How it's supposed to be.

Sunday, I took my friend Troy and his 2 sons over to my families property, (2.5 Acres) to shoot off a few rounds. Well in this part of Texas it's F-L-A-T. So if I'm going to do some shooting, I need to make sure my bullets don't go where they are not supposed to. Well along one side of the family property there is a drainage ditch, which last month the county cleaned out and took down an additional 2 feet. Which gave me a very good berm to shoot into. So instead of a 2 and half foot to 3 foot berm, I had almost 5 feet of berm to shoot into. Well we took my G-3 Clone, my SKS, my Mav 88 12 gauge, in addition to Troy's 20 ga/.22 LR Rossi combo gun. We were having a ball, shooting at tin cans, and a board I set up in the ditch. Then suddenly, I saw a Sheriffs car driving down the road. So Troy and I took all the weapons unloaded them and set them on the hood of the Suburban, and waited for the sheriff to come on over, as I saw him doing the slow drive by, so I knew he was looking for the entry to the property. Finally he came on over, I made sure we all were standing away from the 'Burb, our hands out of our pockets. He stopped about 15 feet away, and I approaced him with my hands at my sides, a little away from my body so he could see they were empty. I stopped about 5 feet in front of his car, making sure I wasn't blocking his view of Troy and his boys, ( a 15 year old and a 10 year old). I waited for him to get out of his car, as he did I could see he relaxed as he chacked all of our hands which were all in plain sight. He asked me if we were shooting I said "Yes sir." He asked if I owned the property, I said, "My family owns it sir, it's in the family trust" He asked if I had some I.D. I siad "Yes sir, left front pocket." He asked to see it, I got it out and handed it to him. He asked what were shooting. I told him "My SKS, C-91, 12 Gauge Pump, and a 20 gauge/22 combo gun" He asked what were shooting into. I told him "The berm of the ditch, as it's the only sure backstop we have until mom and I can rent a dozer to put up a good one for a backstop" He simply nodded then called in my license number to dispatch, and told them we were shooting a few semi auto's into the ditch, and he didn't find anything wrong. He then handed me back my license and thanked us for our cooperation, and then got in his car and left. That is how it should be handled. He verified we were shooting in a responsible manner made sure who we were and then left. I, when I saw him coming, I stopped and unloaded all weapons and put them where if he wanted to could examine for himself to ensure they were unloaded and no threat to him, then we all stood away from the vehicle where the weapons were, with our hands in plain sight so he could see we weren't offering any threat. After he left we went back to shooting for another 30 minutes, as the 10 year old was getting really good with the .22. Finally we cleaned up all of our shot up cans, picked up all the brass and shell casings, came home and started cleaning guns.

That is how you are to do it. If a L.E.O. comes over while you are shooting, unload and secure your weapon where he can see it isn't loaded. Stand away from your weapons with your hands in plain sight, so he can see you don't have a weapon to possibly harm him. If he asks for Identification, tell him which pocket it is in before you reach for it, and don't get too close to the officer until he has determined the situation. Answer any questions the officer asks you immediately, and don't try to be evasive, Most officers have a built in BS detector and can tell. Just tell him the truth. Remember, he has to ensure 3 things. His safety, the public's safety, and then your safety in that order. His safety comes first. So don't offer anything to him which might make him think you're a threat to him, especially since he doesn't know you from Adam.

Enjoy yourself, and be safe.

Some more gratuitous Gun Pron

I figured what they hey lets see if maybe I can get some linkage by posting some Gun Pron.

Here we go......

First up, my Taurus Revolver. I have carried this revolver for 10 years doing security in the Hell-Holes Known as Public Housing Authority buildings in North St. Louis City and County. Shown with my 4 speed-loaders and 2 knives which I carry almost everywhere I go, if I"m more than 20 minutes form the house.

This is my High Standard Model k1200 Riot Gun. I purchased this from a former sheriff in Missouri. Very very smooooooth.

This is my Romanian SKS with a folding stock from ATI and a 30rnd detachale magazine that took 6 hours of hand fitting to get it to feed right. Remember if you want to use detachable mags on a SKS they will need to be fitted to YOUR weapon. My mags will only works in my weapon, and that is only after filing, and bending the sheet metal to get to function right. And I'm not trying to be "Takti-Kool" I put a folding stock on this so it would fit behind the seat of my truck. The High Cap Mag is so the kids and I can plink without having to reload as much.

This is my newest acquisition. A Maverick 88 12 gauge pump with 5 round magazine. It now has an ATI folding stock and 18.5 inch barrel. I have a new green Hi-Viz front sight which I installed on the 28 inch barrel, and I have an extra to install on the 185 inch barrel.

Here it is with the 18.5 inch barrel and the folding stock. Once again I"m not trying to be takti-kool, it's just a LOT easier to store it this way.

