SJWs Are Purging Politically Incorrect Sci-Fi Authors From Bookstores

"Social Justice Warriors are once again demonstrating their political intolerance and hostility to free creative expression. It’s happening in an arena we’ve covered before – the world of sci-fi and fantasy publishing.

File 770, the blog of three-time Hugo Award winner Mike Glyer, reports that bookstore owners in Toronto are being approached with negative information about authors who participated in the Sad Puppies Hugo Awards campaign.

The Sad Puppies campaign, as explained in the hyperlink above, was an attempt to expose political favouritism and intolerance in the sci-fi and fantasy community. If this latest incident is anything to go by, it continues to be a dispiriting success.

According to a commenter at File 770:

I’ve talked to a couple of book store owners in Toronto and someone is sending out Jim Hines roundup of the SP/RP affair. As a result, they are stopping making orders for [Larry] Correia, [John C.] Wright, [Brad] Torgersen, [Mike] Williamson and others of the worst broadcasters who have supported homophobic statements. I would assume the originator is part of Toronto’s gay community (which was oddly intertwined for years when Baka Books and the GLAAD bookstore were next door). It’s only the independents that I’ve heard so far, but if it hits Book City or Indigo, that could be a big repercussion

The commenter is, of course, incorrect to suggest that the authors have made homophobic statements. Williamson is a self-proclaimed libertarian, and there are no records of Correia or Torgersen making controversial statements about homosexuality."


Thereby PROVING the entire reason for the "Sad Puppies" campaign.

The Hugo Awards - Have you Registered for Sasquan to vote?

Are you an avid Science Fiction and Fantasy reader like I am? Would you like to be one of the people who help to choose the Hugo Awards? You can be.

Any person who registers for and pays for a Membership the World Science Fiction Society can nominate and vote on the works that are eligible for Science Fiction and Fantasy Publishing's Premier Award, the Hugo Award.

This year World Con is being held at Sasquan, where the voting will take place. You don't have to be present to vote though. You can vote in person, via U.S. Postal Service Mail, or via E-mail.

As a Voting Member you will receive copies of the nominated works, so that you can read them for yourself and make your determination as to which ones you wish to vote for.

If you are interested you can buy a "Membership" for as little as $40.00.

Note that the $40.00 Membership is NOT for if you actually wish to attend Sasquan. However you are able to nominate and vote for any eligible/nominated works. If you do wish to attend, there is an additional Entry/Attending Fee. They do have payment plans available, if like me you are on a tight budget.

Even though I would love to go, I have kids still in school so in August when the Con is, I would be unable to go, as that would be during the first few weeks of school for my kids.

I DO however plan on Submitting my votes for the Hugo Awards.

In fact I plan on registering for next years Worldcon next month, although the Membership is $50.00 for it. That one, I probably might be able to attend, as I can make proper arrangements for my kids and I can save up the funds necessary to go.

Why the Sad Puppies?

Larry once again went afisking as Larry does.

"Here’s the thing, Teresa. You don’t speak for all of fandom. You don’t own them. You don’t even speak for all of the TrueFans or SMOF or whatever you want to call them. At the end he links to Sarah Hoyt, who tells her experiences in SF&F publishing that are the REASON we NEED Sad Puppies.

"One time I came into the room at a con and found one of my editors talking to another of my editors. I could tell from the expression, the startled look at me, that news that I might be a – dropped voice — conservative had been conveyed. I hoped I was being paranoid, but I wasn’t. My treatment by that other house immediately changed, overnight.

So I lived in fear, unable to associate normally or make friends with anyone. It was like being spied on all the time and knowing the worst construction would be put on my actions and words, even if the actions and words were not political, even if I just forgot what the week’s hate and the week’s cause was."

Seriously go read both of those. When certain people go out of their way to INTENTIONALLY harm another through making it so they cannot work/publish, those people have become tyrants.

And in my personal opinion, "Death to Tyrants" through a thousand cuts such as the fiskings Larry does, which have become legendary in their own right.

So all of you SJW's, who get offended at the drop of a dangling participle, we are sick of being shoved aside, and tired of being belittled by such as you.

So watch out.  "Conservative" writers, authors, blogger and all the rest are coming to take back what you thought of as exclusively "Yours", and make it Everyone's.

"Wow, so much has changed in a year. And I have some bad news for these gender feminist dingbats: we haven’t even really marshaled all our forces.

Secondly, there is no way to present quotes about marginalizing the “underrepresented” from us that don’t exist or hiding your own mountain of racist supremacist quotes. There are open and public quotes that point to collusion or outright admit they won’t deal with literature by straight white men. On the other hand, the idea straight white men have ever conspired to do that is a straight up lie.

I have yet to see a single Tweet urging whites to read whites, men to read men, or heterosexuals to read heterosexuals, or arranging that into awards or symposiums. The Tweets in the other direction is a flood.

I see some tough times ahead for intersectionalists. The truth is no one was doing a single thing to gays, women or non-whites in the SFF field but now you’ve made genuine enemies. They’re not enemies because of who you are but what you say. You could’ve just written some good fiction and let it sit there like everyone else instead of marking us all for a KKK but you couldn’t do that. So, deal with the push back."
