And I just bought it.  The deadtree version is currently sold out, but since I do 90% of my reading on my computer, phone or tablet I was just waiting for the Kindle version to come out.

I'm still waiting for OldNFO aka J.L. Curtis to announce the release of the next book in his Grey Man series.  I was one of the Alpha readers on parts of it to catch some of the errors and I CANNOT wait until I can finish reading the rest.  I keep re-reading the sections he sent me over and over plus the first two of the series to try to keep from having withdrawal symptoms.

If you don't hear from me over the weekend, I'm either at the range shooting a couple of new toys or reading.

A Prediction…

The destruction of our Armed forces by the Obama Administration

is progressing. I hate to say this, but I think that by this time next year, our military forces will be hard pressed to operate at even 40% of their mandated capacity.  The draw down of forces, the reduction of training, maintenance and benefits, is all a plan by the current administration to reduce our country's military and to "Level the Field" and give greater emphasis to "United Nations" operations.  In other words, we will not be able to fulfill our obligations and as such would have our remaining forces swept under the banner of the UN as peacekeeping forces for use outside of our country, ONLY.  If our forces are reduced and deployed to other places, they cannot be used in the United States to uphold Oaths they swore.

I know, I'm being all conspiracy theory and stuff.  However look at what is happening to our country and our military since the current administration took office.  Seriously.  Look at the executive orders, look at the public statements, look at all the various deals that have been made.  Then tell me that something "ISN'T" Rotten in the state of Denmark, or the US of A.

"Well, until someone relieves us of the requirement, or they're no longer mission-effective," he said. "At the end of the day, I've invested in their training. They're forward-deployed. I don't have to retrain them. The problem is, how long can we keep them ready at a proper level out there on deployment until their reliefs are properly trained?"

Things our Military does you don't know

"One Mig was VERY aggressive in his 'push', so we decided to fix his butt...We were at the Southern end of our track and getting close to our offsta time, so we called the F-4 (who conveniently was off the oppositewing) and told him we were going to slow down.  We dropped to 180 kts, the F-4 dropped flaps, leading edge, etc. and was basically hanging on the engines, and we noted the Mig was starting to wallow a bit. We kept coming back on the power, down to 160, then 150, then 140.  All the while we were gradually descending from 5000 to 3000 feet.  Finally at about 140 kts, the Mig departed and stalled/pitched over..."

Cuban Missile Crisis- War Avoided - Backstory

From Old NFO we find about a US Air Force B-52 Crew doing their job.

"On that breezy, sunny October  day, I was one of the pilots in the lead B-52 of the two aircraft formation which had received the command message while on alert to launch our aircraft, proceed to our airborne orbit points off the boundary of the Soviet Union, and wait for the execution message to strike the heartland of Russia.  We were not the only strike aircraft launching.  Alert aircraft in pairs from almost every SAC combat base in the United States were scrambling to get airborne and to precede to their strike orbit points.  Our mission was somewhat different because our course would take us in the vicinity of Cuba.  We were directed to vector our course so as to fly over the Russian ships off the coast of Cuba and to report our sightings to SAC headquarters."