This pic shows the SKS and the Mav 88 with their stocks folded and tucked under the table.

Here is my 1911A1, it's a Norinco but shoots very well the only mods are the pachmyer grips and some white out on the sights.

Well maybe I can has some linkage :o) We will see....

I'm looking for some help

I have a CAI (Century Arms International) C91/G-3 Clone. It isn't accurate enough. what I would like is a new barrel, and new sights. Does anyone know where I can get a barrel for my rifle made to my specifications? My specs are 22-24 inch barrel, threaded with standard HK Threads for a comp/flash hider, No Grenade Launcher ring fluted heavy barrel, with a 1 in 10.5 RH twist, 4 lands, Chromed chamber and bore still with the fluted chamber. I'd also like to get the sights replaced as these, especially the rear sight aren't in line according to the last target I fired. If anyone knows where I can get this, and preferably someone in Texas to do the work, but anyone who can do the barrel for a decent price. Please let me know. I'd like to start competing again and as I no longer have my MK4 #1 SMLE, I need a rifle which WILL allow me to make the 600 and 800 meter shots reliably with open sights. The last time I competed, out of a field of 27 I placed 19th. I'd like to get myself where I can at least place top 10. I'm not looking to compete for money, I just enjoy the challenge of shooting at target far enough away I can barely see them. It forces me to take my time in a hurry, and it's really satifyingto see that I can still hit the target.

This is my rifle, yes it's an EBR, and yes that is my 1911A1 under the movies on the seat, and yes those are extra mags for the 1911A1. I want to make this rifle a tack driver, because actually to me it's more enjoyable than my old MK4 #1, with less recoil, and the ammo is a heck of a lot cheaper.

Trying to get things done

and Blog talk won't let me schedule my shows. 2nd day in a row I couldn't schedule my show. I'm starting to get a little miffed. With everything I have going on between driving the kids, the Ex-Wife, the neighbor, the other neighbor plus health problems, driving on average 150 miles a day, and never going more than 40 miles from the house. It's getting real old real quick. Huuummmmmmmmmmm huuummmmmmmmm de-escalate your frustrations, feel the force, Oh, wait wrong movie. Well I've gotten some things done. I've made 4 more pieces of jewelry to sell, I've finally gotten the stupid pinned on compensator off the end of my C91/G-3 clone, just need to put some rounds through it to see if that helps the accuracy, if not it's time for a rebarrel. If it won't do 4 M.O.A. or less at 150 meters with Iron sights, the barrel is G.O.N.E. My SKS gets 6 M.O.A. at 150 so my german clone rifle should get 4. I'm really hoping to get the rifle to do 3-5 at 300 meters however my eyes are NOT that good, so I might have to bite the bullet and look for a decent scope and mount for it.

I'm off to run again, Ex-Wife just called, asking me to pick her up at work. I will be sooooo glad when she gets another car.

Exhaustion

has become a very intimate companion to me right now. Tuesday I had to drive from my home by Corpus Christi Texas to Hollister Missouri, by Branson. I drove straight through, loaded up and drove straight back. 31 hours of driving, and I was awake for almost 43 hours. I am just now recovering from it. So please be a little patient.

It's a few days after the election

the euphoria and the disappointment is starting to fade. The next few months will be the biggest test of all for our country. Some individuals will not accept the will of the people. Others will deny it. Yet others will use what happened as an excuse for their actions. We must be vigilant against the extremism of both sides of this unusual equation. The whole world is watching us. Judging us, and certain individuals and organizations will be testing us.

There is much more that I could say, however I will not. I will not be seen as an alarmist, or a reactionary.

I would ask you to take stock of your life and make the necessary preparations for yourself and your family. And please pray for our country's leadership, and our people.

Working on my cabin

This is what I started with many weeks back

This is after a few hours of work with just me and my 2nd oldest.

Again 2 weeks later, just me and her working.

This is me and my Ex wife helping me.

And finally me my 2 oldest daughters, Ex Wife and good Friend Troy.

I have to shore up the base and get the posts set up to run the 2"X8" floor joists, and I haven't decided if I want to pour Concrete for the main bases yet. But right now 5 grown ups can pick up the whole thing and move it. I still have to get the roof struts in place then I need put in the center beam and start the loft. I still haven't decided if I"m going to side it, or use ferrocrete for the exterior walls.

Gun Pr0n

Well I talked about cleaning it on my show last night so here it is.

My Norinco M1911A1 .45 ACP. With the evacuation plus bombing the house to get the saw palmetto and other assorted bug infestation gone, (which isn't working too well BTW) I've been out in the RV next to the house and the kids have been back at their mothers house. So me and my various firearms have been out in the RV with no A/C. Well I live bout good hard stones throw from the Gulf of Mexico, so humidity has been playing havoc on my blued weapons. So last night I wanted to clean them. Here is my .45 after a thourough strip and clean.

