"The wheel of "compromise" will be spinning soon.
What will be loaded in it?
Slot A: AWB- complete failure, Connecticut has one, made no difference. So did New York. And the cases need to be brought up where lack of military utility was a disqualifier for short barrel shotguns. Every gun sold should have a military application or feature by that precedent. Columbine was done with 10 round mags."

Kicking myself
Over the last couple of years I"ve had many opportunities to purchase the parts to put together an AR-15 rifle of my own.
Now I am kicking myself for not doing it.
However in my defense, I am on an extremely limited budget and have 7 kids. There always seemed to be something the kids needed which cut into my firearm acquisition budget.
Like right now. I need a new window for my truck, however my daughter Megan just Lettered in school and wants her letterman jacket. She like her older sister Lettered as a Freshman, and is quite proud of that fact.
However her letterman jacket cost more than the window for my truck.
Her jacket will be here in a few weeks. And I STILL don't have a window in my truck.
How does this relate to me getting an AR-15 rifle?
A few months ago I had gone through and priced out everything to put together my own AR-15. Even though I don't really like the the 5.56X45 round of the AR-15, I DID like the fact that I could put a dedicated .22LR upper on it and use it to teach my kids and to shoot for fun inexpensively.
The fact that there are multi-caliber lower receivers available pushed me more towards trying to get one.
Which leads us to now.
You can't find ANY parts, receivers, magazines or anything. Everyone is sold out and backordered.
So here is a request.
If you have a business and would like an honest review of your firearm product, I would be willing to give you that honest review. All I ask is that I be allowed to purchase the test article for a reasonable price afterward.
Some may say "How can you give an honest review if you're getting a price break?"
The answer.. I will test anything sent to me and even if I am getting a reduced price, I will not shuck and jive anyone. If a firearm isn't worth it, I won't be buying it even at a reduced price. I'll send it right back to the company.
So if you would like your product reviewed and would be willing to work with me. I'll review anything you have.
Send me an E-mail at greylocke@gmail.com
Oh and over there on the right are links to two of my friends businesses, Outdoor Specialties and Tactical Machining. They have been posted over there for several years, and I KNOW they provide good stuff. However both are so back ordered I was told it could be 4 to 5 months before they could catch up to orders.
Tactical Machining by the way specializes in AR-15 parts. They in fact make quite a few for other companies in addition to their own brand. Odds are if you got a stripped AR-15 Lower or Upper Receiver in the last 2 years, they made it for whoever you bought it from. If you recently bought an AR-10 Lower, it probably came from Tactical Machining.
If you bought a tricked out upper for your AR, it might have come from Outdoor Specialties after being tricked out.
Both of them are top of the line suppliers. But they are almost drowning in orders.
And my dream rifle would be a flatop 20" 1 in 7 twist with flip up BUIS, with a matching dedicated .22 LR upper. Nothing really fancy, no collapsing or folding stocks or doo dads hanging off. just a plain rifle basically.

Safe web browsing....
Ok in the last few days 3 of the website I check out several times a week are blocked by the Google/Firefox script that tells me the site has been reported as an "Attack Page"
What this means is, that those site run external ads, which have their own code. And somebody injected bad code into an ad running on those sites.
The site in question:
The Internet Movie Firearm Database
IZISMiles
and
The Ulsterman
That doesn't mean those sites are actually hosting malware on their sites. It means the Ads that they run to generate site revenue have been running outside ads that are trying to do what is called a Driveby Download. That is where you go to a page don't click on anything but as the ads load they are installing maicious software on your computer through the browser.
You'll notice I didn't make the above links clickable. I don't want you to get hit by the malware that is currently going through there.
Actually the IMFDB has gotten their issue resolved, it's just IZISmiles and The Ulsterman right now who are giving me issues.
So if you are going to your favorite website and you suddenly get the warning about an Attack site. Heed it.
I've had to clean up computers that people disregarded the warnings, and it is NOT fun.

