One day a man decided to retire...-from the inbox

He booked himself on a Caribbean cruise and proceeded to have the time of his life, that is, until the ship sank.
He soon found himself on an island with no other people, no supplies, nothing, only bananas and coconuts.

After about four months, he is lying on the beach one day when the most gorgeous woman he has ever seen rows up to the shore.

In disbelief, he asks, "Where did you come from? How did you get here?"

She replies, "I rowed over from the other side of the island where I landed when my cruise ship sank."
"Amazing," he notes. "You were really lucky to have a row boat wash up with you."

"Oh, this thing?" explains the woman. " I made the boat out of some raw material I found on the island. The oars were whittled from gum tree branches. I wove the bottom from palm tree branches, and the sides and stern came from an Eucalyptus tree."

"But, where did you get the tools?"

"Oh, that was no problem," replied the woman. " On the south side of the island, a very unusual stratum of alluvial rock is exposed.
I found that if I fired it to a certain temperature in my kiln, it melted into ductile iron and I used that to make tools and used the tools to make the hardware."

The guy is stunned.

"Let's row over to my place," she says "and I'll give you a tour." So, after a short time of rowing, she soon docks the boat at a small wharf. As the man looks to shore, he nearly falls off the boat.
Before him is a long stone walk leading to a cabin and tree house.

While the woman ties up the rowboat with an expertly woven hemp rope, the man can only stare ahead, dumb struck. As they walk into the house, she says casually, "It's not much, but I call it home. Please sit down."

"Would you like a drink?"
"No! No thank you," the man blurts out, still dazed. "I can't take another drop of coconut juice."

"Oh, it's not coconut juice," winks the woman. "I have a still. How would you like a Tropical Spritz?"

Trying to hide his continued amazement, the man accepts, and they sit down on her couch to talk. After they exchange their individual survival stories, the woman announces,
" I'm going to slip into something more comfortable. Would you like to take a shower and shave? There's a razor in the bathroom cabinet upstairs."
No longer questioning anything, the man goes upstairs into the bathroom. There, in the cabinet is a razor made from a piece of tortoise bone. Two shells honed to a hollow ground edge are fastened on to its end inside a swivel mechanism.

"This woman is amazing," he muses. "What's next?"
When he returns, she greets him wearing nothing but some small flowers on tiny vines, each strategically positioned, she smelled faintly of gardenias. She then beckons for him to sit down
next to her.

"Tell me," she begins suggestively, slithering closer to him, "We've both been out here for many months. You must have been lonely. When was the last time you played around? She stares into his eyes.

He can't believe what he's hearing. "You mean..." he swallows excitedly as tears start to form in his eyes,

Step by Step we will have Ironman's Armor

I would love to have a simple suit that would let me be able actually play in the yard with my kids without hurting myself.  Or take my kids hiking again without crippling myself for a week.  I don't need super strength or to be able to fly, but I would like to be able to walk without a cane, ride a bike that isn't a 3 wheeler and even ride a horse again.

Hopefully Raytheon is looking into those areas of their research.

Whether We Like It Or Not

How Much Time Do You Think You Have?

If ObamaCare aka The Affordable Care Act is so great,

why are so many employers doing everything they can to reduce their expenses as they relate to it?

"A list of over 300 employers who have allegedly cut their employees’ hours to avoid a tax associated with President Barack Obama’s signature healthcare law was published this week by a prominent investors website."

With implementation due to start in just a few days, the problems with the exchanges, the costs and everything else.  And STILL the democrats are doing everything they can to push through the implementation.

Why?

Because they know if they don't force it through NOW, with all the problems, legal challenges and the actions of the Republicans in Congress, it will be defunded and repealed.

They have no choice, they know that it is now or never.

If they don't force it through with their bully tactics, it will never be fully enacted.

And their grasp on power depends on it being implemented.

No ACA/ObamaCare, and they can kiss the House and the Senate goodby in 2014.  And the Presidency in 2016.

So they HAVE to force it through now.

They have no options left.

I just realized why Harry Reid

Nancy Pelosi and President Obama like each other so much.  They're all petulant children.

"Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says House vote to fund the federal government but delay ObamaCare is 'pointless', indicating that the bill would almost certainly be rejected by the Democrat-controlled Senate, risking a temporary government shutdown."

That is akin to a spoiled brat holding his breath and throwing a tantrum when he/she doesn't get their way.

Someone tell Rush that Harry Reid's new appellation should be Harry "Brat" Reid instead of Dingy Harry.

Does any other country do this?

"A new law called the Foreign Accounts Tax Compliance Act (Fatca) will, from 1 July next year, require all financial institutions around the world to report directly to the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) all the assets and incomes of any US citizens with $50,000 (£31,000) on their books. The US could withhold 30% of dividends and interest payments due to the banks that don't comply."

Not really.  Is it any wonder why more and more Americans are giving up their Citizenship rather than comply with this law?

Many corporations with large overseas operations are starting to consider leaving the US, taking their moeny with them as well.

So how many people and companies leaving will it take for the .GOV to figure out they are killing our economy?

With the Leftists in charge, they will deny there is a problem and try to get another law passed to punish those who are bailing on the US economy.

And the rest of us, the regular people will have to pay the price with higher costs, reduced services and more intrusions in our lives to prevent us from taking our own money and absconding as well.

Is Dallas County expecting war in the streets?

"Dallas County sheriff's deputies traveled to Fort Hood earlier this month and picked up their very own International MaxxPro MRAP. This particular truck has never seen any actual combat, having only been deployed stateside for training exercises, so it doesn't have any cool battle scars, but with the dealer's $600,000 price tag knocked down to nothing, and with just 10,000 miles on it, the deal was too good to pass up."