The only modifications to this pistol is I polished the feedramp, Pachmayer Gripper grips and white out on the front and rear sights for easier sight acqusistion in low light. It hits a 9 inch pie pan everytime at 50 feet, I'm satisfied.

Been sleeping in the RV for the last few days

and I have a RV guest..

You may recognize my cat Tufts. She prefers to drink out of my cup or glass, rather than use a bowl, and she loves to sleep in weird places and positions. She also loves to sit in front of the fan so I get cat hair blown all over me while I'm sleeping :o)

I'm hoping to get back into the house this evening so I can get some needed things done.

I'll let ya know.

Ok, Home now and recovered

I slept almost all day yesterday, and all of last night. I no longer have the fuzzy feeling in my head, and my sinuses are starting to clear up finally. Tonight I will restart my show, I will send an e-mail to LawDog and set up a new date for the interview. I need to find a way to get internet up at the family property, I just can't afford it.

Hurricane Ike

A mandatory evacuation has been called for all the counties in the Texas Gulf Coastal Bend. Right where I live. So, the kids and I are heading out with my other family members, the RV, Suburban, Mom's S-10, Mom's Taurus, My cousin's Explorer and Windstar, plus 3 trailers, 1 car hauler, landscape, and an enclosed shop trailer. We're packing things up, cleaning out all the perishable foods in the freezers. In other words I'll be out of contact for a bit. So my show will be on hold, and I will more than likely have to reschedule the interview with LawDog. I don't have internet access at the family property, but I do have Yahoo Messenger on my cell phone, so that's how I will be keeping in touch.

Please don't worry too much abut us. It would be appreciated if you would pray everyone in this area.

uuuhhhhmmmmmm

I've been trying to figure out exactly how to write this post, and what to title it. It's hard at times to admit that things "Aren't Going Well" Especially when you are male. Well between resupplying my kids for school, (clothes, shoes, back packs, notebooks, paper, pencils pens etc) and paying all the other bills I have, (electric, phone, insurance etc) I find myself 6 days into the new month flat broke. Seriously. I just payed all the bills online, (and get a 2% rebate on 2 of them for doing so) and check my bank account. $3.82 OUCH!If it weren't for the fact that I had already filled the tank on the suburban, I wouldn't be able to take the kids to San Antonio this weekend. (Before you ask my mother buys season passes to Sea World in San Antonio for us every year as Christmas Gifts for us) And I take the kids there once a month all year long, as a reward for working hard in school and keeping their chores done. Normally this isn't a problem, however with 7 kids growing like weeds, I couldn't go with the hand me down route for clothes, and the local second-hand store had no clothes suitable for my 2 oldest daughters for school so I had to bite the bullet and buy them new, and as all the major chain stores don't sell the odd sizes my daughters are that hurt me even worse.

I am medically retired/disabled, as such my monthly income is only abut $1,400.00 a month. Up until now, I was managing without having to ask my family for assistance. I could cut my mothers grass to cover my gas for the suburban to drive the kids where they needed to go. A riding mower doesn't kill my back, like trying to use a push mower did the last time I tried it. My ex-wife is supposed to pay me $100.00 a month in child support, but she hasn't had the money and since she's been helping me with the kids, getting them from here to there, and helping out in the house I haven't asked her for it. But I don't know what to do or where to go about this. I don't want to ask for money, as I've always worked and this is embarrassing to me. I don't want to go the pawn shop route, as they will not give me anything near the value for the item I might try to get a loan against, and the only things I've got would be my tools, and I need them or my firearms, and I DO NOT under any circumstances want to have any weapon on mine out of my immediate control for any reason. So I'm in a quandary. What can I do? I am physically unable to do the work I am trained to do. And I am unable to do a large portion of other occupations, due to my spine and nerve damage.

I'm praying. Hopefully I can find some way of reconciling this in the next few days.

Thank you for letting me rant a bit on this. Just typing it out has given me a few ideas, but I won't know how feasible these will be.

Apologies to listeners of my show

and readers of my blog.

I have been having some health problems that have precluded me from doing the show and updating the blog on a timely basis.

To wit. I have herniated 2 more disc's in my back/neck. The one in my neck is the worst of the two. I have very bad pain in my neck which radiates to my shoulder and halfway down my right upper arm, making my right index finger numb and tingly. It makes it very, very hard to sleep and also very hard to do almost anything. Driving is a very painful struggle and with getting ready for all 7 of the kids to go back to school I have been doing a LOT of driving. This morning it was so bad I had to go to the Emergency Department in Corpus because I was in so much pain I didn't feel I could drive the 35 miles back to the house. After talking to the DR and explaining the situation, the DR agreed with my assessment and gave me a shot of Toradol. Blessed Relief..... I was actually able to drive back home and get 3 un-interrputed hours of sleep, with minimal pain. Hopefully when I get to my Pain Management DR next tuesday, I will be able to get the nerve root injection performed. His office is already applying for approval from the insurance company. Hopefully the approval will be there so I can get the shot. In the future I might need to go ahead and get the surgery to get the disc removed and I don't know if they do a fusion on a cervical disc or if there is another option. All I know is that if the nerve rot injection doesn't help that may be my only option.