"This will probably come as a total shock to most of my Western readers, but at one point, Russia was one of the most heavily armed societies on earth. This was, of course, when we were free under the Tsar. Weapons, from swords and spears to pistols, rifles and shotguns were everywhere, common items. People carried them concealed, they carried them holstered. Fighting knives were a prominent part of many traditional attires and those little tubes criss crossing on the costumes of Cossacks and various Caucasian peoples? Well those are bullet holders for rifles"

More bomb making materials?
What is it with the Occupy supporters that they need to horde bomb making materials and weapons?
Remember this post of mine? "Bomb Making Materials"
Now we have the following story.
"The privileged daughter of a prominent city doctor, and her boyfriend — a Harvard grad and Occupy Wall Street activist — have been busted for allegedly having a cache of weapons and a bombmaking explosive in their Greenwich Village apartment."
If this had been a Conservative or a Tea Party member every network and media outlet would be SCREAMING!!!! about it from your TV's and anything they could.
And yet, because the accused are of the left persuasion, I bet this one brief story is all you will see or hear of it.

Memories of my youth
Brigid has a post up about scents. And while reading her post it reminds me of my youth. Spending my summers on my aunt and uncle's farm in Arkansas. The smell of fresh baked bread, cherry pie, and home made cookies.

Leftists actually think this way
"3. Torturing someone until they see your point.... Didn't you come out against waterboarding when Bush did it? Somehow torture is fine when it is for "political re-education" but not to get information needed to kill those actual terrorists who want to destroy you? How Communist of you Donald, how utterly unprincipled and short sighted."
They attribute all the violent rhetoric to Conservatives, and yet they are the ones who screamingly advocate it.

"This is a picture of theApollo Saturn V LVDC board that is in my collection. It was a sparethat would have been placed into one of the later Apollo moon rockets. It is a marvel of its time and demonstrates so many firsts that it standsas a representation of the tremendous leaps that technology took for theApollo program. It is the first example of applied microchip technology, surface mount components, multi-plane circuit board construction, platedthrough-hole vias, and TTL logic in one system."

No statement I have made in this thread gives you reason to assume such a thing.
So yes, you are behaving like a petulant child.
What's your next tactic, "I'm rubber, you're glue?"

Caddy One FE 121212 - From the inbox - Very cool stuff
(I would love to someday go see all of the Presidential Limousines. The history that has taken place inside them. If I could ever even just get a chance to sit in one I think it would be one of the greatest thrills and privileges of my life. I think the only thing that would be a bigger thrill for me would be to sit in the Command Module of either Apollo 11 or Apollo 13.)
Things you might have not known about the presidential car.
Caddy One - AKA The Beast20 things you (probably) didn't know about Caddy One1 - Power comes from a 6.5-litre diesel engine that's fitted with a supercharger to help haul this beast around.. Yet despite this mammoth power plant, the top speed is only 60 mph and it takes around 15 seconds to reach this.
2 - It is based on a GM truck chassis and weighs a staggering 6,350 kg. To put that in context, theRolls-Royce Phantom, one of the biggest cars on the road, weighs a paltry 2,550 kg in comparison.
This is why it only averages 8 mpg.
3 - A lot of the weight comes from the armour protection. The body is made up of steel, aluminium, titanium and ceramic. 4 - The glass is five-inches thick and only the windscreen opens, to allow the driver to talk to secret service running alongside or to pay a toll. It is also hermetically sealed to secure it from chemical attack.. 5 - Should the worst happen, the Beast has its own oxygen supply 6 - The military-grade armor means the doors are eight-inches thick and weigh as much as a Boeing 747's. 7 - The doors are so thick that the president can't hear any outside noise, so speakers are built in to play the ambient sound of the crowd. 8 - The underside is reinforced with a Kevlar mat to protect Caddy One from bomb attacks. 9 - The fuel tank is leak proof and filled with special foam thatprevents it from exploding, even in a direct hit. 10 - There are two holes in the front bumper that can emit tear gas and fire smoke grenades. 11 - There is also an infrared video system for the driver to drive through smoke and night vision cameras for driving in darkness without lights. 12 - Cadillac One normally flies two flags, the American flag and the Presidential Standard, which are lit up at night with LEDs. When President is on a state visit, the Presidential Standard is replaced by the flag of the country he is visiting. 13 - The Beast has a fire fighting system located in the trunk. 14 -Also in the trunk is a bank of the president's blood that is carried at all times and when he goes out an ambulance always follows close behind. 15 -President gets a presidential limo built to this specification every four years and the old ones are handed down to vice presidents and visiting heads of state. 16 - The Obamobile can seat seven, with two seats up front, three rear-facing ones in the middle, andtwo at the back, one for the president and the other for a guest. 17 - Inside, President isn't deprived of his creature comforts; a 10-disc CD player is among the features, as well as sophisticated electronic communications with direct phones to the White House and internal Internet. 18 - Defense systems include a pump-action shotgun in a compartment beside the driver. 19 - The tires are reinforced with Kevlar and can run when flat. If the tires are missing, the steel rims have been designed to allow the car to keep on driving at speed. 20 - Caddy One has no specific model name, but is called "The Beast" by the Secret Service. |

