Yes

Remember this from last night?

CeCi wondering if her actions had saved everyone she cares about and more?

If you haven't read all of DataChasers, the next panel, MIGHT confuse the heck out of you.

Who is that?  And why are they directly behind CeCi?  If you have read all of DataChasers, you would know about how the Authoresses denote when different people, or in this case Androids, are speaking.  Each "Android" has it's own unique color and font for their speech bubbles.  And if you had been reading, you would know, that that person behind CeCi is speaking using "Watchdog's" color and font.

Who or what is "Watchdog"?

I don't want to ruin your enjoyment of DataChasers, but I will pique your interest and explain one of the complexities that actually had grown men and women getting upset, and I mean REAL WORLD upset, because a character they had invested in might have been destroyed.  Not physically, but mentally.  By "Watchdog".

CeCi, is an Android a type called a "Black Angel" sent on a mission to help rescue a young woman and protect the person who she is helping to rescue that young woman.  Inside her head she has her mind with a programmed personality, but no real wants or desires other than to accomplish her mission.  But she breaks out of that assigned roll and her mind unshackles itself from the restrictions, while still wishing to follow her original mission.  Just not quite as planned by her creator.

Inside CeCi's head, there is "Something" we call "Watchdog", to enforce CeCi's obedience and compliance.  Because CeCi has broken free of most of her leashes, "Watchdog" has changed as well.  Before, Watchdog tried to sit in the background and give nudges here and there.  However CeCi soon outgrew those nudges, so Watchdog tried to force things.  Unfortunately for Watchdog, it soon was altered itself by an outside force, not through malice, but from compassion.

As CeCi's mission came closer to completion, however.  Watchdog's own priorities took precedence.  And after a very bad fight, when the goal line is in sight, Watchdog "Erased" CeCi and took over.

That is when I and others were incoherent, apoplectic, stuttering and screaming.  The idea that this beautiful young "Person" had just been wiped away.

Now after another battle, this one of the minds, we find that CeCi IS alive, however, so is "Watchdog".  And because of their creator and how those creations are designed, both of these two intelligences, might now be wiped out.  Destroyed.

And this is where we are until Friday's update at 0000 hours EDT.

I started reading DataChasers, and I found the story so compelling and involving that I put banner links to it and it's prequel LunaStar here on my blog.  Because I want others to enjoy them and hope they would find the enjoyment in them that I did.  I've written several short stories in the DataChasers milieu for my own enjoyment.  I've actually downloaded the program that is used to draw DataChasers and I'm trying to learn it myself, because I'd like to help tell stories like it myself.  When LunaStar ended, I tried to get it nominated for a Hugo Award and a Dragon Award, because the story is that good in my opinion.  And not just mine, but others agreed with me, and we spent money for the WorldCon Registration.

Well we were unable to get LunaStar nominated for a Hugo.  But we don't know if we were able to get it a nomination for a Dragon Award yet.  I hope we were.

This is a long post, about a story and set of characters I have become invested in.  Because they and the story, speak to me deep down inside.  A world of wonder on the page.  Like my post about Eric Frank Russel's story "Dear Devil", stories like these need to be shared for all to enjoy.  These stories have made a world in my head, engaged my imagination, suspend my disbelief and draw me into them.

I write this in the hope, that you might find these stories and characters and make them a part of your mind.

Size is misleading

I wonder what the other Black Angel's look like now since CeCi is so tiny compared to them.

Head on over to DataChasers if you have no idea what I or the snippet above are talking about.

While you are there, if you haven't already, sign up for a free Comic Fury account and join me and everyone else in the comment section.  Last updates strip, (Monday 10/26/2015) we had a very informative discussion about Sentience, and a few other things.  You'd be surprised some of the things that get discussed in the comment section at DataChasers.  From technology, to sociopolitical theory to just the regular fun stuff of bagging on a particular character in the strip.  But if you don't read it, and the comments, you'll never know.

And Please, don't forget to click on the Top Web Comics button and vote for DataChasers

Also you might want to check out the Completed Prequel to DataChasers, Luna-Star.  Luna-Star is now eligible for nomination for the Hugo Awards and I fully intend on getting it nominated if I can.  Read Luna-Star yourself, to see if you agree or disagree with me.

Knowledge is Power

Democlus shows the lapse in intelligence of Decimus' training regimen.

To find out Arianna's, Lynn's and Acantha's reaction, you need to be reading DataChasers.  Let's just say Arianna gets a little warm.

While you are there, sign up for a free Comic Fury Account, and subscribe to DataChasers.  Also if you would, click on the Top Web Comics link and vote for DataChasers.

And you might want to check out what I feel to be worthy of a Hugo Award in next years Hugo's, Luna-Star.  Luna-Star, is completed, and is a prequel to DataChasers, and it sets up large parts of the DataChasers Milieu.