Apologies again to my listeners and readers. I'm going to try to be on schedule with the show and do more here on the blog. However pain makes it's own schedule and it doesn't always agree with mine.

God Bless you all

Pet problems

I don't know just what is going on but my pets are getting hurt for some reason.

Emmett, my ex-wife's lab mix somehow gets his front legs run over by a car, when he's laying on the side of the road by the kids. They're not broken but he is in a lot of pain. The kids say they were crossing the street and the car just flew down the street swerving to hit Emmett at the last second. My youngest daughter came screaming in the house to get me. I found Emmett lying in the ditch about 4 feet from where my daughter says he was lying down when he was hit. I carried him inside and set him down and checked him out. He has some cuts and scrapes, and a little bit of swelling but no broken bones. He is laying on the couch right now, with triple anti-biotic on his wounds. He didn't like the crushed aspirin I gave him, but he's sleeping peacefully.

His younger brother Jazzy, started whining yesterday but I couldn't find any reason until I tried to check his ears. That was the first time Jazzy had ever tried to bite me. The reason for his whining and his trying to bite me? He has a tick in his ear. And it's far enough in I can't get it out without risking damaging his eardrum.

So tomorrow, I'll be taking Emmett and Jazzy to the vet to get Emmett's legs x-rayed just to make sure, and have the vet remove the tick in Jazzy's ear and check it for any nasties which could make him sick.

UGH!! Between the kids school clothes and supplies and now this. I am running out of money. Plus next week I have to go to a doctor in St. Louis. I'm driving as I no longer have faith in the TSA to allow my .38 Taurus to travel unmolested. I'll borrow my mother's S-10 as my Suburban uses way too much gas, and I can't afford that right now.

Oh, the Doctor in St. Louis is a Neurologist. I'm seeing him abut my nerve damage from my back surgery. Hopefully I can get some answers on this so I can get my treatment modified.

I'm sorry for ranting, but sometimes I just need to vent.

One is none two is one

A rather large group of very intelligent individuals that I am associated with, has this saying. "One is none, and two is one." What that means is if you only have one of something and it breaks you are out of luck. Hence if you have two of something and one breaks you have the other as a back-up. Now many people would say that this large group of people I gladly and willingly associate myself with are nuts for a certain belief we have. What is that belief? That there will be a breakdown in societal order at some time, and to prepare for it. What you consider a break-down and what I consider a break-down are probably 2 entirely different things. Many people look at the site and paint anyone associated with it with a broad paintbrush as crazy loonies who desire a societal breakdown. Nothing could be further from the truth. I don't desire to lose my power from a storm knocking over the powerlines. I don't desire the emergency responders to be so busy that my and my families personal safety are compromised, from something like a hurricane or an earthquake. I don't desire to have to defend myself and family and our belongings because individuals decide they want to take what is mine. But at the same time I realize that the possibility exists, that this situation has happened in the past and as our society's infrastructure grows, the possibility of it happening again grows with it. No system is ever fool proof, idiot proof, or disaster proof. As such I feel that as a repsonsible parent I need to prepare for the possibility that it will happen. As such I have back-ups, and back-ups to my back-ups.

A major hurricane hits the gulf coast region, (where I live currently) knocking out power for thousands if not millions of families. Roads are closed, flooded, covered in debris. I can't get to the store, and even if I could, the stores if they aren't closed from the lack of power might be flooded, and the goods it contains might be unusable/inedible. In all this one of my children falls and cuts themself. There is no ambulance the roads are closed, plus the emergency services are more than likely overwhelmed by others. The storm caused a tree to fall on the powerlines near my house, cutting power and phone service to my neighborhood. The lines are still live, and sparking, but they also supply the cell tower which is now under 2-3 feet of water so it's backup generator isn't operating either. That's right, no house phone, no cell phone, and no power, with a live electrical line arcing in standing water which may or may not be surrounding your house.

Or an earthquake hits, roads impassable, power out, no phone's cell phone's and you smell gas.

What are you going to do? What method do you have to protect your family? What preparations do you have to protect your family? How are you going to deal with an injury? What are you going to feed your family? If you have food how are you going to prepare it? Do you have clean drinking water? What about your sanitation needs? If the toilet won't flush?

One is none........

Two is one.........

Preparation and knowledge before an emergency saves lives.

