"After a series of coordinated terrorist attacks left 129 dead in Paris Friday, Hollande immediately declared a state of emergency, based on a rarely used 1955 law that allows the state to conduct warrantless searches of private property, impose curfews, restrict public gatherings and movements of people, confiscate weapons at will and take over the press.

By law the state of emergency cannot last more than 12 days, but Hollande asked for a three-month extension Monday. He also proposed a series of constitutional amendments to increase the state’s surveillance powers and give it power to strip convicted terrorists and bi-nationals who commit hostile acts toward France of citizenship.

Hollande said the amendments are necessary so the state doesn’t have to “resort to the state of emergency” to deal with terror threats. “We must change our constitution to act against terrorism,” he said Monday."

Even though it has been mangled by later tellings, Benjamin Franklin's original still says it best.

"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

And France, who has strict Gun Control, now chisels away at it's Citizens remaining Freedoms. All for a a false sense of Security.

I don't know any other explanation for why it suddenly switches to emergency calls only and activates both the Wi-Fi and the Data mode at the same time when they had been shut off.

It's getting a little old having to pull the battery everytime it does that.

So please.

Go bother a terrorist in another country, which is supposed to be your job in the first place.

Remember when bad G.W. Bush signed the PATRIOT Act?

Do you remember when Obama signed it's renewal?  And it wasn't even legally signed.  It was signed by an Autopen.  Obama never actually sat down and signed it.

"The White House said Obama had signed the bill from Europe using an autopen machine that holds a pen and signs his actual signature. It is only used with proper authorization of the president. The action comes a month after intelligence and military forces hunted down Usama bin Laden."

So for all those leftists screaming this is all President Bush's fault, your own beloved dear leader RENEWED that piece of legislation, and has since then strengthened it.  But according to you, this is all Bush's fault.

Seriously, you all need to get your heads examined.  To blame Bush for OBAMA not only renewing but expanding the scope of the PATRIOT Act, you people are straight out flipping insane.

I seriously fear for your mental stability and physical health.  Have you had your blood pressure checked lately?  How about a stress test for your heart?  And you seriously need to get a psych exam.  Because you people are OUT THERE.

Put it all together it is very disturbing

One of the other comments I read "somewhere" mentioned the murders of the Vietnamese leaders by the Communists in Hue City, Viet Nam.  The Communists knew who they were looking for and knew where they lived.  They went in at night and arrested them, then murdered them.  Same thing happened during the years when Hitler was consolidating his power in Germany and again throughout the Soviet Union when the Communists wanted to secure their power there.  They knew who they wanted, they knew where they were, they just went and got them when the time was right.  It happens during every government takeover.  Prevents (or minimizes) an uprising and possible revolution, ya know..."