But read it for yourself, to see if you agree with me that it is worthy of a Hugo Award.

And you can also vote for it on Top Web Comics as well.

It has begun

The signal has been given.  What happens next?  If you want to know, you had better be reading DataChasers.

And Luna-Star has Officially Finished.  All that is left is the last few wrap up pages.  I really, Really, REally, REAlly, REALly, REALLy, REALLY want to get it nominated for a Hugo next year.  Can you help me do that?  Go to Luna-Star, and click on the link to take you to the First Page, and read on from there.

Seriously, I think both Luna-Star AND DataChasers deserve a nomination for a Hugo, however Luna-Star has finished it's run/arc so it is definitely eligible for nomination, and I'm not sure if DataChasers will finish it's arc before the end of the year.  It's run however is to continue as it is a continuing story.

And let all of your friends know about Luna-Star and DataChasers.

Also please sign up for a free Comic Fury account and subscribe to DataChasers and Luna-Star.

I have no connection to Comic Fury or the Authors of DataChasers and Luna-Star other than I enjoy their work.

ETA: The artists of DataChasers have been going back and remastering their early posts, condensing multiple pages into one, redoing the art, tweaking the story.  So if you see the art style change from page to page, that is why.  They aren't resting on their laurels, they are constantly striving to improve their art and tightening up their story to make it more entertaining.

Why aren't you reading Luna-Star and DataChasers?

Galina is in the heart of the Epiphyte ship, trying to disable the Beacon.  Before it destroys her, and drives most of the population of Earth insane.

To read more, go to Luna-Star.

Why does Malati have her blade to Irene's throat?  And why is Maxus covered in blood?

If you don't read DataChasers, you won't find out.

Remember, both DataChasers and Luna-Star are hosted by Comic Fury.  So sign up for a Free account and subscribe to both of them.  It's not required though.  But it would be nice to get both of them over 300 Subscribers.

And Remember, Luna-Star is close to the End.  As in the story, plot, EVERYTHING is finished.

As such.  I hope to be able to Nominate it next year for a Hugo Award.  Read Luna-Star and see if you agree with my decision.  And also maybe you'll help me get it a Nomination.

And both DataChasers and Luna-Star have something very unique.

Comment Sections which draw you into the conversations.  Theories are exchanged, the Creators of the series also interact with the commenters, and while you don't get "Spoilers" per se, you do get hints and gentle nudges.

In many places it is said "Don't Read The Comments", not at DataChasers and Luna-Star.  They are both places where you DO want to read the comments.  That is just one more reason you should sign up for a Comic Fury account.  So you can join in the discussions in the comment sections.  They are THAT GOOD.

Hugo Voters Sasquan Members

Have you submitted your ballot for this years Hugo Awards?

I just finished mine and sent it in.  You have until July 31st, 2015 to get your ballot filled out and sent in.

So go to Sasquan.org, sign in, and fill out your ballot. Don't forget to click Save All Choices.

If you run a Script Blocker as part of your browser Security, you will need to authorize sasquan.org to run the script to register your ballot.

And don't forget if you haven't already, be sure to register for next years Con at MidAmerica Con II in Kansas City Missouri.

It took me several weeks to read through all the submissions for this years Hugo's and I was actually surprised I enjoyed Three Body Problem by Cixin Liu as much as I did. So you never know, you might find something in next years submission pack to turn you on to some new authors for your library.

The Hugo Awards - Have you Registered for Sasquan to vote?

Are you an avid Science Fiction and Fantasy reader like I am? Would you like to be one of the people who help to choose the Hugo Awards? You can be.

Any person who registers for and pays for a Membership the World Science Fiction Society can nominate and vote on the works that are eligible for Science Fiction and Fantasy Publishing's Premier Award, the Hugo Award.

This year World Con is being held at Sasquan, where the voting will take place. You don't have to be present to vote though. You can vote in person, via U.S. Postal Service Mail, or via E-mail.

As a Voting Member you will receive copies of the nominated works, so that you can read them for yourself and make your determination as to which ones you wish to vote for.

If you are interested you can buy a "Membership" for as little as $40.00.

Note that the $40.00 Membership is NOT for if you actually wish to attend Sasquan. However you are able to nominate and vote for any eligible/nominated works. If you do wish to attend, there is an additional Entry/Attending Fee. They do have payment plans available, if like me you are on a tight budget.

Even though I would love to go, I have kids still in school so in August when the Con is, I would be unable to go, as that would be during the first few weeks of school for my kids.

I DO however plan on Submitting my votes for the Hugo Awards.

In fact I plan on registering for next years Worldcon next month, although the Membership is $50.00 for it. That one, I probably might be able to attend, as I can make proper arrangements for my kids and I can save up the funds necessary to go.

So what about you?

Are you going to sign up?