And those lives might be you or your family

You would think there war a hurricane coming...

Well there was, just not here. But that didn't stop the local stores from stocking up on bread eggs water so forth and some such. When I stopped at the store sunday there was pallets and pallets of water in the aisle's and in front of the shelves. I should have taken a picture then but didn't. However I did take one the next day.

Just the day before these shelves were FULL of water and there were 6 pallets in the aisle in front of this rack. There were also 8 pallets by the door next to the pharmacy and 4 by the door in produce. When I took this picture they were all gone except for this. Hmmm, I wonder why anyone would need that much water.......

These next 2 pictures are to show the higher than normal tides. The first pic is the back of my mothers neighbors house. Mom lives on a channel and her neighbors dock is a little low but I have never seen their dock completely under water, like this.......

You can't tell but it looked like the dock was about 8 inches under the water level. Now my mom, here dock normally sits about 2 and a half to 3 feet out of the water at high tide. This is what her dock looked like.....

The water looks to be a little over a foot from the dock. I fish from this dock normally with my feet hanging over the edge, and I normally have to stretch out my foot to try to touch the water at high tide. At low tide I've stood in the channel and the dock comes up to chest. Now I'm 6'3" so for the water to be this high there has to be something afoot.

What was the reason for the high water? Hurricane Dolly. Well it's declining now but the storms are around and probably will be until this weekend. Hopefully it won't be so bad as to turn my yard into a swimming pool again :)

Obama Jugend

From The Northern Muckracker I learn about this. It seems I've heard about something like this before here. Now many of you might not know, but I am an amateur military historian, as such I've studied WWII and the U.S. Civil War quite extensively. I am quite familiar with some of the machinations of Mr. Schicklgruber as he has been known by some. Including the fanaticism of him and some of his followers. Barack Hussein Obama II, and his followers have espoused ideals and beliefs of many former despots and dictators, I say former as they are dead now. However Obama and his cronies in the Liberal wing of the Democratic Party, seem to think they can prove correct, the broken policies that brought a group of nations under the heel of totalitarianism, for the betterment of mankind. OhhhhhhKay. What is the old quote? "Those who fail to learn from the past, are doomed to repeat it"? It is the height of hubris to think that "they" know better than you or I about what we want or need. And yet he still panders himself to the blue collar and the uber rich of our society, in a vain attempt to appear as the answer to everyone's problems. Who will pay the piper for his policies? How many more of our liberities will we lose? How many more times will we allow the politicians to rape the Constitution and the Bill of Rights?

Make your own determinations. Make your own judgements. Just please do not follow the propaganda of the various political parties and their mouthpieces.

Adventures in parenting

Some may be wondering where I've been the last few weeks. Well I haven't really gone anywhere, I've just been home with the kids. All seven of them. If I ran away would they bring me back? My hairline is retreating faster than ever, and my beard which was maybe 60% gray is almost 95% gray now. Between the kids destroying the house while I'm out and the computers doing really weird things which may or may not be kid created, I'm barely treading water. Then the financial hit starts. With the kids eating here at home instead of at school, food consumption here at the house has tripled. Add in trying keep the kids occupied by going to our families property 120 miles away, the beach in town 6 miles away and the beach in Port Aransas 18 miles away, the high cost of fuel has me struggling to make all the ends meet somewhere in the middle. Yesterday was my oldest sons 12th birthday. If he doesn't stop changing the settings on my computers he might not make it to 13.

Well I promise as soon as the kids go back to school I'll be posting more. Of course when they go back to school I hope to go back myself to finish my degree, of course changing from Paramedical-Technologies to History means my pre-requisites have changed. So I might be a little busy myself for a bit.

I thought having this old laptop would make my writing easier. Now it's actually harder. Unless I keep it on 24/7 by the time it boots up and is ready to go. I've lost my train of thought. Plus I think my Muse went on summer vacation like my kids are. AD however found his, hitchiking on a desolate road. She is now back for him. I just wish I could find mine.

Heller vs D.C.

The opinion is in. And it states that the 2nd Amendment is an INDIVIDUAL right not a collective right as many Anti's have stated and would like everyone to believe. That being said, the decision does not state that the D.C. government cannot require licensing for any firearms. Meaning they could require the licensing to be rather arbitrary and expensive.

The link to the decision is HERE

As I sit here

printing off the programs for the second marriage I've participated in and the first where I am the officiating Minister, I'm nervous, very very nervous. In the previous ceremony i just assisted with the communion. On this one I'm the whole deal. 2 more hours to go.