The girl replied with a loud voice: "I DON'T WANT TO SPEND THE NIGHT WITH YOU!"

After a couple of minutes, the girl walked quietly to the guy's table
and said: "I study psychology, and I know what a man is thinking. I
guess you felt embarrassed, right?"
The guy then responded with a loud voice: "$500 FOR ONE NIGHT? THAT'S TOO MUCH!"
All the people in the library looked at the girl in shock. The guy whispered in her ear: "I study law, and I know how to screw people".

COLUMBINE STUDENT'S FATHER 12 YEARS LATER !!- from the inbox
Subject: Fw: COLUMBINE STUDENT'S FATHER 12 YEARS LATER !!
COLUMBINE STUDENT'S FATHER 12 YEARS LATER !!
Guess our national leaders didn't expect this. On Thursday, Darrell Scott, the father of Rachel Scott, a victim of the Columbine High School shootings in Littleton , Colorado , was invited to address the House Judiciary Committee's subcommittee. What he said to our national leaders during this special session of Congress was painfully truthful.
They were not prepared for what he was to say, nor was it received well. It needs to be heard by every parent, every teacher, every politician, every sociologist, every psychologist, and every so-called expert! These courageous words spoken by Darrell Scott are powerful, penetrating, and deeply personal. There is no doubt that God sent this man as a voice crying in the wilderness.. The following is a portion of the transcript:
"Since the dawn of creation there has been both good & evil in the hearts of men and women. We all contain the seeds of kindness or the seeds of violence. The death of my wonderful daughter, Rachel Joy Scott, and the deaths of that heroic teacher, and the other eleven children who died must not be in vain. Their blood cries out for answers.
"The first recorded act of violence was when Cain slew his brother Abel out in the field. The villain was not the club he used.. Neither was it the NCA, the National Club Association. The true killer was Cain, and the reason for the murder could only be found in Cain's heart.
"In the days that followed the Columbine tragedy, I was amazed at how quickly fingers began to be pointed at groups such as the NRA. I am not a member of the NRA. I am not a hunter. I do not even own a gun. I am not here to represent or defend the NRA - because I don't believe that they are responsible for my daughter's death. Therefore I do not believe that they need to be defended. If I believed they had anything to do with Rachel's murder I would be their strongest opponent
I am here today to declare that Columbine was not just a tragedy -- it was a spiritual event that should be forcing us to look at where the real blame lies! Much of the blame lies here in this room. Much of the blame lies behind the pointing fingers of the accusers themselves. I wrote a poem just four nights ago that expresses my feelings best.
Your laws ignore our deepest needs,
Your words are empty air.
You've stripped away our heritage,
You've outlawed simple prayer.
Now gunshots fill our classrooms,
And precious children die.
You seek for answers everywhere,
And ask the question "Why?"
You regulate restrictive laws,
Through legislative creed.
And yet you fail to understand,
That God is what we need!
"Men and women are three-part beings. We all consist of body, mind, and spirit. When we refuse to acknowledge a third part of our make-up, we create a void that allows evil, prejudice, and hatred to rush in and wreak havoc. Spiritual presences were present within our educational systems for most of our nation's history. Many of our major colleges began as theological seminaries. This is a historical fact. What has happened to us as a nation? We have refused to honor God, and in so doing, we open the doors to hatred and violence. And when something as terrible as Columbine's tragedy occurs -- politicians immediately look for a scapegoat such as the NRA. They immediately seek to pass more restrictive laws that contribute to erode away our personal and private liberties. We do not need more restrictive laws. Eric and Dylan would not have been stopped by metal detectors. No amount of gun laws can stop someone who spends months planning this type of massacre. The real villain lies within our own hearts.
"As my son Craig lay under that table in the school library and saw his two friends murdered before his very eyes, he did not hesitate to pray in school. I defy any law or politician to deny him that right! I challenge every young person in America , and around the world, to realize that on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School prayer was brought back to our schools. Do not let the many prayers offered by those students be in vain. Dare to move into the new millennium with a sacred disregard for legislation that violates your God-given right to communicate with Him. To those of you who would point your finger at the NRA -- I give to you a sincere challenge.. Dare to examine your own heart before casting the first stone!
My daughter's death will not be in vain! The young people of this country will not allow that to happen!"
- Darrell Scott

