that she has been suspended for two weeks. Police in Sacramento served the 14-day suspension to Katherine Duran in her home following a disagreement with the school over the soon-to-be enacted Common Core standards."
I'm sorry, but the school principal and his immediate staff who collected the forms need to be suspended or fired. Evidently as educators they are not familiar enough with something called The First Amendment". As such they are obviously not qualified to hold their positions and employment.

Why does a small town need an MRAP?
"Councilman Blasts PD's Acquisition of MRAP Vehicle, City Manager 'Not Happy'
Banning city council members and city staff were not consulted publicly or in closed session about Banning PD's acquisition of an 18-ton Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle they crashed in September, a Banning councilman said Tuesday."
Long story short, PD took delivery of an MRAP without notifying the city manager. MRAP was being driven hom, and had a blowout which caused it to take out a pickup truck, leaving the City of Banning on the hook for over 40 grand.
But wait, there's more.
"Police Acquisition of Armored Vehicles, Costly Crash Under Scrutiny
The Banning Police Department's acquisition of a surplus Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle and their subsequent crash of the heavily-armored truck in Arizona took place three months ago, but an acting police commander and the city's spokesman said Thursday they could not comment because a personnel investigation is still under way."
If you read some of the comments on both stories, there appears to be a war going on between certain council members and the city manager.
My question is this.
Doesn't the city manager control the police departments budget and acquisitions?
If so, then why wasn't the city manager aware of the MRAP?

Healthcare.gov
You know that error prone, buggy, insecure government website that wants all of you personal identifiable information?
Yeah, that one.
There was an easy version of it. One that would have allowed you to shop for an insurance program without entering you Social Security Number, Birthdate, home address, and all that stuff that Identity Thieves would just LURVE to get their hands on.
And they took it out just days before launching the main site.
Ace has the skinny.
Obama Officials, Get This, Lied About Reason For Dropping Customer-Friendly Part of Healthcare.gov
—Ace
And to top it off, California is REJECTING, President Petulants 'Fix'.
DrewM over at Ace's has the low down on that.

Firearm Registration = Firearm Confiscation
Over at Kenny's there is a story you need to read about how Kalifornia is taking legally purchased and owned firearms for things like unpaid taxes or tolls being paid late.
UNPAID TAXES??? TOLL FEES???
Seriously go read that. Just one more reason why Firearms Registration is a BAD idea.

Taxes and Penalties
New York which has one of the highest Tax rates alon with California has a new way to compel you to pay their high taxes.
"New York is known as an aggressive state when it comes to tax collection. And it's about to get tougher still.
The state is creating a driver's license suspension program aimed at those who owe at least $10,000 in back taxes and who have exhausted all appeals."
Now New York is waiting until all other options and appeals have been exhausted, however other states with lower taxes have shown higher tax receipts with those lower taxes.
And in California, they are going back on on their own legislation as I understand it.
"CBS Sacramento reports the state promised the tax breaks for opening certain kinds of businesses five years ago, but a court ruled the practice unconstitutional in December.
Now, the California Franchise Tax Board wants their money. The station reports an estimated 2,000 small businesses will be forced to pay up their retroactive taxes, totaling as much as $120 million. Some businesses will face a bill of as much as $200,000."
And New York and California wonder why they are losing businesses other than their insane anti-business laws.

Draft Condi
Are you reading Hillbuzz? If you aren't you need to be, Kevin is back and writing up a storm, not to play down the contributions of his co-bloggers, but Kevin is hitting them out of the park since he got well. Now on to the main story:
"Condoleezza Rice keeps saying her future is in California and she has no designs on national office.
Well…how about her running for statewide office in California then?
I’d love to see that happen.
It would be fun to watch Democrats alienate black people as they try to attack her.
The big way Democrats attack black candidates is by calling them pejoratives riffs on Harriet Beecher Stowe characters. Ignorantly, they call Condi by the hateful “Aunt Tom” name…which is just dumb because Uncle Tom’s wife in the book is Aunt Jane, who also lived in the cabin. So, the Leftists who attempt to terrorize black female conservatives are illiterate not knowing that the slur they actually mean to use against black women like Condi or Mia Love is “Aunt Jane”.
The Tolerant Left: as ill-read as it is hateful."