I have been staying out of the FLDS story

up until now for a reason. I didn't have enough information to make an informed decision. That changed about 30 minutes ago while going through the news and finding out the Judge in charge of the case nixed a deal which would return children to their mothers, by requiring additional conditions which Texas Children Protective Services had NOT asked for. So I dug further. THIS is the most detailed in my opinion, please be sure to check the internal links as well, they give additional information which may help you make an informed decision relating to the matter. I won't tell you how I think or feel on this. This is something each person has to come to terms with on their own, and make their own decision.

About the teacher in Florida

LawDog and Sue Doe Nim have posts up about a Teacher in the Florida school system who took a small 5 year old student who might suffer from Aspergers Syndrome, and belittled him in class, by having him stand up in front of his class and having his classmates tell him what they don't like about him. I won't write much about this but I am going to post the letter I wrote to the teacher involved.

Ms. Portillo,

As a parent of 7 children, including an 11 year old boy with Aspergers Syndrome and a 10 year old girl with ADHD, I have to ask you what part of the training you received, informed you that to belittle a child in front of his/her peers is a good thing?

As a Minister I have counseled many people who have received treatment such as you have "bestowed" upon a small 5 year old child. At 5 the psyche of a child is very fragile and fluid. We are supposed to cradle the psyche and nurture it, not tear it down with a wrecking ball of scorn. That you would do so shows a lack of understanding of a child's psyche, and no understanding at all of a special needs child.

This child deserves a complete and honest apology from you, your administrators and guidance counselors from your school, for you and they have failed this child, and his parents trust.

You are there to educate children, teach them how to think. Give them the foundation for the rest of their academic lives. You have failed, not just this child, but every child in your class. You taught those children it is all right to ridicule someone who is different, or may have problems.

By your actions, you have shown those children that intolerance of being different is ok. I won't say that you have opened the way for intolerance such as Racism or Bigotry, but children learn many things which we don't wish them to. It is up to us as adults, Teachers and Ministers to teach them right from wrong. And through your actions, you have muddied the waters so to speak, and befouled these children's moral compass.

Please take whatever actions necessary to correct this and clear up the "compass" so all of these children may have a proper bearing.

We can just be friends.....

Lord, how I HATE those words. I didn't even hear them, they were IMed to me earlier today. Just friends. Granted there are issues between us, that would make a real relationship hard, such as our ages, I'm 40, she's 26, my kids, all 7 of them, and she doesn't want any. Distance, I'm down by Corpus, she's up in San Antoinio, and I can only see her 1 or 2 weekends a month, and that's only up at her place, as she didn't want to come down here. There are other issues, which I won't detail here as they are personal to her, and it is not my place or my right to discuss her behind her back so to speak. But she evidently feels that she has good reasons to not want a relationship with me, and I'm just going to have to deal with it. That doesn't make it any easier to deal with to say that. It doesn't make it hurt any less. What I would like to do and what I am going to do are so diametrically opposed right now to practically be on different planets. It's things like this which make me look at my life and wonder if I had met her under different circumstances, would the end result be the same or different? What if I hadn't had my kids? What if instead of 7 I only had 2 or 3? Or none? What if I didn't have any responsibilities and could take off at the drop of a hat, and didn't have to worry about kids or doing my show, or making sure the house isn't disintegrating. What then? Could she and I have had a chance at a real relationship? I've been thinking about this all day since I got the IM from her. And all I can really say right now is, that I put myself out, exposed more of my inner self to her than I have to anyone else. And I'm still alone. I suppose I could make a joke about this, and after I post this I might change my mind and delete it But the truth is it hurts. And whoever said that men don't cry, is full of animal manure. If we are hurt, we cry, we just don't show it as much as women. Part of it I guess is the whole macho garbage, but I feel that a large part of it is the insecurity of losing control. If we let that control slip enough to cry for whatever reason, we won't be able to regain it. And men like having themselves in control. That's why we are turned to, to offer comfort and security. Because we are in control, we don't flinch, we don't cry, we do. But it costs us to be IN CONTROL. For many years, I have had an inner detachment. I've seen death up close and personal, in many ways and shapes and forms. From working on an ambulance to working security in the housing projects. And I've had to be detached and do my job. But deep deep inside, some of the things I've seen, from victims of an accident, to gunshot wounds and seeing some of the worse things people do to other people, have given me nightmares to this day. But I've had to stay in control, and functioning. That's all I've been doing is functioning. I'm tired of functioning. I want to live. I want to share my life with someone, and have them share their life with me. But, evidently it's not time for that yet.

I could make a joke or something about this probably and put up my personal ad on the blog. But I won't. I don't think I could joke about this for awhile.

m

Ok, now THIS has to be a conspiracy....