The media Anti-Gun narrative in re: Flash Suppressors
The New York shooting was a terrible occurrence, and as far as I am concerned was a copy cat attack egged on by the relentless media coverage and hype of the Oregon and Sandy Hook Shootings.
In every story about the incident I have read so far the rifle is described as "Bushmaster rifle, which had a combat-style flash suppressor". A flash suppressor, is being attributed as some evil nasty thing only on assault weapons.
Uh WRONG!
Here is one story plus the link to the original:
In every story about the incident I have read so far the rifle is described as "Bushmaster rifle, which had a combat-style flash suppressor". A flash suppressor, is being attributed as some evil nasty thing only on assault weapons.
Uh WRONG!
Here is one story plus the link to the original:
Look around yourself. I've read 11 stories so far by AP, Reuters and others. ALL of them include a description of either a "Combat" or "Military" flash suppressor or flash hider.
This is an attempt by the media to demonize a firearm accessory and to tar any firearm which might use a flash hider or a muzzle compensator. Uneducated people don't know the difference between a flash suppressor or a compensator so by the media's constant use of the term Military or Combat flash suppressor, they skew the public's view of any firearm.
A flash suppressor, flash hider, muzzle compensator is nothing but a tool attached to another tool. The firearm.
That is what the media is trying to demonize. A piece of metal that weighs at most 2 or 3 ounces for most of them, that has cuts either milled or EDM'd into it that redirects the hot gasses of a fired cartridge to either reduce the amount of flame coming from the muzzle or to reduce the amount of recoil in the firearm.
So when you see news stories about that little chunk of evil metal, please leave a comment for the story if you can.
And if you meet someone who has limited knowledge of firearms, please educate them.
A flash suppressor or a muzzle compensator is just a tool to help make shooting more comfortable and fun.
And as far as dangerous weapons, my car can be a weapon, the axe in the bed of my truck, the tire iron next to it, my pocket knife, my keys. There are thousands of thing that can be used to injure someone. By themselves they aren't dangerous. All of those thing require two things to injure someone else.
Intent and the Will.
A person must have both the Intent and the Will to use those items to injure another person. Firearms also require Intent and Will.
To hear the media and others, a firearm carried on my hip is a "Deadly" weapon. No it isn't. "I" am a deadly weapon though. With or without a firearm.
Objects can be "dangerous" if not used properly. That is true of all things. Even water is dangerous if you drink to much too fast. Plus water can be used as a weapon. Don't believe me? What is waterboarding then but water being used as a weapon. How about the police in Georgia and Alabama using water cannons on civil rights protestors? ANYTHING can be used as a weapon. It just takes the intent and the will to do so.
And that is what the media is hoping you won't realize. So they can demonize a piece of metal in order to demonize what that piece of metal is attached to so they can stir up hysteria to further their agenda.
So watch out for it. And remember. There really are no dangerous weapons. Only dangerous people.
I know it sounds cliche, but it IS true.