I don't see any reason for that vehicle to be used by anyone other than the military.  Remember my post connecting various points? Obama wants a separate "Civilian Security Force".  One that is just as well armed as the military, but doesn't isn't under the authority of the constitution.  In other words, he wants a private army that only answers to him under his personal direction.  What strings are attached to these "gifts" from the Federal Government?  What conditions have been set for local law enforcement, that they have to meet in order to get these new "Tools"?

You and I know, that there is always a condition for local law enforcement agencies  to meet, to get these cool new toys, I mean tools.

So what did Dallas County have to agree to, to get their new MRAP?

Obama Administration Signs United Nations Arms Trade Treaty

Obama Administration Signs United Nations Arms Trade Treaty

Fairfax, Va. – Today, Secretary of State John Kerry signed the United
Nations Arms Trade Treaty on behalf of the Obama administration. The
National Rifle Association strongly opposes this treaty, which is a
clear violation of the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

"The Obama administration is once again demonstrating its contempt for
our fundamental, individual Right to Keep and Bear Arms," said Chris
W. Cox, executive director of the NRA's Institute for Legislative
Action. "This treaty threatens individual firearm ownership with an
invasive registration scheme. The NRA will continue working with the
United States Senate to oppose ratification of the ATT."

A bipartisan majority of the U.S. Senate is already on record in
opposition to ratification of the ATT. On March 23, the Senate adopted
an amendment to its FY 2014 Budget Resolution, offered by Sen. James
Inhofe (R-OK), that establishes a deficit-neutral fund for "the
purpose of preventing the United States from entering into the United
Nations Arms Trade Treaty." This amendment is in addition to the
previous efforts of Sen. Jerry Moran (R-KS) and Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA)
to pass concurrent resolutions opposing the treaty in their respective
chambers.

Notably, the ATT includes "small arms and light weapons" within its
scope, which covers firearms owned by law-abiding citizens. Further,
the treaty urges recordkeeping of end users, directing importing
countries to provide information to an exporting country regarding
arms transfers, including "end use or end user documentation" for a
"minimum of ten years." Each country is to "take measures, pursuant to
its national laws, to regulate brokering taking place under its
jurisdiction for conventional arms." Data kept on the end users of
imported firearms is a de-facto registry of law-abiding firearms
owners, which is a violation of federal law. Even worse, the ATT could
be construed to require such a registry to be made available to
foreign governments.

"These are blatant attacks on the constitutional rights and liberties
of every law-abiding American. The NRA will continue to fight this
assault on our fundamental freedom," concluded Cox.

-NRA-
Established in 1871, the National Rifle Association is America's
oldest civil rights and sportsmen's group. More than four million
members strong, NRA continues to uphold the Second Amendment and
advocates enforcement of existing laws against violent offenders to
reduce crime. The Association remains the nation's leader in firearm
education and training for law-abiding gun owners, law enforcement and
the armed services. Be sure to follow the NRA on Facebook at
www.facebook.com/NationalRifleAssociation and on Twitter @NRA.

Lewis and Clark - Corps of Discovery - Air Rifle

In the video the curator doesn't state that this rifle IS the one used, he says that they used this type of rifle.  I was under the impression that the rifle in the video was the ACTUAL rifle used by the Lewis and Clark Expedition.

Being born and raised in St. Louis, all of the local schools hit the Lewis and Clark Expedition very hard in History and Social Studies.  And I remember as a young boy going to the Missouri History Museum, where they had actual artifacts from the Lewis and Clark Expedition, also going to the Powder Valley Conservation Area where they had a 1/2 scale replica of one of the longboats used by the Lewis and Clark Expedition.

Over the years as I grew up, I undertook many self guided trips looking for the history of the St. Louis Area.  I went to the Camp Dubois State Historic Site in Illinois.  When I went to Kemper Military School in Boonville, MO I would walk up to the Missouri river with a history book about the expedition to see if I could locate some of the landmarks from descriptions in the book.  Sections of the Katy Trail running from St. Louis to points west is putting up trail markers on the opposite side of the river from Boonville, detailing parts of the journey.

All in all, I'm grateful I grew up in St. Louis, and I'm grateful my parents instilled in me a curiosity in the history of the area, which through St. Louis' importance during the Civil War, led me to start studying the history of the Civil War and has further led to my interest in military history in particular and history in general.

As you can see I've included some links for you to peruse.

I hope you find them enjoyable.

And if you live in St. Louis and have never explored the real history f St. Louis, I urge you to.  As it is fascinating and very informative.  If you ever visit St. Louis, there are many other places besides what I have listed above, I will list a few of them below.

The City Museum

The St. Louis Science Center and Planetarium

The St. Louis Zoo

The St. Louis Art Museum

St. Louis Soldiers Memorial

St. Louis Arch/Old Court House/ Jefferson National Expansion Memorial

And easily over 100 more.  You can take a tour at one of the several breweries, go to historic Soulard Farmer's Market, if you are around at Halloween time there are many haunted houses near the down town area.  Ride the Metro Link from down town all the way out to the airport and just look at the buildings along the way.  Walk around the Central West End and sample hundreds of different types of cuisine and brews.  You can also do that in the Soulard area, but the CWE has a flavor all it's own.  See the Fox Theater on Grand Boulevard, or go west in to the Richmond Height Clayton area to the Hi-Pointe Theater and see a movie or see a show at The Muny in Forest Park.  Go to Powell Hall to hear the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra play.

I could probably put in another 10 or 20 paragraphs describing all the really neat and interesting things in St. Louis.  So if you ever have the chance, go enjoy yourself.