I have had to reboot, all 6 of the computers in the house after trying to read my e-mail, and Yahoo mail keeps locking up. The main things causing the lock ups that I have been able to identify? A Flash ad for the Obama campaign. According to the logs on all 6 computers says that both Firefox and Internet Explorer are locking up while calling for a shockwave module inside of the flash animation of the ad in question. Now before you ask I have 6 computers, from Pentium I's, Pentium II's and a Pentium III. Running from Windows 95, Windows 98 ,Windows 98 SE, Windows 2000 Professional and Windows XP Professional. Being run on HP, Dell, Compaq, IBM and Gateway Computers. 3 of them are on the home network wirelessly, the other 3 are wired direct through a KVM switch. All of the computers are fully up to date, the A/V, Firewall, Anti-Spyware etc are all up to date as of last night. Time to disable Flash on my systems again......

Mark

UPDATE: I've found out what the problem is..... Since I use a bunch of older systems and operating systems, Flash 9.0 is having problems when it looks for a certain command set that is processor dependant. It's looking for a PIII operating at at least 400 mhz, and none of my systems, except my newest frankenstien monster which is running linux have. So, I've had to downgrade to an updated version of Flash 7 which is available here for anyone who is having problems with flash animations on their systems. You will have to un-install flash and then install this updated version of Flash 7.0

Fuel Prices and Democrats

I think this shows what the Democratic Party has in mind, and is using the pretext of "helping" the poor people as their reasons for the institution of Socialism in this country. Remember Hillary's National Health Care? What about her comments about TAKING Profits from the oil companies through increased taxes, in addition to increasing the taxes on everyone else and rolling back the Bush Tax Cuts.

The former Soviet Union, owned everything. They controlled the prices, they controlled the production. They controlled EVERYTHING. And look where it got them. Why can't certain politicians look in the history books and see what they are doing or not doing is wrong? Could it be the height of hubris to them to think that THEY could be any better at controlling everything, than the former masters of it?

Please look at this, and post in the comments what you think?

I hate having kids sometimes.

My phone line goes through the wall of my house in front, right by my desk. It is the only phone line into my house. Well the kids seeing this little wire sticking out of the house just HAVE to grab it and yank on it. Well they actually broke the wires inside the insulation, making my phone and DSL service very screwy. Yesterday I went and replaced the phone line from the junction box back to inside the house. HOT HOT HOT!!! I sweated through my clothes in about 5 minutes, but it took almost 45 minutes to get it all done. So now I should be able to update my blog here more often, I also have finally gotten a small laptop an old IBM Thinkpad 600E running Windows 98 SE and 128 mb of RAM and a 10 gig drive. If anyone has any old parts for IBM Thinkpads please let me know. :)

Missouri readers

As some of you know I'm originally from St. Louis, Missouri. With summers spent at my aunt and uncles farm by the Missouri/Arkansas Border north of Salem, Arkansas. I also spent several years living in the south east Missouri area, by Poplar Bluff, Lake Wappapello, and Clearwater Lake areas. while checking my sitemeter logs I notice a lot of visitors from Missouri. I also spent many holidays in the Quad Cities Area of Davenport, Iowa. In fact my first real girlfriend lived in Rock Island, Illinois, and my father was born in Moline Illinois. So I have spent most of my formative years in the central Midwest. If you are from these areas and reading my blog, please leave me a comment or drop me an e-mail. I would enjoy adding to my list of friends and would like to talk about the old homes. Now saying that, I will be posting about one of my famous ancestors after I get a few things done. As we have been cleaning out my mothers garage we found my great aunt Berniece's cedar chest and we've found a bunch of old, old, old documents. After I get the camera back, I'll take some pictures and post them here for you. I will offer a little teaser though. My family has an original wanted poster for the person's who killed President Lincoln. It tattered and torn and we just found it lining the bottom drawer of the cedar chest underneath newspapers from the 40's and 50's. If I can get a decent picture I will post it before we have the document framed to protect it.

Some links to food shortage

Here are some links to food shortages in the news. The final link is a piece of history which I hope EVERYONE will read. That something like that should every occur in the United States is an anathma to me.

Here the links are:

Washington Times Story

Reuters Story

This story is the Historical one I wrote about. From the archives of the New York Times

NY Times article NOTE: this opens a PDF of the original article you must have Adobe Acrobat on your computer, if you don't click HERE to go to Adobe and get it.

Many people may think that I'm being alarmist, however if you read my profile you will find that I AM an Ordained Minister, which mean I DO read my bible. I'm not a religious nut, I don't think this is the end of the world, but I do have a responsibility to my children and to every one else.

Make your own judgements but please act.

The mainstream media is starting to get it.

On the show I read the linked below article about how food costs are going up and it would be in your best interest to stock up your pantry. How many people will actually do it, I don't know. Many people might feel that by stocking up they might exacerbate the problem increasing demand. I know what I intend to do. I intend to fill my larder with as much as I can physically fit in it. I have 7 children i am responsible for full time and up to 5 more part time. No the extra 5 aren't mine biologically, but I consider them to be my kids and part of my family. And I will do everything in my power to ensure my kids don't go without.

