Missouri Legislature Overides Governor Nixon's Veto of Constitutional Carry

"NRA Applauds Veto Override of Senate Bill 656 in Missouri

Fairfax, Va. - The National Rifle Association today applauded the Missouri Legislature's veto override of Senate Bill 656, common sense self-defense legislation that was vetoed by Governor Nixon in June. This bill will improve the ability of law-abiding gun owners to exercise their Second Amendment rights.


"This is a great day for freedom in Missouri. The legislature stood strong for the constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens by overriding Gov. Nixon's misguided veto," said Chris W. Cox, Executive Director of NRA's Institute for Legislative Action. "Despite the best efforts of Michael Bloomberg and out-of-state gun control groups to defeat the override vote, their agenda was rejected."


Senate Bill 656 will allow anyone legally allowed to possess a firearm to carry that firearm, while also maintaining the current permit system. In addition, the bill:


    Expands Castle Doctrine and Stand Your Ground protections

    Adds additional permit options to include extended and lifetime permits

    Specifies that with the exception of credit card fees, no additional fee beyond $100 may be charged to       process concealed carry permits

    Allows members of the military extra time to renew their permits"

A friend of mine inherited a 1976 or 1977 Gremlin from his dad, while his older sister inherited their mom's AMC Pacer.  Dave's dad had switched his Gremlin up though.  Taking a Chrysler Slant-6 and putting it under the hood to replace the 196 CID straight 6 that had really bad lifter knock.  Still keeping the 4 speed manual or 4 on the Floor as it was called to differentiate it from the 3 on the Tree that his dad's Ford Pickup had.  I remember when we would ride out to the Meramec River down by Fenton where his parents both worked at the Chrysler Plant.  He had an AM radio with an FM converter and we had 2 box speakers from his house wired up in the back hatch.  We would go down to the river and swim, play on some innertubes and listen to K-SHE 95.  I got my nose broken for the very first time down there, when some girl Dave was chatting up, suddenly had her boyfriend show up and try to beat mine and Dave's heads in.  Dave and I got out of there, but not before I smashed my nose on the shifter diving through the passenger window.  Dave thought it was hilarious.  I had to hide my smashed nose from my parents.  Mom didn't find out about it, but Dad, Dad KNEW the instant I tried to get in the house without being seen.  He came up to my room and he only asked if I needed to go to the hospital and did I get trouble with the police or a girls father.  Once he satisfied that nothing really happened he said he would distract my mother until the swelling went down.

If I ever happen to win a large sum of money, I think I'd like to get a white late 70's model Gremlin for myself.

I really wish, Eric would do less with the destructo testing and show more of his Velocity and range testing.

For what it is, I think this type of air rifle would be very good for vermin control.

When I used to live up in St. Louis, one of the municipalities had a MAJOR problem with the deer population.  The various Anti's, (Anti guns, anti hunting) would NOT allow for professional hunters to come and thin the deer population, which had EXPLODED.  An increase in deer vs car accident, destroyed yards and gardens and when I left the St. Louis area there was a small but measurable increase in destruction of habitat for other wildlife and disease due an accompanying tick population increase.

They tried trapping and relocating the deer and despite being expensive as all get out, it was actually killing more of the deer the "Anti's" wanted to save.

The amount of Derp and Herp and general stupidity of the "Anti's" will be self evident to you.

However one of these air rifles, especially an integrally suppressed one, in the hands of an experienced and  professional hunter, would both thin the herd to a manageable size, the meat by law, at least it was, in Missouri would go to the local Food Banks to help feed the needy.

I did leave a comment on the video for Airgun Depot, asking about the possibility of using Saboted bullets in this rifle.  Maybe I'll get a response.

Good question, I had planned on trying that while I had the rifle in hand before I sent it to Eric and Chad. I had a hard time finding a sabot that fit just right. The barrel on these is slugged at .457 and all the sabots that I could find at my local sporting goods store where .454, in theory it should work though...if you check out our guide page to the Texan we do have some chronny data for a few different bullet types

"Ferguson Mayor James Knowles told local FOX 2 anchors late on Monday night, November 25, 2014, that he had repeatedly requested the National Guard during the rioting and looting… But his requests were ignored by state Democratic leaders.

“I know I’ve been on the phone in contact with the County Executive’s Office. I know he has requested. I am requesting. I’ve requested the National Guard troops to come out from their command post to help restore order along the business district. We have not seen that… Those calls have gone unheeded at this point… We need to have the governor step up and give us the resources that he’s promised from the beginning. He said he would have a strong response. The resources necessary would be provided. They have not been provided so far.“


It wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Lemp Mansion in St. Louis Mo

The Lemp Mansion  I used to work security for one of the many St. Louis City Housing Authority, Housing Projects about 4 blocks from the above pictured house.  My partner and I would drive past it several times a night, every night.  Do I believe it is haunted?  I don't know.  I do know that there were many times we would drive by and it appeared there was a light on in the house when no one should be there.  I do know that at one time there was access to the Cherokee Cave in the basement.  And I do know that the government has areas of the Cherokee Caves cut off from public access.  Is the house haunted?

I will be scarce for a few days.

I'm leaving later today for St. Louis, Mo.  My old Home town.  I have two appointments with people from the other side of my workmans compensation claim from 2004.

I am driving up, so after I arrive in St. Louis I will be totally incommunicado for at least 24 hours after that to recover from the drive.  Just in time for the first appointment if my timing is right.  If you leave any comments and they don't show up, it's because I'm not able to get on the web to moderate them.

Please don't think they are deleted, it will just take me a bit to get internet access and to check in.

I will also be checking in with some Attorney's while I'm in St. Louis of some other matters, which I won't go into here.

I REALLY need to get a Co or Guest Blogger in here to help with the blog when I'm unable to login.

And that reminds me, I need to look up the frequencies for the repeaters and their offsets, along my route.  You never know when you won't have cell service, and my HAM radio has helped me out in the past in such situations.

I used to live in Missouri, in St. Louis City, out in several different Municipalities in the county.  I worked for a small Municipal Police Department.  I lived out in the sticks in South East Missouri near Poplar Bluff.  And even when I lived in the City of St. Louis, you would have been surprised at the level of legal firearms ownership.  Requiring parents to notify the school as to whether you own firearms is an unreasonable invasion of privacy.  And I seriously wonder if that even passes the 5th amendment protections.

And I might be one of them.  I was born in 1968, my older brother in 1964.  We lived approximately 3 miles from the Pruit Igoe Housing Projects.  And about 2.5 miles from the building shown in the video on Lindell Ave.  The video doesn't give an exact timeline, but as you should know radioactivity can contaminate an area for a long time.

I think I'll be looking into this further as it may explain a few idiosyncrasies my brother and I have as they relate to certain medications and other health factors.  Could they be because of our parents exposure to the compounds the Army sprayed?  Could what they sprayed somehow affected our mother?  Who was pregnant with my older brother at the time of this spraying?

However for our government to perform this testing on unsuspecting CHILDREN for the most part, shows a callous disregard for our Rights as Citizens of this country.

And now these people are trying to take away or severely restrict one rights, which if something like this ever happened again would allow us to enforce our rights.

If you look at the President who was in office during the time frames mentioned it's interesting.

The testing took place for 1 year under Dwight D. Eisenhower, and 2 years under John F. Kennedy.  So political affiliation doesn't really have anything to do with, except that Dwight Eisenhower always warned of the growth of the military industrial complex and it's inherent destabilizing factors as they relate to our Rights and Freedoms.