Here is the article for your perusal: Load up the pantry

I'm not trying to be an alarmist, but if you are knowledgable of history, you might make the same conclusions I am.

Some of what I've been doing.....

I have been working on a little project. I want to build a cabin for me and my kids on some family property the family owns up by San Antonio Texas. Well for years I've dragging around a set of Starplate Connectors. Now I get a chance to actually use them to build a cabin for me and my kids.

To start off, I made a basic frame to show how the building would look like if built the way it was intended to be built.

This is the standard frame. It is Pentagonal shaped, the actual name escapes me at the moment, but it looks pretty cool to me.

One of the option is to make a squared front for adding things like ohhh, I don't know Doors. :)

This shows the fram with one connector removed to allow for the installation of a door. However this option also removes some of the square footage from the building, and lessens the structural integrity a bit. Sooo I have the final version which uses larger struts, and incorporates a loft for the kids to sleep, and a center pole to help support the roof.

You can't see it real well but the center pole also hels support the loft, and there will be a large wall as well to help support it as well. rather than lose the square footage inside, a joist will be run out and an entry will be added for the doorway. This will also allow more room for storage.

this is part of what I've been doing the last few weeks, plus since the weather is nice, I've been getting bunch of outside stuf done.

Hopefully I'll be back to my normal posting schedule as soon as I get some other things taken care of.

I saw this first at Ace's, and he linked to Rachel

both in my Blogroll. The incident being discussed is in my opinion an Atrocity, perpetrated upon person's who through thier situation would be less likely to report it. However for a man of the cloth and I use that term very, very, very loosely, to act in the way he does, and for the ACLU to support this is even worse than the original act. The betrayal of trust by the Reverend, and of the organization which is supposed to help prevent injustices, to claim that injustice is being done to these defendants just because someone white did the same thing, which is NOT what happened. I'll let you make your own determination.

First please read the original Article of Reverend Dr. Weems Here then please read Rachel's fisking of it here.

I'll let you make your own judgement as to who is guilty of discrimination, and who is just guilty.

I Am A: Lawful Good Human Cleric (6th Level)

Ability Scores:

Strength-12

Dexterity-13

Constitution-14

Intelligence-11

Wisdom-11

Charisma-12

Alignment:
Lawful Good A lawful good character acts as a good person is expected or required to act. He combines a commitment to oppose evil with the discipline to fight relentlessly. He tells the truth, keeps his word, helps those in need, and speaks out against injustice. A lawful good character hates to see the guilty go unpunished. Lawful good is the best alignment you can be because it combines honor and compassion. However, lawful good can be a dangerous alignment because it restricts freedom and criminalizes self-interest.

Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

Class:
Clerics act as intermediaries between the earthly and the divine (or infernal) worlds. A good cleric helps those in need, while an evil cleric seeks to spread his patron's vision of evil across the world. All clerics can heal wounds and bring people back from the brink of death, and powerful clerics can even raise the dead. Likewise, all clerics have authority over undead creatures, and they can turn away or even destroy these creatures. Clerics are trained in the use of simple weapons, and can use all forms of armor and shields without penalty, since armor does not interfere with the casting of divine spells. In addition to his normal complement of spells, every cleric chooses to focus on two of his deity's domains. These domains grants the cleric special powers, and give him access to spells that he might otherwise never learn. A cleric's Wisdom score should be high, since this determines the maximum spell level that he can cast.

While reading up on the Danish reporter

who got the heebie jeebies, after he trespassed on an Elderly Texas Woman's property, the reactions of some I find both pathetic and hilarious. But those lead me to this which I think should be read by everyone. If it does not make sense to you after this, you are brain dead and have no reasonable expectiation of ever learning what is painfully clear to millions of Citizens, of The United States of America. Despite what many people think, the U.S. is NOT a Democracy, but a Constitutional Republic, which is not something the politicians want you to understand. In a democracy the Majority Rules can actually adversely affect the Rights of the minority. In a constitutional republic, the system of Checks and Balances are supposed to ensure that the minority has a voice in Government. However that has been slowly eroded since the Depression and today is close to meaningless. I will say no more upon this, but to point out that EVERY Citizen has a RIGHT and a DUTY to exercise thier right to vote and to vote for the candidate that they feel best represents thier interests.

If this is the religion of Peace

I would like to know what thier definition of Peace is.

Story 1

Story 2

It seems to me that the Radical Islamists are destroying Islam in the world view. By thier actions, they are shattering any morality of thier religion. Unfortunately, until other Muslims decide enough is enough, this will continue to happen. I am NOT saying that all Muslims, are bad, just that until all non-radicalist Muslims take a stand against the Radicals. These outrages will continue and a divide between all peace loving people and the radicalists will continue.
